Just a random question

If you had arguably the fastest stocker in the country ( no one knows the true potential of the CJ's), and you had set records and gone through divisional tech. why would you not go to indy? Just a curious question after looking at the qualifying sheet

Some of us don't like the way we are treated at national events.

Chad I would think, that alot of them dont attend INDY, because of the time away from work, money etc. It takes alot more time and money for INDY vs the other Nat Events.

Chad,
I have been to Indy a number of times.
You need to plan on missing atleast a week of work.
Motels and Food plan on $1500.00 to $2500.00.
Towing expenses,,,
Now because it's Indy, better get new tires, freshen the motor and trans. $$$$$$
Remember it's Indy and you better have your BEST STUFF.
Why spend all that $$$$$ and not make the show.
Ken

I think Harry hit the nail on the head for most. I don't have a fast stocker but my SSer would be capable of top 10-15. I'd love to go however, I'd need to take at least six days of vacation. Entry and fuel alone would be over $1000. Then if you don't have a toter or lq trailer you have eight days in a hotel if you leave on Sunday morning. Hotels are what? $150-200 a night I'm guessing? Then add food and other odds and ends you may need along the way. Now you have almost $3k just to attend one race. Now granted if you have a toter or motorhome it's not any worse really then most other nationals other then a couple more days off.
Just my $.02

Chad, don't be a tool and tip toe around the issue! If you want to know why Joe Sorensen is not there just ask! From western OR it's 2 weeks. 3 days there 3 days back and 6 days there. I'm not speaking for Joe but he is a working guy 2 weeks off does not come that easy, and for what to come back there and show every skeptic how fast he is! Why? The offer was put out there and not even one response. The intake can be bought for $500.00 and the motor will come apart at any National he is at for $2500.00. Put up or shut!

I have a SS car, not a stocker, and could have easily made the show as it appears right now, but time away from work is a killer if your the only one in your company genrerating income. I've been there several times over the years. It's a long tiring deal, aside from the missed work (which = money).

well I wasn't calling anyone by name, there are several very fast cars not on the list. However Sorensen is one of them. And since Joe's self appointed mouth piece decided to speak up, I'll respond. The "$2500 and you can see the motor is utter BS.

I'll give you a more realistic idea. He tows to a neutral division race (we'll use the sportsnationals in Belle Rose as an example). He makes a run which would weather factor to within the record backup of his record run. He then submits to a nice, thorough D4 teardown and tech inspection. If he passes, his fuel bill gets paid ( notice that at this time I am not offering to pay the fuel bill, this is just discussion), a beer, and the recognition as the baddest man in the land.

Why, you ask? well after the way the D6 crew handled "radiatorgate", I would prefer someone ELSE put their eyes on it. PS i have no interest in the intake for $500, $5000, or for free.

But theirs always 2013 for a 25 reuinon ;)

I saw Hal & Joe at this past weekend's National Open, just hanging out watching the combo class run. I had to run back as my class was called, so didn't get to chat with them. Last I saw they don't have a toterhome, so it would be an awfully expensive trip for them.

Why is it that whenever anyone puts a challenge out there like "show up at this track, or that track" that's "neutral", it's always closer and more convenient for the challenger? Pensacola to Belle Rose-268 miles. Woodburn, OR to Belle Rose-2542 miles. Why not drive yourself to Las Vegas and bring a tech inspector of your choice and go to a track where there's no danger of going -1.40!

what part of "example" couldn't you read. I just picked a track, it could be anywhere with competent tech. and for the no danger of -1.40, I want to see scoreboard numbers, not mathemateical calculations. 1.40 under in AA/SA is a 9.50, i think he is safe there

The first thing you would see would be taillights, IF you were to show up.

Mark, that was never a question. If we were that fast and legal, I wouldn't wonder how he did it. thanks for that Captain obvious.

Happy to help with the obvious. Maybe they do it with hard work, lots of testing, a phenomenal car, and fine tuning everything on the engine and car.
But lets just say they must not be legal since they're fast....

I never stated that the car wasn't legal, actually I hope it is. However if i had a hotrod that fast, you'd have to shoot me to keep me from trying to make the new CJ's run hard to win class at Indy.
