Live from las vegas
2 Attachment(s)
Hi all,
Got into the line to get into line yesterday afternoon. Overnight another 80 cars got into line behind us. There are several hundred racecars inside waiting for the gates to open at 10 AM. Here a couple of pixs of the area. |
Re: Live from las vegas
Bob, once you get inside would it be possible for you to post a copy of the run schedule for stock and ss for Thurs and Friday? NHRA moved the start of class elims to Thurs after 1 round of qualifying, but it wasn't clear whether they would run rounds 2, 3, 4, etc. of class elims on Thurs or roll those over to Friday. Thanks.

Re: Live from las vegas
This is the schedule. All class on Thursday. First round stock 8:00 AM Saturday, nothing for stock or super stock on Friday except for tear down, maybe

Re: Live from las vegas
Hi Ralph,
If the shedule that you posted is correct than NHRA will shoot them selves in the foot again with Stock & Super Stock running back to back on all of their hits. Stock will still in weight & fuel check when they start running Super Stock. Bob |
Re: Live from las vegas
When we get get in I will try to find out the run schedule and
I will post the weather which happens to be sunny, cold & windy |
Re: Live from las vegas
The detailed run schedule for any event has been posted on the nhra.com site lately. Simply click on the home page and on the right under the event, click on Event Schedule. Scroll all the way to the bottom and you'll see Detailed Run Schedule. It usually isn't posted until Tuesday night before the event, but... They've been doing this since the middle of summer I believe.

Re: Live from las vegas
[QUOTE=Mark Yacavone;148498]You won't see me this weekend . I don't care how much beer you got.
I AM expecting a bunch of Pontiac pics though. Ditto on the above Bob..............Keep the info flowing -- not much happening in the NorthEast this weekend . |
Re: Live from las vegas
How about some pics of Terry Anderson's SS Chevy II. Maybe even an engine shot. Ed

Re: Live from las vegas
Must be a tail wind in Vegas. The first 7 cars are 1.40 plus under in stock.
|
Re: Live from las vegas
On another web site there is a thread about Nevada requiring permits if you are over 10,000 pounds. Has there been any discussion in the pits about the permits that Nevada now requires?

Re: Live from las vegas
I think it is interesting how the two PC Richard cars are within a few hundredths of their E.T's that they ran at the Dutch 4 days ago yet their indexes are roughly .25 higher... Really puts some legitimacy to the factoring and the records that get set there.
|
Re: Live from las vegas
Floyd, remember its a alt adjusted index event so you can let it hang out cause of the "weird" indexes.

Re: Live from las vegas
It is not a tail wind! I just came home from there. All you had to do is look at the flags.
|
Re: Live from las vegas
What is the altitude of this track? I'm seeing posted 2800ft. Im sure this is corrected. I'm asking because the indexes are .25 or so higher at Vegas. 2800 ft isn't bad at all. We ran in 3900ft of air at Dallas this year.

Re: Live from las vegas
Google Earth shows the starting line as 2003 feet but that may be before any earthmoving to build the track. They didn't build it up any higher.
Some pretty stout numbersm i see the SS/AH is listed at 9.84 at altitude, so what's the new Sea Level index? |
Re: Live from las vegas
Well, for all you Cobra Jet "fans" out there, they'll be getting some HP on Monday.
Car#-Driver(Opp'nt)-RT-----ET---Speed 4135 Brent Hajek C1 ****WINNER**** 0.392 9.867 134.85 A/SA Index: 11.58 (+/-): -1.713 That's -1.433 under the sea level A/SA index. Even though they're running at altitude it results in an automatic hit. For those that are curious, it corrects to a 9.627. |
Re: Live from las vegas
|
Re: Live from las vegas
Brent Hajek went 9.867@134.85 in A/SA (-1.713 under the index) with a .392 light against Bill Howell (MOV: 0.699) in the first round of class & still is able to get the win! That’s getting it done! Chad Holzman went 9.962@133.67 (-1.618 under the index) right in front of him! I know this is Vegas, but where is the line for getting horsepower on Monday at a factored track?
|
Re: Live from las vegas
I bet poor Bill about Shat himself when that thing went by..
9.90 in A auto is the line for 1.40 |
Re: Live from las vegas
Too bad Bill's front wheel drive turbo minivan doesn't fit the class... it'd run better than 1.71 under.

Re: Live from las vegas
I race in Las Vegas. The static altitude is around 2,400 ft. plus or minus. But when we race what really matters as most of you know is corrected air density,. temp and humidity. I have seen air as low as 1,600 hundred feet to 5,900 feet! That really plays into how you dial your car. As far as the SS/AH index goes National Dragster latest edition shows 9.99. Today the fastest hemi can, John Raines (first round) ran 8.732 on a new 9.84. The automatic cars have had to add weight from what I have heard. As far as the new Mustangs go, I think they are awesome and a well needed shot in the arm for stock and super stock....along with the Dodge Challengers and (hopfully) Cameros. BUT THEY NEED ANOTHER CLASS! I don't think it's fair to all the development that has happened over all the years on 427 Cameros,Mopars, Fords, etc. Maybe AAA/S Just my thoughts, I started drag racing in 1960 and I am in awe of you guys that seriously race in stock and super stock. I just race an old Thunderbolt in nostalgia and brackets!! Best to you all!!

Re: Live from las vegas
Bob you are right the cjs belong in a supercharged class by themselves, A/FX will do. If they still want to run stock give them their own index.
