Challenger Drag Pak Owners

This list is simple, hopefully it will give us a base for refrence as to who bought and who now owns what car.

Please just repost it or say who you know for certain own what car

I already know some of the spots I left blank, but I also know the people who own those cars, and know, that they know who own other and are Class Racer readers so Im hoping they will fill it out, because they know a lot more of the owners than I do and who owns what car. :) My brain is fried from days of solvent,

List who owns the car, The state the car lives in , the class planned, and the engine ordered, if its known. I keep reffering to people by number and I dont like that so hopefully I can put a name with ALL the numbers.

They also had it on Racing Junk for 2 or 3 months... Also I believe this is the 3rd attempt on ebay. Last time I saw it they wanted $85,000 to start the bidding. Ended with no bids....

I have # 16, and will run with a 360. I know who has 22, but not for publication just yet. I also have 3 in the 80's and two in the 90's, but I don't know which customer will get which yet. Might have a 2010 with the 392 Hemi. Who knows. The Fiat Option will be 2011, and will be a 528 Gen II. It will either have a Barton or Wescott motor, jury is still out on that option. Will run D/SA @ 298 hp. Has two 1000 cfm throttle bodies.

Congrats on that run Irv, we havent spoke yet, but thus far you are our target :) But then again youve been around long enough to know the fastest guy is always the target ;)

A very serious congrats on the run, impressive.

We are hoping all hope to be testing in Phoneix in Jan, and seeing you at Pomona. I dont see any hold ups, short of a good driver with enough grade points to get us there.....and optimism is high.

I would love to chat sometime if youre game pm me if you are.....I dont know how the heck I forgot to add you to the list...or another friend I just cant remeber his number, so many numbers so much reducer fumes.

Cheers

Jeff, Im a bit dim sometimes on humor and always the last to get a joke....

The "Fiat" Option is in regards to the joke email that went out a couple of weeks ago right ?

In as much as the 2010 having a 6.4 ? Is this serious , rumor , and is there any info out there on it ? (Any motor specs ?) ......Or is this another joke that I am too dim to get ?

Cheers

Chris

Irv, yours was the Kenne Bell option BT9.6. The new option is an 871 I took off of an old crew boat and sent to BDS. This one will be the new BT12.8 (PSI). Should help the launch. This will be on the Fiat 500 option only. But don't tell nobody. How many pro stock players you think gonna be in the mix before it's over? Or pro players period? Shades of Top Stock. I heard Mike Keener was trying to get a Challenger for Paul Mercure to drive, but the same people with the global warming crap said the world would tilt on its axis if that happened. More reports as they become available. Trust me this is all true.

You know Irv, I have seen the movie. It inspired me. Actually I have been looking at Wal Mart when the hugh cardboard box of dvds that are 3 bucks is in the middle of the isle for the movie. I just discovered it is available online, so I am going to order one. Mercure was going to drive the new Pedal-N-Metal 6 speed that was developed by Kevin Helms. Works like this Shift 4, pull lever for drive shaft overdrive, pull second lever to engange warp drive in differential. I figure the Jeggy car gotta be a manual. You can't make this up. I think it's a 6.1.

As of right now there are five cars in the mpls. area.Car #22 belongs to Chuck Lofgren,# 26 belongs to Larry Curtis & # 11 belongs to Fred Hanson all have 6.1 motors.I was also told that none of the Drag Pak motors have pistons in them that have been approved by NHRA.The pistons do not have a part # on top of them.Bruce From NHRA is working with Diamond pistons & the engine builder on this problem.I would hold off on bolting that oil pan on.

Randy, when did you hear this about the pistons? Jeff Teuton has one apart I guess he can ck that out. Also Jeggies car is going to be a automatic I heard.

The number is on the bottom of the skirt. I'll look at it tomorrow. It is still apart. Those motors are all standard bore and stroke. I think it would be hard to find a place to put it on the top, but I'll see tomorrow. Got me interested now.

Irv I have been talking with Chuck Lofgren (Lofgren Automotive) for the past couple weeks about this problem and how NHRA is going to meas. dome height and deck height. He has been in contact with Bruce and hopefully this can be resolved by the end of the PRI show. Will all these pistons have to be returned to diamond for a stamped ID # As per the stock rules ?

Randy

Jeff Teuton 12-06-2009 08:06 PM

Re: Challenger Drag Pak Owners

I would think it would be done the same as the 426 has been for many years. Same concept Drop the piston down a specified amount and cc the cyl.

Re: Challenger Drag Pak Owners

I think about the only way Paul Mercure and Mike Keener would race a Challenger is if someone give them a "race ready" car for free and it better be a S T I C K. Park the 68 camaro for the challenger ya right. If that happens then I know Keener & Mercure must have broke into my pharmacy and took more than a handful of vicodin, xanax, and maybe some anti-psychotic drugs lol...Luke

I talked to Bruce today and was told its a "non-issue" things were supposed to be different, but they arent, I asked about pullig and having the the ID'ing done by diamond, and was told by Bruce , NO I didnt have to do that. Apparenty there was confusion on what he , rightfully wanted for the other techs, and they will from now on but it dosent make ours illegal, its just going to be tougher for them to check. And well.....thats that.......at least from my perspective. But I had to make a call to him anyway so it worked out well.
