|
Re: One cool stocker
Jim, I was thinking the same thing, could it be the same car?
Todd, a semifinal showing, not bad for a probably not too consistant combo like that, should look good in ND in color. Rich, thanks for the pictures, got to love the paint. |
Re: One cool stocker
I think Dick C's wagon is now in the hands of Jim Cook of New Hope MN.

Re: One cool stocker
I just dont see why hes running it with 425 hp when the hardtop he has looks better to me at 410. Seems like some where around roughly 400 lbs for 15 hp to me and I used to run one in the early 70s with a partner in E/S with the 410 motor. I do still love the car being as he had the side chrome air brushed on from a picture of ours at the Gators in 71 & its a cool looking stocker. The hardtop ran faster too in B/S with the 410hp motor !

Re: One cool stocker
And that was back in the day with 7 inch tires.
|
Re: One cool stocker
They were a thrill ride supreme on 7's with 6-8 lbs of air in the tires too. I can remember reading both names off the door from the starting line when the car was in high gear at the Gators. Sort of like a 16 foot boat in heavy seas. I know because I put it on the roof at Hollywood Dragway, no roll bars, no injuries, no car left.

Re: One cool stocker
I love Wagons too !

Re: One cool stocker
Someone, ask Richard how he won the WinterNationals !!!
|
Re: One cool stocker
Richard,
How did you win the WinterNationals? |
Re: One cool stocker
Which of those medium-riser motors was used by Jim Waldo to be the first in the tens?
|
Re: One cool stocker
410 hp. At the time, the 2x4 engine was factored to 440.

Re: One cool stocker
There used to be baby blue powder blue something like that B\S fairlane wagon in Ky. I think he was from
around Louisville ,I saw it a Mt.Park, Clay City Ky.around 1986-87-88 was neat car didn't know the guys name or if car is still around? Different subject I remember Corky Jordan Flatwoods Ky. bringing his fairlane to Mt.Park back around same years was awesome stocker back then I think he held B/S record @10.87 in 1986 was called worlds fastest stocker back then. He would run Quick Sixteen bracket with it was cool seeing stocker run Q16.I heard Corky's car is sitting in garage I don't know when it was last ran. Mike Taylor3601 |

Re: One cool stocker
Chris' wagon isn't Charby's but i'm not sure if it isn't the one RJ Sledge had? Very cool car and runs real well. Sure the 410hp hardtop may be a better fit in B/S but the wagon oozes class.
If you don't like Fords (hard for me to imagine!) what about Chris Barnes Max Wedge wagon that won the Div 6 race at Medford? |
Re: One cool stocker
Just out of curiosity does any one have any pictures of Jon Hurst H/SA Ford wagon?
|
Re: One cool stocker
Many moons ago, I used to write the newsletter for the 409 chevy club of America. I used to send a newsletter to a Richard Charbonneau in Minnesota. Are you one and the same? I'd like to know!!

Re: One cool stocker
Richard originally had a 67 Fairlane Hardtop out of Brookdale Ford. In 67 we ran into a lot of engine valve train problems. We continued to run
the 66 Hemi at the time. I convinced Richard to turn the Super Stock Fairlane in to a 410 h.p. stocker like Tom Shuchmacker from Ohio. As a "stocker " the car was starting to fly. Sitting on my parents steps, I convieced Richard to take the engine out of the Hardtop and put it into a wagon. It was not easy finding the wagon body. Little known fact, we tracked down a lic. plate number of one we saw on the road one day. The car belonged to a neighbor of John Hagen's (Pro Stock Racer) mother. It took a couple of week to change things over. First pass down the track (BIR) it went a .10 below the national record and the rest was history. |
