What Kind Of Fuel Pump Do You Use?

What kind of fuel pump do you use and how reliable has it been? Holley? Aeromotive? Magnafuel? Barry Grant? Jim

Re: What Kind Of Fuel Pump Do You Use?

I've had two race cars with BG and I had two bad experiences. Tried to get a hold of Magna Fuel and could never get a reply. So I went w/ Aeromotive system and have no problems, gets the job done.
If I was doing it all again, I would take a good look at Weldon for a comparison to Aeromotive.

Re: What Kind Of Fuel Pump Do You Use?

Chris, I have gone through no less than 3 Holley pumps, all the Black ones. They seem to like to seize the shaft at the bronze bearing. Getting tired of it! I had to change one at Valdosta between first and second round. Jim

If I had the $$ at the time...Aeromotive!!! Stocker - MSD inline, '65 - Holley Blue 2 ea. Holley's have lasted over 30 years!! Black I thought was better....pretty scary they've failed that quickly

Re: What Kind Of Fuel Pump Do You Use?

Being basically a cheapskate, both my cars have the old style Holley "Blue" GPH110 pumps. The 2 in my bracket car have been there for over 20 years now, & the one in my Stocker for 6 years. Other than replacing the end plate gasket on one pump in the bracket car 2 years ago, and both regulator diaphrams (dried up from sitting for 2 years) about 4 years ago, they have been trouble free. Hardly the "throw it away every year" situation that the BG ads in ND claimed, while thiers needs to be send back for a rebuild every 2 years.

Re: What Kind Of Fuel Pump Do You Use?

Product Engineering and Magna Fuel are pretty much the same pumps. If my memory is right the owner of product engineering use to own magna fuel. Aeromotive is a good fuel system company also. I have the Magna Fuel on my car now, liked the return right at the pump and back to the cell. BG's are basically junk, cant get parts for them. Seems the folks at BG think there the only ones smart enough to fix them.

Re: What Kind Of Fuel Pump Do You Use?

We were running a pair of black Holley pumps on the dyno. In 3 years, I've put about 5 pumps on it. They seem to fail at the worst possible time, always stopping a job that has to go right then. Rather than keep a spare, I ordered an Aeromotive system and solved the problem. Haven't even touched it once, plumbed it, wired it, and ignore it.

We put MagnaFuel on the orange car. It picked up a little on top, and became far more consistent.

I have a 15 year old product engineering that has been resealed once.

Take a look at Weldon's new Program for NHRA Racers.

I had a Black Holley go away at Baton Rouge ProAm this yr. I had my old 280 re done to get thru for a while, but I will likely go with MagnaFuel to replace that one, over the winter. PE's look good , except for the prices ! I did have an issue with a MF reg last weekend. Had to reset the fp 3 times, then it stayed there???

IMPORTANT DEVELOPMENT: WELDON INTRODUCES NEW LIFETIME WARRANTY

THE BEST WARRANTY IN THE BUSINESS
As pump returns are so rare at Weldon, they have decided to offer the best warranty in the business. If you ever have a problem with a Weldon product, call them and they’ll fix it—and in most circumstances, it will be free of charge. “That’s the Weldon way of business,” says Jim Craig, “That’s the confidence we place in our products.”

WELDON – SYNONYMOUS WITH QUALITY
Because of Weldon’s distinguished aerospace background, every fuel pump receives its own serial number and a corresponding flow chart. Each pump is tested with fuel, not substitutes, and, if necessary, tested with the exact racing fuel the customer uses.

If you want the absolute best fuel system there is only 1 and that is Weldon. Jim Craig at Weldon is very good to deal with.
