Z Maxx

Less than 2 weeks till event and only 42 stockers for 130 entries. After all the hype and compliments on the track where are the stock entries?

Ed, I agree .... Where is everyone, I can understand the Div 4,5 cars as Floyd says.

Gary, I think you are dead on, racers are running on empty ... It's been a long year and its not over ....The weather has sucked this year for racing... Let's hope they start to fill-up this week for Z-Maxx...........

Epping Pro-am is that weekend I think, might be time for the NHRA points requirement to be revisited if the field isn't filled in a certain amount of time.....

Aren't you guys all excited about seeing four fuel cars run together? Supposed to be really cool!

I get all wet just thinking about it. (Not)

Lil Duane is right....Put 2 on the starting line and 2 at the finish line facing the starting line. Put Tom CONDOM at the 1/8th so he can see who gets there first.

I usually leave the stands when the fuelers come up but I would stay for that.

Re: Z Maxx

Also as close as the race is to Indy (time wise, less than two weeks), it might be hard for many. That's one reason I wasn't able to race the Keystone Nat'ls two weeks after Indy. After seven-eight days off at Indy, it wasn't feasible to turn around eight or nine days later and take five or six more days off.

Re: Z Maxx

I attended last yrs. Z-Maxx national event from Friday-Sun. and the place wasn't even close to being full on any of the days....plus I remember having to get to the track for the 7:30 a.m. call-ups for Stock, SS, and Super Gas---to me a total kick- in- the -*** to these racers.AND their fans....Bruton had better come up w/a gimmick to get the people in there...Now he's got 2 Nat. events?? Sorry, but nhra is getting more and more like the puppet show over at nascar every day.....Just my .02 cents... WJ

No dog in the hunt here but, I hope the NHRA starting line prep can work miracles. It was junk for the NMRA/NMCA event a few weeks ago. Prepped by Z max workers......

Wait til you have to deal with the Z max employees and security. (grabbing you by the shirt, throwing your credentials tag back at you, etc) I am surprised that a punch or two was not thrown.

The after race report will be interesting. I hope I am wrong.

I have been told by someone who contacted NHRA today and there is no "grade points required just enter. What is Super Stock entry fee? What is crew entry fees? Any cost to NHRA I have missed?

Re: Z Maxx

So far, only 46 entries out of a 130 quota in Stock.Maybe they will accept IHRA crate motors?

Ed Fernandez 09-09-2009 08:48 PM

Re: Z Maxx

Bruton Smith's kid tried to get a grudge race for Fri. night for $20K between Force/Pedregon.Force said today he wants no part of it.
Maybe they should just get Dave Ley to run S/SS as a ECSSSA race.

Sure in SS Modified :) Or they can race the next weekend in Pro ET.

what are you trying to say Todd? Is your stocker better than someone elses?

Todd's Stocker IS BETTER than many other stockers out there!!!

Ed Wright 09-10-2009 07:58 AM

I'd vote for that.

That was my first thought!

Rules is rules. It doesn't hurt my feelings at all for NHRA to not have crate motor Stock.

Really? No grade points, tempting but I have to support my local track with the IHRA pro-am, but if the same thing applies for the Virginia race, I just might continue on from MIR.

No super stock at Z Max this year. Wish they were running SS...if so I would be there. Track was great for me last year and the place was packed w/ spectators. You couldn't even get standing room only tickets on Saturday afternoon. They won't have a problem w/ spectator counts at both nationals next year, however, racer/car counts may be a different story.

Re: Z Maxx

Tracy:

When I made my post I did not realize they were not running Super Stock. I was so ready to try to enter and just wanted an idea of how much entering would cost.

Why would you not run Super Stock in the heart of Super Stock racing?

Tracy Robbins 09-10-2009 02:50 PM

Re: Z Maxx

With the total number of sportsman entries I would think they (NHRA) are wishing super stock was included...it's just our year to sit out. We'll be there for both races next year hopefully.

Ed Wright 09-10-2009 04:40 PM

Re: Z Maxx

With car counts down, do you think they may stop excluding one next year? Nah, probably just raise prices again.

Hey Quack,

Isn't the 396 rated at 390 in IHRA?
BTW the fastest C/SA in Charlotte hasn't signed up yet..
