Hemis
Anybody know the last time that they really seriously tore down a hemi car?Maybe the barn should be
readied for Charlie,Bucky and Barton. That pretty well covers the major players in SS/AH. Also what happened to Woo? |
Re: Hemis
Larry Woo got one of the new Cobra Jet's. Tyler Hard from the Reading, PA area has his old '68 Barracuda.

Re: Hemis
Ed ~ I assume teardown for the hemis is the same as it has been since Mopar came on the scene...both the winner and runner-up have to tear down. All the years we were in teardown pistons were pulled, too.
|
Re: Hemis
Ed- They have been getting a 1st rate complete teardown regularly
Julie, for those of us that are in the dark somewhat on the goings on in ss/ah, could you post who the engine builders are for the hemi cars at indy. I am sure you know most or all of them. Thanks, Dave |
Re: Hemis
Thanks for the responses.Thank you Julie,I didn't know they did a thorough teardown after the shootouts.

Bales has a few different motors that he purchased from other racers. He also had an engine being built by Bischoff but I don't know if that's the motor in the car. I know who's been helping Marvel but I can't remember the name off the top of my head. Campbell bought the ex-Wilkes Cuda and they were doing their own engines before they sold the car so I assume that their engine is still in the car. Could be wrong... I don't know who does Zrust's stuff. Did I miss anyone?? |

Darrell Marvel has been using Steve Morris Racing Engines for the last couple of years. |
Re: Hemis
I heard that Howes had the Armstrongs do some work on the Westcott powerplant.
|
Re: Hemis
That's correct. Armstrong did put Howes' motor together but did so using Westcott components.

Re: Hemis
Dang! You know a lot for a girl. :D

Re: Hemis
Thanks for calling me a girl Ed!! LOL
This is Jared, not Julie. I'm her son and answered for her. |

She still does know a lot about this for a "Girl". And I didn't mean anything derogatory with the word Girl. Some don't like that. |
Re: Hemis
What about Randy Hopkins?
|
Re: Hemis
The Howes are friends of mine and their power is indeed a combo of Armstrong and Westcott.

Ah, thanks, Ed! As I've been drag racing with my Dad since I was 1 year old I hope I know a lot about this stuff (and, no, I won't say how many years that has been!) ;-) |

Re: Hemis
Herb jr, That would not be unusual for the GRUMP to have a HEMI in his shop, as you or your dad would or should remember , the GRUMP used to race a HEMI car in 65 ! Julie I hope you're fine, and Harry is the same also your Mom ! I did'nt ask but is Jared OK now ? Take care, John Lang

Hi John, We are all fine, thanks for asking!! Jared is doing well, too. He has a bone disorder but nothing that won't stop him from going forward. He graduated law school in May, took the Bar exam in July, is now actively looking for employment (even attorneys are having a hard time finding jobs!) and is getting married in October! |
