Live from Earlville!! Division 5 points race
"On the Road Again". I feel just like Willie Nelson. After getting home from Indy on Sunday evening, unloading dirty laundry, dumping the motorhome, playing with the grandkids, doing payroll, paying bills and going to the grocery, we are back on the road again.
We left after work yesterday and drove straight on up to Earlville and arrived here at 2:30 this morning. And Al & Bev Provoast would be proud of us. We were #2 in line. So we are now inside and parked. There are actually a lot of cars already here left over from their racing last weekend. And a few stopped over from Indy. I haven't been out yet, but I will let you know who's here a little later. Tech starts at 3 this afternoon. Mr. Bill Cassells stopped by this morning and welcomed us here. As usual this is one of the friendlier places to go. He said there is a racer appreciation dinner here on Friday night. This is a place that appreciates the racer and makes you want to come back year after year. Well I am going to get some things put away and then go out exploring. More later. Patsy |

No Jack, it is not raining here in Iowa. In fact it is a little hot and humid. There is a breeze blowing and it is nice here. I took a few pictures this afternoon. Hope you enjoy them.

Patsy thanks for the live updates, really enjoyed your posts last week from Indy. I'm leaving in a few minutes and should be up there late tonight. There was a 40% chance of rain at the beginning of the week for the weekend but it looks like thats gone now. Should be a great weekend!!

Patsy -- Nice pics but I always thought that part of the country was quiet and reserved -- "Shower Shack " ?? -- I would think that belong's here in Englishtown with the New York crowd .....my , my, my -- is it Co-Ed ? ?

They are selling VP here. It is a beautiful, sunny day here at Earlville. Tech is open and we start running at 10 with Super Street first, then stock. I will be out shortly and get some more pics. Well, we had 76 stockers go down on the first pass this morning. And do you know what was really refreshing to see? Nearly everyone made a full pass. None of the stuff like we saw at Indy--running to the 1000' and dumping. I would say probably 95% of the racers this morning stayed in it. There were still 4 or 5 that didn't, but I guess those are the ones that play the qualifying game.
Thanks to Tom Meyer for bringing us some nice Nebraska wine. It is raspberry. So come on over tonight if you want to try it out. Thanks Tom, that was very nice of you. They are running superstock now, so hopefully the sheets will be up on DRC soon. More later. Patsy |

On our 2nd run, the air was 2558'. Our car spun as did Hagberg and Libbey. It is a lot warmer now and more humid, too. I took a few more pictures that I will post shortly.

Earlville is one of the most fun tracks I've ever worked. Really great people, plus some real ingenuity in the construction and operation. There's a grate that all cars have to drive over to get into the water. Any rocks on the tires drop into the pit below and thus the staring line is kept much cleaner.
The track dryer used to be a grain dryer and can be seen in the background of Alan Messer's photo and the one above it. It can singlehandedly raise the price of petroleum when Reid has to press that monster into service. Along with the angled seats, the entire track is concrete. Like I said, a really super place even if it is in the middle of nowhere. |

I love your photo's of the people and their cars. It really adds something to the race and report. While you are there don't miss a shot of Johnny and Stephanie Diekma's latest addition. Cyclone, I haven't seen Stephanie. Nobody was at the trailer when I went by. It is another gorgeous day here in Earlville. It is supposed to be a little warmer today, I think. Superstock gets an early run this morning after superstreet, then sc after ss then stock. Round 1 for everyone is this afternoon in that same order. I have a few more pics to post this morning. I was going to last night, but Bev Picht came over and we tried out the raspberry wine that Tom Meyer brought us from Nebraska and we started talking and I didn't get back to the computer. Thanks to Tri-State Raceway for the barbq dinner last night. It was very good and everyone enjoyed it. Also Larry brought me back a homemade cookie that he got when he got his time slip yesterday. Bob Blackwell's girlfriend makes them and they are great. Thanks. More later. Patsy |
