NHRA gold card question??
last year i won an nhra gold card for 2010..
i have and opportunity to race in stock eliminator in pomona, but i do not have any grade points..i have heard that you dont need any grade points if you have and nhra gold card..is this true??? can anybody tell me exactly what my gold card is good for?? thanks-colton |
Re: NHRA gold card question??
As long as the gold car is not just a track gold card you are entitled to race without grade points for the year 2010. The entry cost $60.00.

Re: NHRA gold card question??
ok..well this is an nhra gold card i won at the div.4 bracket finals..
so i still have to pay $60.00 to enter stock?? is it good for crew members?? |
Re: NHRA gold card question??
The $60.00 is for the insurance. Crew members need to pay for their own credentials. We did this for a local racer a few years ago who won the Summit track championship and then the race of champions. We put him in my Chevelle and he drove it at Winternationals ,but we bought our own crew passes.Good luck at Pomona!!

Re: NHRA gold card question??
i just heard that i could get one crew member in free for the weekend with the gold card..
whats the insurance for?? how does that work? |
Re: NHRA gold card question??
and how about pre-registration??
can i pre-register 10 weeks early? 5 weeks early?? |
Re: NHRA gold card question??
You are going to need the proper grade points if you want to race in Pomona. I was using a gold card from the D5 ET finals last year and raced S/C with it at Brainerd. NHRA told me that I could use the card for the entry and would have to pay the insurance fee but since the gold card wasn't specifically for Super Comp I needed to get some grade points. The only way you can race without grade points is if your gold card matches the class you are entering.

Re: NHRA gold card question??
Not true a gold card for race of champions or the large bracket is a guarantee to enter any eliminator bracket your license is good for. If you have gold card you can enter any time before 1 O'clock on Monday before the race starts, most gold card wait until about that time.

Re: NHRA gold card question??
Colton: I was in your position in 2004, I won the Summit division championship in 2003 and they gave me a gold car. I could use it at any NhRA national event on any catigory with no grade points and if I rememeber correctly, I didn't have to pay a dime and I got 1 crew pass with the entry. The gold card didn't work for division races though, they didn't honor it unless you raced an ET class. I entered Gatornats, Bristol, Atlanta and Indy with the gold car with no grade points and no charge that I can remember.

Re: NHRA gold card question??
I won the ROC in 2005 and used the gold card at Pomona twice and vegas once without any grade points, I had to pay the insurance though. NHRA says you can only use the gold cards for the class you won it with now though, So can you really use it to run stock if you won it bracket racing? I would call Glendora and ask about signing up.

Re: NHRA gold card question??
i won the gold card in the no/e race of champions race at the division 4 bracket finals..yes it was a bracket race
|
Re: NHRA gold card question??
Call Glendora competition department and see what yor options are.

Re: NHRA gold card question??
I got the gold card at the D2 banquet after winning the Summit racing Sportman ET finals. I know it worked for Stock for me, maybe they changed it, call NHRA, they will tell you what is and what isn't.

Speaking of gold Cards!!
If a racer wins his Division, and finishes in the top ten in his category why doesn't NHRA give the silver card to the next guy down in the top ten.the guy with the Div.championship doesnt need the silver card too does he?
|
Re: NHRA gold card question??
i called glendora..they said no grade points are needed with a gold card period!!! and no charge at the gate for you and one crew member..
thanks for the inputs-colton |
Re: NHRA gold card question??
Is the silver card still given? if so, how do you get one and what does it get you?

Re: NHRA gold card question??
Colton: I guess my information was correct, I didn't need any grade points to enter any National event race. Point races are a completely different story.
I wanted to take my Camaro to Indy for the 50th race, I had raced at Indy with the Camaro for the 25th. I had no grade points so I wouldn't be able to enter but after winning the Summit Series D2 race I got a gold card and I was able to go to Indy on their dime. It was a beautiful thing! Re: NHRA gold card question??
Lyn,
The racer can use both cards if he races 2 eliminators I believe. If you won d3 stock and finished in the top 10 nationally, you could go to a national event and run stock and super stock without paying either entry fee. need 2 cars though !!!!! Dave |

Re: NHRA gold card question??
This is a real interesting thread, I just won an IHRA,
gold and silver card for winning the Summit Super Series N/Box World Championship, at Rockingham, guess I need to find someone who wants a driver for their stock eliminator car for next season, Could be an interesting upcoming season. I assume I could use the cards for that purpose, correct me if I am wrong? Davey Boyd |
Re: NHRA gold card question??
If you have a gold card you still have to pay the insurance $ 60..00 plus have a competition number for the bracket you are entering. I never had a gold card but I did on line entries for some one who did have a gold card.

Re: NHRA gold card question??
I finished # 8 in NHRA stock in 1988. All i got was a form letter from them saying I could change my number to #8 for the 1989 season.the next year they started to give out silver cards .It actually cost me money to finish #8 because the next year I had to change my numbers back !!!!!

Re: NHRA gold card question??
I`ve held an NHRA Gold Card on two different occasions,in `96 for the Division 5 Stock Champonship and in 2003 for the Summit ET Division 5/National Championship, and with both cards every entry was paid the next season. That included every bracket race and NHRA event, but I did have to pay the required insurance for Nat`l Events. As far as the grade point issue,I already had grade points,so I can`t respond to that topic. Some tracks can honor Gold Cards in different ways, and can decline them in certain events like jackpot races. Lane
