IHRA division 9 schedule

The division 9 schedule is up on the website. I think it's a good move completing the race on Saturday and having Sunday as a rain day. I guess if you want to set a record you come in Friday w/ the heads off.

wow, if your running D9 your done by July, interesting.

Re: IHRA division 9 schedule

Whatta ya mean done by July?
You got probly Pittsburgh, and Maryland in August and Darlington and Epping in Sept. Not to mention a reasonable drive w/o the $100 in tolls for Virginia in Oct, where a lucky few will get to run 3 races in one weekend :P Seems to me if you live in NC, you're in the cat birds seat as far as running IHRA..

Michael
About time IHRA realized where the majority of their members live.
You also left out the div 1 races which will probably be Richmond-VMP-MIR.
Div 2 which includes Carolina dragway.
Epping is a bit far abround 900 miles though.
The down side to div 9 is we don't have the luxury of DOUBLES. Which means you only have to race 4 weekends where we have to go 8.
+'s and -'s for us all.
Thank you IHRA for looking out for ALL racers

Re: IHRA division 9 schedule

I like the Saturday races as well. In looking at the schedule, Mooresville is listed as the 24th and 25th of April which is a Saturday/Sunday. In reading the post it seems as though Rockingham was the only "Sunday" race. Is that correct?

what are all us Michigan, Ohio racers.. chopped liver? :P lol

Re: IHRA division 9 schedule

rockingham will be a traditional fri-sat-sun race, all others will be fri saturday including sportsnationals at piedmont. We are pretty dang close to putting together class sponsors for div. 9 as well that will add to the division champion total. I think there will also be a sports natls at Richmond Dragway. Satch and the tracks did a pretty good job with the sched. it appears to me.

Marc,
The only thing I don't like is going to Farmington in March. It's usually way to cold. I like the Saturday races too. Will there be anything going on Fridays?
I'm also glad they added Dunn Benson really nice place, and it's only 35 miles from my house.
I am blessed
Dunn-35 miles
Rockingham- 50 miles
Darlington 100 miles
Piedmont- 100 miles
Coastal Plains-100 miles
Mooresville 125 miles
Farmington- 130 miles
VMP- 180
Richmond- 200?
Carolina Dragway-200?
MIR-305

Michael ,
You can move down here, and hang with me. It's not to bad Beard did it. Instead of chopped Liver you could be PULLED PORK.

Re: IHRA division 9 schedule

if we have friday and sat. races now we lose the extra sat. night race alot of these tracks put on for us for extra chances of $$$$ and extra track time.....im not saying they wont do anything on friday night but i think it would be harder to run anything extra for the racers that come to these races.....the idea of having sunday for a rain date is good but around here usually if it rains on sat. it rains on sun.....also means more time off work on fridays 4 a points race

Brandon where you live you can go make a run then go back to work.LOL
I liked the Saturday combo events but I also like getting home early on Sunday.

Re: IHRA division 9 schedule

Hmm... wonder if the tracks have thought about having a bracket points race on Sunday following a Pro-Am... I can see Piedmont doing something like that.

Most races look like "1-day" events for me, if we have a qualifying run on Saturday followed by eliminations.

Marc Kinton 12-02-2009 06:29 PM

Re: IHRA division 9 schedule

Friday will be a normal day, test & tune and tech, Saturday 2 time runs and race! I would hope some or most tracks would have a bracket/combo race on Sunday for those who want to stay. Actually would no be any more time for folks, u could still come in Friday night or Saturday morning and race. The Sunday bracket race would be cool for those who like to work & race.
:D

Just can't make nobody happy. Everybody wanted this last year ,now you got it and still ain't happy. Look at the track operators , theyused to do bracket races on sat for a little extra profit . they don't get nothin now but a pro-am. Lots of people will not stay on Sunday if the pro-am race is done .Racers should be happy and track operator sad unless he gets a good car count for the pro-am. I'm happy either way. jmho.

Dub Sr. im not knocking anything they decide and i wasnt one of the racers who was wanting it so tech. not everyone wanted this....i will as always run every race that i can at IHRA events, i have never talked bad about them...i just liked the combos on sat. night plus i consider pro ams and nationals my vacation away from work and home(glad the ole lady doesnt read this)...its not a bad idea to do it this way i just liked it the old way...right now the only race i have to miss with the schedule is piedmonts pro am because my older brother is getting tied down that saturday of the race....Just wanted to say that i will be supporting everything IHRA has this year that i can make it too and im not trying to make it sound like im complaining about this just expressing my view on the new layout...like i said it makes it easier 4 a rain out to be on sunday but you know it ususally rains around here for days(sometimes it does).....Chip except for coastal plains i prob could make a run and be back to work before my boss knows im gone lol...;)

The only race I disagree with this on is Farmington. It was 38 degrees last year the first week of March as a low temp. When the sun goes down on Saturday its going to be cold. It will get dark around 630. So from 2nd round on it will be cold, very cold.

Thanks for the support Brandon. I personally would stay on Sunday for a race especially if i was working the race that weekend ,then i could get a chance to race. It will probably work out.Maybe Somebody will come up with a brainstorm idea to try and gey racers to stay on sunday. If you set records maybe we can do tear-down on sundays (just kidding).

Re: IHRA division 9 schedule

dub. i would absolutely stay if there was a race on sunday......my biggest beef with this is a personal blow i took at piedmont this year at there 1 day race. i broke my tranny on the second qualifying run and thrashed all the way up 2 the last 3 pairs of stock till i finally told myself i wasnt gonna get this thing back together. and it was hard for me to swallow that because of the sat. only race and if it had been a 2 day race then i would be sitting fine with maybe a bracket race on sat.. night to get the car dialed in for sunday....so it could just be me being a little bitter from that whole ordeal that weekend but in all reality its the downside of the decsion as far as if your broke and you have the part to fix your car but then you just mite not have enough time...but hey thats the way it is so oh well

Complaining about Farmington in March? The last two or three years had Rockingham (used to be the first race) the last day or two of Feb.

Re: IHRA division 9 schedule

Not racing on Sunday is definately better for some of us from the north that will come down to race those events. It is nice to have a travel day on Sunday instead of leaving the track Sunday evening and making the 6 hr drive home. We don't all live 30 min from a track.

I wish they would do all the pro-ams that way, even the doubles.
Have all the races Friday and Saturday. I really like to leave Sundays for traveling or doing other things.

Again guys...the schedule for Friday is no different. Saturday, two time runs and then eliminations. Sunday will be open and you still can come in on Friday night or Saturday morning and not miss anything except t&t.

danny waters sr 12-09-2009 03:38 PM

Re: IHRA division 9 schedule

If you were there on Sat before then it will not be any diff except you race Sat instead of just time runs. Jr would always leave Fri after work and drive to track /get up in morning and RACE(time runs)...................... Then wait til Sun to actually run eliminations.
