Wilkes DQ

Anyone know why the Wilkes GTO was DQ'd at Charlotte?

Bill Harris 09-18-2009 07:55 AM

Re: Wilkes DQ

Dunno why he was DQ'ed but I'll bet he was ticked at himself for giving Len King the stripe in the first round of class:

Car#-Driver(Opp'nt)-RT-----ET---Speed-----Car#-Driver(Opp'nt)-RT----ET---Speed
2749 Len King 3125 Joey Wilkes
C1 ****WINNER**** 0.011 11.370 115.74 0.007 11.375 99.29
E/SA Index: 12.00 (+/-): -0.630 E/SA Index: 12.00 (+/-): -0.625
Qualified: #99 No Time #66 No Time

Only 99 MPH, obviously on the brakes, and loses by 0.0015 sec.

Why drive the stripe in class? Oh, yeah, protect that factor!!!

Re: Wilkes DQ

He may have broke in class and didn't bother going to the scales knowing his weekend was over.

DQ?.....maybe for excessive braking on that class run? Another fine example of a car that is WWWWAAAAAYYY underfactored.

Wasn't there 1 qualifying pass and then into class? From the Summit site, it would appear that there was a dq after the time trial. Would guess something simple liek fuel or weight, as it appears that he as well as the M/SA car that show dq after qualifying pass went into class and the M/SA shows as a class winner. At leasat the schedule showed there was to be a qualifing pass and then into class?

Re: Wilkes DQ

RJ, maybe he failed fuel check on both runs? Tom

GLEN DEMENGE 09-18-2009 12:29 PM

Re: Wilkes DQ

The M/SA car is my old car.
The new owner Joe, told me he had picked up gas at Atlanta last week and it did not pass.
He pumped it out, and got some fresh VP.
It was good for the second run & CLASS WIN ;)
As far as the other car I have no idea.

Re: Wilkes DQ

We just received a call from Donna Schrimscher with some updates from Charlotte. She said according to the "buzz" Joey Wilkes failed fuel check twice. Also stated that about ten stockers are in teardown, the ones I remember are; Warren, Carnero, Shaw, Valpreda, Hawk, Craddick and Robbins.

Good job Donna!!

Add Line to the list of stockers in teardown.

Kevin's last name is Cradduck. When I called, he was putting it back together. Funny, I miss a race and they tear him down. His wife will never let me live that down.

Re: Wilkes DQ

Joey's helper put regular gas in the fuel cell. They thought they had it out second run. It's fixed now .

Ed my Dad said if you can't say something good dont say nothing. For you information Regular gas is hard to get out of your fuel system.Evidently he got it out as he won 3 rounds and PASSED fuel check. Ck with some other racers as to how hard it is to clean your fuel system after you put pump gas in it.. Thanks Irv

I wasn't slamming him,I thought it peculiar that he failed twice in a row.And you're right about Fletcher's race.Take some skin thickener.
PS I don't smoke,or snort.

Yeah we have them here too. They fit well on a 4 1/2" grinder to strip a car down. The beer is good for rinsing down the work.
