Today,I'm going through tech at Pomona, and the big American flag is very conspicuous to me over the tower behind the starting line. In the lull before the storm of four days of racing, it serves as a giant tangible reminder of the God-ordained blessings He gave all of us that live in this country, and great men and women, not just notable leaders(certainly not many politicians),but every military veteran of many wars come to mind. Thank you one and all for all you did for us. A quote comes to mind, and its appropriate--"All gave much, some gave all." Thank you, all.

Special day for us as our son is now serving in the Army and has been to Iraq once and soon to go to Afghanistan.

I put this on another site and REMEMBER THIS PLEASE !!!

Support our Troops but DO NOT SUPPORT THE PEOPLE that lie to these kids about the ARMY. Weds is Veteran Day and I have a son in the Army and trust me its has not been as easy as these recruiters make it sound. BTW here is one for you, these recruters are making $$$$ for every kid they talk into going in, nice isn't it. No I cant be a fan to Army supported racing programs OUR KIDS need all that STUPID money being spent

Approximately 2.7 million Americans served in the war zone; 300,000 were wounded and approximately 75,000 permanently disabled. Officially there are still 1,870 Americans unaccounted for from SE Asia. Approximately 1200 of these are listed as missing (MIA's, POW's, and others).

And to my 58,215 Brothers and Sisters who never returned from Viet Nam, God Bless You All.

Re: Veterans Day

Where the use of poppies on Veteran's Day came from:

In Flanders fields the poppies blow
Between the crosses, row on row,
That mark our place; and in the sky
The larks, still bravely singing, fly
Scarce heard amid the guns below.
We are the dead. Short days ago
We lived, felt dawn, saw sunset glow,
Loved, and were loved, and now we lie
In Flanders fields.
Take up our quarrel with the foe:
To you from failing hands we throw
The torch; be yours to hold it high.
If ye break faith with us who die
We shall not sleep, though poppies grow
In Flanders fields.

— Lt.-Col. John McCrae (1872 - 1918)

No. 1 Recruiter's DO NOT make any money for enlistee's who sign up.

No. 2 It was your son's choice to join.

No. 3 It's easy to get out as the Army does not want anyone who doesn't want to be in, they are a danger to other soldier's lives in combat. I'm sorry your not happy with his choice.
