Joe,
IHRA tried this and this was one of the biggest jokes ever. How cheap can they be besides being inconvenient. IHRA went back to printed version and hopefully so will NHRA.

Was looking something up the other day and finally just gave up. Went out to the trailer and got my 2009 book.......
New way of keeping things running as norm in the IVORY tower.

Re: Online Rulebook

When you go to print it select the page you want in your printer preferences. You have a choice of all, selected or page range

Members can get one hard copy at 30% off. That comes out to $7 + 3.50 shipping and "handling." Another way to get another ten bux.

I like having it online. Now that it is online, it is always in the palm of my hand. Also, its going green. Motorsports need to make a larger effort in this area before someone starts to make decisions for us.

There are a couple things about it however. First, its not the best pdf. If you could click the section in the table of contents and it would move to the page its on it would be alot better. It would be a lot better if it at least had the page number next to section.

Also, of course this was a cost savings for NHRA, that we will never see.

I am becoming a little jaded like the old guys since I started actively reading this forum ha.

Hmmm.....I had to think about that for a minute, but I like that, I can load it on my Phone, its a PDA style Motorola, thats a good idea....

Not like I wont still get a paper copy but I end up buying a couple anyway, between losing them, dunking them in degreaser as they fall from my shirt pocket.....etc. (Ive caught one on fire by accident once...) So have I with my phones as well but those are insured :)

Would anyone be willing to send me the PDF version via email, I am planning on building another class car and I want to know what I might be getting into.

You must also be an NHRA member to reside in the U.S.

I am currently not a NHRA member, just looking for the copy of the book as an aid in building the car. If someone is willing to send me the PDF file it would be greatly appreciated.

the following is on the NHRA website where you access the PDF file:

"IMPORTANT - PLEASE READ CAREFULLY. BY USING THIS SITE YOU AGREE:

Access to the NHRA Member website and to the NHRA Rulebook Online is FOR THE NHRA MEMBER ONLY. Your password MAY NOT BE SHARED. NHRA Members found to be sharing passwords may have site access denied, suspended or terminated, as determined exclusively by NHRA. ACCESS TO, THE PRINTING OF AND/OR THE DOWNLOAD OF THE NHRA RULEBOOK IS FOR THE NHRA MEMBER’S OWN USE ONLY. You may not directly or indirectly sell, resell, give away, rent, transmit, retransmit, post (including on your personal website), copy, modify, adapt, translate, exhibit, publish, create derivative works from, distribute, perform, display, reverse engineer, decompile or dissemble, or in any way exploit, the NHRA Rulebook, in whole or in part. The NHRA Rulebook is protected by copyright, trademark and all other applicable intellectual property laws, and is owned by the National Hot Rod Association. NHRA also owns the copyright in the selection, coordination, arrangement and modification of the NHRA Rulebook content, as well as in the content original to it. You do not acquire any ownership rights by downloading NHRA’s copyrighted material."

I might add that being able to talk with the Division Tech Directors is also very valuable if you are building a car. There will almost certainly be decision points that are not completely clear in the written rules.

Personally, I like having the rulebook online and in a PDF format. Works better for me. But a lot of people do not like it this way. They should give each racer the option.

I'm with Lee on this one. I like having it as I can almost always access a computer if I'm off somewhere and need to look at something and I have it downloaded as PDF file on all three computers I use(work, home and shop). I can also keep and print just what I need instead of having to keep up with a dang book. JMT.

Exactly. Nowadays I pretty much don't leave the house without a laptop. I keep a copy of the IHRA book on there as well as on my iPhone. Much easier for me as I practically live the computer with business, forums, and EFI tuning.

Now. Just to get my hands on the pesky NHRA book before I get my membership again later this year.

Sounds exactly like me. I always have my laptop, various data cables for different cars/ecus, and I even used to carry my LM1 with me a lot of the time, but most folks have wideband now a days. I mean even going out to eat with gf parents ha. Never know when you might need to do some impromptu tuning!

Re: Online Rulebook

And the more I think about it... I was going to send him, atleast what he needed, as in todays age who hasn't pirated music, software, movies etc.. However, I doubt they will ever enforce it, but getting in trouble for that piracy could jeaopardize my racing. I think ill stay out of that business. But what I was thinking... It is pretty crappy that you must be a member to view the rules. What other sports do you have to pay just to see the rules to figure out if you want to play?
