GT/AA will probably be good again. Anyone know of any more new combos coming? The 454" got hit pretty good. Will Bo's time-out be over? The new crank won't slow that car down any. Got that from a pretty good source.

I think Jerry Bennett will be tough in D/SA.

SS/AH got 22 cars. But Bryan got it right, any class without a single.

GT/I with Tim Nicholson, Gene Bichlmeier, Robin Brown, maybe Bill Zaskowski if he runs I instead of J. It will be good no doubt.

The current official entry list for SS/B is:
#169 - Paul Adams - T-bolt
#315 - Ray Pacquet - T-bolt
#364 - Tony Depillo - '64 Plymouth
#1129 - Ralph Porpora - '66 Corvette
#2018 - Jimmy Bridges - '66 Corvette
2 T- bolts, 2 Vettes, 1 Hemi Plymouth; the quota is 180 and they are now over quota at 181. Someone will have to withdraw in order for any 390 AMXs, or anyone else, to enter. It was a great class last year, and it should be great again.

He'll have to handle that little red Plymouth from Lousiana to do it. Nobody has so far. That 4 hp it got won't bother them.

Superfan1 08-05-2009 01:36 PM

Re: Indy Class Battles: Which classes will be the most competitive?

With 181 cars on the entry list; SS is over quota. There are 24 SS/AH cars currently on the list; the Hemi Challenge should be great, as usual, especially with final being run at night on Friday.
This is the best time of the year for me; I spend 4 days at Reading, 6 days at Indy, and 4 days at Charlotte, it doesn't get much better than that!

Re: Indy Class Battles: Which classes will be the most competitive?

I got to agree with Larry Hill , SS/B you have Tony DePillo's 64 Savoy, Paul Adams and his record holding T-Bolt, Pay Paquet, the killer corvettes of Ralph Porpora & Jimmy Bridges and dont count out the AMX of Gus Adkins

This will be a great class runoff, not a "Cash cow" that Mopar is making SS/AH to be for one racer

Adkins isn't entered yet, and SS is 2 cars over quota; and, to my knowledge, Adkins doesn't have a Gold Card, Silver Card etc. If that is true, it is my understanding that someone will have to withdraw for him to be able to enter. However, with the 5 cars that are on the entry list, SS/B should still be great.

Jerry, I was going by what you said. "So it's going to take 3 or more to get in no matter how many cancel" I was saying if the quota falls below, a #1 grade point can get in.

I know with the current ahfs rules the majority of the competetive class elims at indy will result in horsepower adjustments at the end of the year.

I'm with you on that Kevin, although since they merged the stick & auto fwd classes together, those cars might have automatics in them...I think Steve's is a stick, but I think the Topaz is an automatic.
