Live fron the "Pennsylvania Dutch Classic"
3 Attachment(s)
Just like Bob Frey would say - today was a "Chamber of Commerce " day -- Sunny and beautiful for sure .Lex Dudas and company has this place looking sharp -- swept , manicured and neat as a pin .As for the track -- well I wish I could repeat some of the numbers I heard from the private test 'n tune but because I didn't witness them I won't -- speaking with a couple of racers who ran today I was told the track was superb and they should be able to duplicate those numbers tomorrow .
Racers we haven't seen lately -- Tommy Ciccarone ( pictured below ) with son Jon-Jon making laps with their Comp car ( and looking good doing it I'm told ) .Also our own Classracer personality Ed Fernandez was seen signing autographs and even has his racer with him -- welcome back Eddie. And former Division One racer Evan Smith decided to grace us with his presence this weekend but "forgot" to bring his racecar - is this a working weekend or did you really miss us Evan ? Or was it just too hot in Florida and you needed a break ........... By closing tonight there were almost a hundred and fifty teams here already -- doesn't anyone work anymore ? Also pictured below is the new '05 Mustang F/SA of Anthony Bongiovanni ( don't even ask me to spell his name again ) -- you don't have to like Mustangs' to like this horse -- its a beauty ( the pics I took don't do it justice ) . This is Anthony's first stocker and did he get it right - take a minute in the lanes or in the pits and check it out .BTW-- this is a "regular" engine stocker - ( three valve ) - no SuperCharger here -- just 281 inches with Fuel Injection and a five ( yes, 5 ) speed automatic ! ! |
Re: Live fron the "Pennsylvania Dutch Classic"
Work? what is work? LOL Should be a busy day tomorrow, No lines and no waiting to get in at 5:30 today but there was still a pretty steady flow of rigs right up to 8:00 cut off.

Re: Live fron the "Pennsylvania Dutch Classic"
Jack I love your updates I am looking forward to more of them as the weekend goes on. I am not a big Ford guy, but I do like that Mustang, very nice looking.
|
Re: Live fron the "Pennsylvania Dutch Classic"
Jack, you did spell Anthony's last name correctly. But, the car is a 2008 not an 05. That beautiful Mustang was built by B&B out of Hohenwald Tennessee. This is Anthony's debut in Stock Eliminator, so stop by and make him feel welcome.

Jack,
Your writing is getting better and more interesting all the time and I really look forward to your reports. Keep up the good work. Dave Kommel |
Re: Live fron the "Pennsylvania Dutch Classic"
Hey Jack, make sure you check up on Joe Franco from time to time, he is trying to shake down his new Cavalier this weekend in GT/FA. He may need some help. See you on Friday. Good luck.

Re: Live fron the "Pennsylvania Dutch Classic"
Keep 'em coming Jack, love to follow along. This week it'll be from the D4 event in Noble. Looks like it might be quick @ both events!

Re: Live fron the "Pennsylvania Dutch Classic"
I hope some of the cars on the live timing site are classified wrong. If not there are a few getting power on monday after 1st round quailifing in stock. Biggest stand out was Gary Richard listed in C/SA going 9.91 there was also a D/Sa car that was 1.50 under I did not recognize the name Hoepfully some live reports will be in soon to let us know who is in what class. Thanks to all that are reporting

Re: Live fron the "Pennsylvania Dutch Classic"
Anyone know if sam Murray is driving his 72 Cutlass or his D stick car? 11.12 in J would be a WOW run!

Re: Live fron the "Pennsylvania Dutch Classic"
Ouch ! ! ! For those who thought it was going to be fast here at the Grove what a surprise this morning was .First the barometer at 11am when the stockers ran -- a whopping 29.43 coupled with 53 % humidity totaled out to almost 1400 feet -- not fast , not very fast at all .This will not be a record setting weekend .
Speaking of record setters -- Jerry McNeish made a very nice pass but missed the record by .03--he'll try again in the second session .My team mate Gary Russell came in SS/I and set the first leg of his record at 10.76 . There might be others and I'll pass them on ASAP . As you might have guessed I've been a little busy this morning but more info is forthcoming soon ...... Jim -- Sam Murray is in his green Cutlass H/S .opps........ |
Re: Live fron the "Pennsylvania Dutch Classic"
Was McNeish in D/S? Will there be any Q sessions posted on DRC for this event?
|
Re: Live fron the "Pennsylvania Dutch Classic"

