Bud Lefevre update
 

Saw Bud today in a nurseing home NOT doing good. As his cancer is spreading thought out.
After getting his IHRA pure stker & having to wait 20-25 yrs to race it sure is a shame.
None of us know how long we have left so DON'T take any day for granted...

Thanks Tom for the update on Bud. I met Bud at Indy in 2002 when he was driving Capt. Jacks wagon. It's a shame, bad things happen to good people. I will keep him in my prayers. Mike

Just got a call from Bob downing ,he saw Bud tonight and he is back in MCO Hospital with tubes down his nose & throat.

Bud has left his mark on the sport as much if not more than many and has done it in more ways than one. He exemplifies someone who's approach to the sport is with no less heart and soul than a true champion. In reading his stuff, following his exploits and knowing he had been working to take the Malibu to "the next step" this is truly a genuine heartbreaker. In my book Bud will forever be immortalilzed as one of sportsman drag racing's greats. I only hope he hears this before it's too late. :(

Bud shoe'd my Turismo once, just to get out and have some fun. He's truly a great guy. Glad I got to hang out with him a few times over the years.

Bud is a great guy, besides drag racing we both shared the love of building drag models, and he and I are both in the same line of work, in fact we teamed up once on a collision that was in southern Michigan, just north of his Toledo base, and Bud did the needed legwork for me. Helped out considerably having someone that I knew & trusted be able to assist.
We're still trying to locate someone to produce scale decal sheets of "Sportsman" decals that are so sorely needed for us that build in 1/24 scale.

Ruth & I went to see Bud tonight and he was out in very bad condition with tubes every where. As I try to tell him lots of guy are praying for you, Ruth said look he is trying to lift his left hand , so I held it,
he couldn't open his eyes, but felt like he knew we were there.

I only talked to Bud a couple of times, but he is a heck of a nice guy. His passion, patience and talent at model building amazes me. I hope my prayers can somehow help too!

Bud is a great guy, he did a model for my mother of her Dodge Dart, in return i gave him a life membership to my stats. I have been to Buds house and watched him in action doing model projects, being a model builder and collector myself, this guy is way above any builders out there.
Hope things get better in the hospital and Bud's next project is on the jig months away from being started.

I am very sorry to hear about this. My thoughts and prayers are with Bud and his family. I sent some messages regarding buying his car. Now I know why they were not answered. I also build models and I admired his work.

Sad indeed. I had the pleasure of pitting next to Bud a couple of times at Milan (Mi.) Dragway. Genuine nice guy and a true racing enthusiast. He posted photos often on this site for many to enjoy including myself. Was very well known for his awesome car models as well.

I never had the opportunity to meet Bud or see him race, but being part of the classracer community, I feel like I knew him. The kind words I read from others about others creates a bond that goes beyond state lines. Rest in peace, Bud.

Oct issue of Scale Auto which I bought today really shocked me, as I thumbed thru on page 30 & 31 was a beautiful spread on Buds 68 Super Stock Hemi Dart done to perfection with big bold pictures. He was one hell of a builder !
