Live from Bowling Green, Division 3 points race!
 

We are finally here. We arrived about 6:30, so we did not get to test n tune. My husband moves in slow motion when it gets time to leave. But here we are finally. We are parked at the end of the race track just about as far as you can get. But we are parked to where the truck can be pulled out if it rains too much. There are lots and lots of cars here.

I don't know how many tested today, but George Widuch who races with Jerry Bennett, said that it was only about a 10 min. wait to run each time.

I did see Kallas's trailer as we came back to our motorhome.

Thanks to Quick Fuel for providing a bar b q dinner tonight for everyone. We got there late and only got corn and baked beans, but they were very good. They said they thought they had fed somewhere around 375 people.

I will give you updates tomorrow after I see who all is here.

hey larry & patsy i talked 2 my dad 2day an he saw 1 of those dodges run an the guy tolded him that he is in b-sa and went 10.132 131.mph with 1.36 -60ft .... do not know wassup can yall keep us posted...later boo-boo!!!

i just talked to my dad, and he also said Irvin Johns went 10.13 at 131 in B/SA. That's ridiculous, especially at 3500'.

If it's like any other race with test and tunes, they'll be at least a tenth slower (or more) tomorrow.

I don't know about other Divisions, but in Div 1 at the Opens and Divisional races, it seems everyone flies and runs sub-record runs on Test and Tune day. But come Friday in qualifying, they all seem to be slower. I don't think it's the weather all the time. Either they're not at legal weight, they're afraid of going too fast and getting HP, or both. Just seems interesting to me. It's been that way for years in other classes too. When Pro Stock has their Superbowl Showdown in Houston in January, they'd fly. Come G-Ville or Houston Nat'l event time in similar air, they'd be quite slower. Makes you wonder sometimes.

Well, Jack Matyas must have pulled in overnight, because it is raining here this morning! I was hoping Jack would keep all the rain with him at Cecil County!

Tech has been open for about a half hour. Larry has been down and got teched. Racing is supposed to start at 9 with Super Street. It is only sprinkling, but hopefully it will quit soon. We are supposed to get 2 runs today and then they going to finish up the Sportsnationals that was rained out in May.

There are really lots of folks here. I will go out exploring after Larry gets back with my golf cart.

I think the rumor is true about Irvin Johns 10.13 run in B. But from what I heard last night, he is going to run A/SA.

More later after it stops raining so I can get out.

With all those cars hope someone is going to post pictures. I no particular order I would like to see Bill Zaskowski's, Robin Brown's, and Danny Coffman's Chevy II's. I know Bill is going hope the others are. Any others would be great. Bob Rice will be looking also. Ed

Everybody's cars are still in their trailers, since it is still raining. I will try to get some pictures when the cars get out and about.

Lots of cars still coming in. The great thing about Bowling Green is there is plenty of parking. The rain is very light so nothing is muddy yet.

I just talked to a racer in cecil county. It rained last nite.... they were drying the track this morning.... and they just got hit with another rain (about 10 am). Looks like they are fighting the same thing you are.

hey ed i'm watching to i lve them chevy 2's also.david manning is down there with his 65 chevy 2 also.ed if you go onto the photo album and on page 4 427ed has a album for the june 6,7 beechbend combo and also the august 8,9 combo,he has some very good shots of robin brown and danny coffman.also mr sheehan will take some great shot's as he always does.thanx for the pic's thomas sheehan.

Well, we finally made a run. I got times for 86 cars, but was helping Larry with the car and missed probably 10-15 at least. Jim Beudrau (sp) is No. 1, I think, in B/SA. Larry is gone with my notebook on the golf cart, but I think he went about 1.20 under. The air was 2200' with my guages.

Irvin Johns went 10.11 in A/SA, but the safety safari towed him back to his pits. Tibor Kidar went 10.73 in D/SA to Jerry Bennett's 10.85, I think.

DRC should have the results up soon.

It is still really overcast here, but at least it is not raining.

Thanks, for your pictures + reports ..... You make us racers think we are there watching the race , instead of being home in the rain... They just pulled the plug on Cecil County for today because of rain.... Your the only game in town.....

Well, Larry finally made it back here with my book. Oh BTW, we will show up as DQ in qualifying. He had some fuel that was supposed to be good, and it wasn't. We are only getting 1 shot today, since they have to run the rained out race tonight. They are running super stock now. They should have the sheets up soon.

Beudro went 10.26 @ 127, Johns went 10.11 @133. I haven't heard what his problem was.

Thanks Patsy, I just got the car put back together and was thinking about going down tonight if I knew I could get 2 runs tomorrow. I'd have to drive about all night to make it so I think I'm going to pass on this one. Thanks for the reply and keep the updates coming.

What's the story on all of the Fuel Bounces? I haven't seen that many in a while. Is the NHRA scooter fleet low on fuel?

Let me know where you guys are getting your fuel so I can go somewhere else? LOL.

Last night, Bob Akers beat Edmond Richardson in Stock, and Morris beat Morris in Super Stock.

This morning 106 stockers went down. It was a little slower than yesterday. We finally got a good run in. Johns slowed down to a 10.26 this morning. His car sounded funny at about the 1/8 mile.

Nothing much exciting going on now. They are running Superstock. We all just get 1 run today, then go into eliminations. It is not supposed to rain anymore, so hopefully, we will get everything in that is scheduled for today.

Well, did we get lucky or what? We get to run Irvin Johns heads-up first round this afternoon. Just wish us luck! We are going to need a bunch!

On the DQ's yesterday--I think most of them was Sunoco. I know we have our VP back in now!

I took a few more pics this morning. I will try to post in a while.

Oh, they announced a while ago, that anyone could go to Beech Bend Amusement Park today for free. Thanks to Dallas and Freida Jones for doing that for the racers. They have a great roller coaster. After we run, I imagine Larry will go over and ride!

Well, no surprises, we got our ***** beat. We ran a 10.25, 128 to Johns 10.12, 133. And he was heavy. We need some NEW parts!!

Some no shows 1st round, Sweazy, Knight.

Beaudrou red-lighted 1st round, Amy broke her transmission.

More later. We are going to cook supper, then watch superstock. Jimmy Bridges is going to lose 1st round, so he can leave for Indy.