Re: Live fron the "Pennsylvania Dutch Classic"
1400 ft......... some of us out west would kill for 1400 ft.
|
Re: Live fron the "Pennsylvania Dutch Classic"
That's record setting air for us in the midwest. Damn good air!!
It would be awesome to see what our 9.71 from Kansas City would look like in mineshaft conditions someday... |

Re: Live fron the "Pennsylvania Dutch Classic"
OK guys I'm back -- yep , I ditched all of you and went to teardown with my teamate Gary Russell who is now the record holder in S/S I -- congrats to the Russell Family .Other than that how about those Hemi's ? And then there is Kelly Boyle sitting on the provisional pole in Stock -- Kelly who you say ? Here's the deal -- she's Gary Parkers' new shoe and she'll be a force to deal with next year -- and she can wheel that Camaro around well .
1-Kellly Boyle H/SA -1.262 2-B.Philbrick Q/SA --1.253 3-J.Bardecoff B/SA -- -1.251 4-D.Barton A/SA -- -1.246 5-D.Ficacci A/SA - -1.244 6- S.Gershert E/SA -- 1.233 7-J.McNeish D/S -- 1.229 8- A.Curcio G/SA -- 1.212 9--C .Howes A/SA -- 1.209 10-- S.Murray H/S --1.176 |

Re: Live fron the "Pennsylvania Dutch Classic"
I saw that Mustang stocker at Pro Start Race Cars, where Kurt was correcting some things, and if it wasn't for the rear slick size I would've sworn it was a Super Stocker...

Last night the pits were buzzing with one simple question that was centered around Jim Daniels 8.31 shot yesterday in SS/AH -- on Monday will he and the rest of the SS/AH competitors receive horsepower or an index lowering ? Jump in with your opinion.........
Today is another stinker as far as the weather goes --- 59 degrees at this moment with 67% humidity and another low barometer at 29.47 ...all this puts us at just over 1100' and climbing fast .Its very overcast and even feels wet out .See picture below . We are to start in an hour or so -- first out will be SuperStreet followed by Stock .Just heard the Jet fire up so --- hopefully we'll start on time . |

We're on hold ! ! And have been for over an hour - see pics below - just after Superstreet and Stock ran some breeze came in and put leaves everywhere on the track .This will surely cut into class elims ....
They just now called for drivers back to cars....... |

Re: Live fron the "Pennsylvania Dutch Classic"
I think we will see quite a few more third pedals next year.
|
Re: Live fron the "Pennsylvania Dutch Classic"
I think it's a bummer that Jared and family don't have a dog in this fight. Miss seeing you guys out there!
I certainly don't mind stick cars and if everybody converted the world would be a much closer to perfect place. I think any SS/AH run in the 30's is so rare they deserve to be #1 and shouldn't get hit. There are still quite a few racers in that class that struggle to run much into the 8's at all but I still enjoy seeing any of the Hemis out there. |
Re: Live fron the "Pennsylvania Dutch Classic"
The Mustang looks great, nice to see a new regular combination, hope it works well.
|
Re: Live fron the "Pennsylvania Dutch Classic"
Well gang we all knew it was coming -- yep -- we're on rain hold and it doesn't look good...............
|
Re: Live fron the "Pennsylvania Dutch Classic"
Just curious what car is our "homeboy" Eric Bell driving..........GT/AA Eric Bell, Chandler AZ, '64 Dodge 9.252 10.40 -1.148.........would this be one of Manns cars?
|
Re: Live fron the "Pennsylvania Dutch Classic"
Way too much rain that came quickly -- we're done for the day . Stock class winners will the fastest in the class during time trials .Round one tomorrow morning starting with SuperStreet .........more as I get it .
PS--Batten down the hatches and break out the adult drinks............. |
Re: Live fron the "Pennsylvania Dutch Classic"
The car Eric is driving is Eric's car running in GT/AA cause he can LOL
|
Re: Live fron the "Pennsylvania Dutch Classic"

|
Re: Live fron the "Pennsylvania Dutch Classic"

And stop by anytime ..........
|
Re: Live fron the "Pennsylvania Dutch Classic"
Hopefully this front is a fast mover....No rain here in Ma. as yet, supposed to hit late tonight and pour all day tomorrow (Sat.), then a real nice day on Sunday here. Maybe you guys/gals will clear tomorrow and be able to resume....here's hoping. This Bud's for you......WJ

Re: Live fron the "Pennsylvania Dutch Classic"
Does anyone out there think Jack should take up RAIN DANCE LESSONS this winter?
A quick rain dance performance from Jack at the track may resolve the problem........ MB PS....Seriously Jack thanks for all the live reports and I hope the weather system moves on fast for you and all others there to have some great racing. |
