Sorensen in Super Stock - Vegas
You have the supposedly quickest "legal" GM stocker on the planet and you enter Super Stock (again) instead of Stock. Things that make you wonder.......

Now Fred do you think this is important?

Re: Sorensen in Super Stock - Vegas
You ever stop to think that maybe, just maybe, they didn't intend on going. Then by the time they made plans, arranged for time off from work, got everything figured out, that oops! Stock was full-at quota!
It happens! So Super Stock was the only alternative if they still wanted to race. Some of you conspiracy people must have way too much time on your hands.... |
Re: Sorensen in Super Stock - Vegas
Ed, yes I know first hand it can happen. Look at the entry list in Pomona. Do you see my name? Guess what-I do this for a living, and I'm only going to be able to race one of my 2 cars at the finals, because I didn't enter in time! Luckily I have a gold card and can enter one even if the quota has been met. I was going to enter on Tuesday on my phone, but since there were 10-15 spots left, I decided to enter on Thursday after I flew home to do it on the real computer. Well, sure enough it was full.
So yes, it can happen! |

Re: Sorensen in Super Stock - Vegas
How many times does a NHRA OFFICIAL have to tech Joe Sorensen's car and declare it legal and prove he is not cheating for you guys?

I know some people get picked (whether for a record or randomly at a Nat'l) quite often, but it doesn't matter if your torn down one time or ten times a year. |

Did you happen to notice another famous 69 Camaro stocker is in the very same class as Joe?
None other than Bobby DeArmond. Now that will make the SS/CA class interesting. |

Re: Sorensen in Super Stock - Vegas
Ed O'Brien,
I was gonna stay out of this but you make it way too easy. We've had a few jabs before so here goes. If you're so sure someone is cheating why don't you file a protest and prove it? So far all I've seen out of you is baseless accusations(many), foul language, idiotic comments, and occasionally(but very occasionally) a good post and "Have a Nice Day." I truly believe that you end all your posts with this because you've never had a nice day and don't what a nice day is. Good thing about it all is, that if I'm feeling a little down on any given day all I have to do is read your posts on this board to make my day a little better. And by the way, "Have a Nice Day. And if you see Goober tell him I said "Duh Huh" he'll know what I mean. |
Re: Sorensen in Super Stock - Vegas
Ed,
Thanks for the toughtful reply to my post. And you have some valid points. Although it's been many, many years since I ran a national event(but plan on doing so next season) I can't really comment on whether or not inspections at teardowns at national events compare to Div. 4 teardowns and inspections by Wesley. I guess, as in any series, politics will come into play no matter what. I know it did when I crewed in the cup, Nationwide and truck series and may very well be part of the game in NHRA. I guess I will find out next year. I also know that serious racers will always push the envelope(been that way since I was a kid at least) and that some teams/racers will spend an unbelievable amount of time and money to run really fast(always thought that was what racing was about). I have crewed the last two years on an ADRL PRO Nitrous(nitrous Pro Mod) car and it's unbelievable how much money and technology the top teams utilize. Our team won 1 ADRL National event(Houston) and runner-upped with a second team car at Memphis. If Mike decided to get out of the ADRL and go Stock or Super Stock racing I'm sure his stuff would be as fast as any because funding isn't a problem. I've always been told that knowing "how" to play the game is usually the best way to win at the game. Look at Bob Shaw(knows how to pick an economical and fast combo) or the Sorenson's(just plain fast and hard working) and they've both passed teardowns in the past. I guess when it comes down to it if you can get it past tech it must be legal and until you can prove it otherwise then it's a mute point. Either step up and play the game or go racing and quit the complaining. It's all about choices. JMT. |

[QUOTE=fredjohnston;148021]This is all well and good. Tell me how many times a rod/piston/crank have been pulled during these teardowns? I thinking 0.0 times..as in never.[/QUOTE
