Re: Hp For Christmas
I heard AMC's will be able to run indy aluminum heads next year with a 5 hp penalty

Re: Hp For Christmas
You're right Jeff, the NASCAR Hemi will get 10 hp and 80 lbs. According to an NHRA official the new indexes and the second half HP review will be posted today on nhra.com.

I better put a set of Indy heads on Santa's wish list! |
Re: Hp For Christmas
Steve,
All is not lost. If we do the math down South 2.25% of 400 is Nine or only 72 lbs. After looking 2.25% of 430 is 9.675 Hp. or 10 Hp. Larry |

Charlie, I will take the $10 on index changes.

Re: Hp For Christmas
I'm predicting indexes will be dropped by 3 tenths!!!
|
Re: Hp For Christmas
Maybe the indexes will be raised. The last thing that Stock and Super Stock Eliminator needs is a few less cars.Lowering the index more than two tenths will definately result in even smaller fields.Maybe only a few cars, but at some races, track owners need all of the participation that they can get.
I'll go $4.42 cents on two tenths.Any more than that and its just another nail in the coffin for SS/S. |

It sure is easier for them to move the index .30 than it is to pick the car up .30. I'd rather they hit my combination with 10HP than move the indexes! |

Michael, no you don't. Well, now that I'm on the subject, I think that to "Drop the Indexes" correctly, the NHRA needs to look at its AHFS data and "drop" some indexes more than others. The upper classes (minus AA and A) seem to be "running away" from most of the lower class (or "no class" or "cheap *** sack of class" or maybe "lazy dirtbag no class")cars. If they are going to change them then maybe it's time to "bring things in line" a bit. Come to think of it, it would help the upper class (or "d**k swingers class" or "all I do is work on my car because I don't have a life class" or maybe "my accountant said that I have to spend a lot of money"class) cars stay away from the horsepower triggers without hurting the "bottom feeders" (lowlife scum that they are). Not to leave out SS, maybe look at the "hood scoop" cars vs. everyone else. Hey, that felt good! Billy |

Re: Hp For Christmas
Chad, I thought that I pretty well "Zinged" everybody! Well, maybe not those "low life rat bastard" Pro Tree slugs! We should hit their indexes at least a second!

Re: Hp For Christmas
We'll probably be waiting until Friday for any news from NHRA regarding horsepower or index changes. I think NHRA tends to follow the thinking of corporate America, like the way people are fired on Friday. The Friday announcements tend to cut down on those annoying, angry phone calls and e-mails.

Re: Hp For Christmas
Don,
I thought you would enjoy that one.. :~) Now, If I can only come up with something smart A** about your Hood Scoop thread... Aye! |

Re: Hp For Christmas
My son Ryan drives ours SS/EA 68 Camaro and does a very good job. This year at Indy Nationals our car qualified #128 and we were very proud to make the field. The point that I want to make, I have many parts that are 29+ years old technology. I have ask NHRA for 5HP(not that I know we will get it) to make us more competitive without spending $15/20K to update these items just to go faster. Not every racing would agree with me about the Automatic HP Factoring System, but it sets the destiny of how much money the racer wants to spend. Stock and Super Stock is considered the sportsman category that was originally to be affordable to race. Changing Indexes by lowering as some would like just makes everything start over again. Other racers who feel that it is tough to be competitive with their combination email NHRA for HP. I know Stock and Super Stock takes a lot of time to control rule enforcement and with the cut backs NHRA have made on staff will make even more difficult. I just wish (me racing Super Stock since 1967) that the rules were not so flexible and products being accepted that Not what the category represents…
