I don't know any thing about Super Gas but I think those "IROC topless Corvettes" may be roadsters.

X2, its the same. I know this wont be popular with some of my friends, but if you wanted to make it different, and keep variety in the class, eliminate all "roadsters" fron S/ST and S/G, and let em run in S/C.

Re: AHRA SG now were talking

Carl you can't run them in s/st anyways. Why be different and take them out of s/g. Need to catch a light and run .90 anyway. Let the AHRA get started and have more tracks in the future.
Boo Boo
If they want to be different bracket race.

Re: AHRA SG now were talking

You can run them in NHRA S/ST, I've seen it in D1, just gotta be 2800#.........ok, I see they are illegal in the AHRA "Gas" class 10.90

Re: AHRA SG now were talking

Read it again Joe there is no difference. My vote for change is to move the indexs by one second. 7.90 8.90 9.90 and qualified field . That should get some reaction

Where are roadsters allowed in S/ST ...???? Only unless they have doors and then have to make weight....c'mon guys....why are so many against roadsters anyway....?????

Re: AHRA SG now were talking

If everyone had Chevy2s and they did well ,people would want them banned, same with Monzas.Who cares,I hope AHRA takes off, treats everyone well .The timing is right cause in this area it looks like IHRA is in trouble.Still the more the merrier..
Used to be a white roadster out of OHIO with a 4 cyl. that ran S/ST.

BOOBOO like our pic. on my facebook? Dancing Kings..LOL

Re: AHRA SG now were talking

u can't just move the index's down a sec and make it 7.90 8.90 9.90 because the 8.90 and 9.90 guys will stay where they are at, then you will eliminate 80% of the 10.90 guys that will not move down to the 9.90 break. and 7.90 will not be as many cars, cause the fast dragsters will rather run 8.90. if you wanted somthing different you would need to make it maybe 8.50 9.50 10.50 back in the day that is what ihra ran hot rod at before they moved it to 10.90

Nhra rule book 2009 S/St
Page 91 8cyl minimum weight with driver.2,800. 6 cyl. 2,000. 4 cyl.and rotary 1,200 lbs

All cars should be red.

Re: AHRA SG now were talking

Honestly I've been on NHRA for years to lift the 10.90 rule and let those drivers race in another class if they wish cause I really think you would see a lot of bed frames for sale and those drivers go SST & SG racing.

Lets see, I call the top less corvettes :Iroc series cars
and the dragsters : Bed Frames, lol
(btw they (guys at our shop) called my dragster a bed frame for ever when i had it)

Down here in div 2 a lot of us super gassers call dragsters a ladder on wheels. Even though I now own one, I still call it that. A fun race to have is have everyone is super comp with a dragster take all the panels off of their cars and have someone else bring it to the lanes for them and then tell them all to go find their car.

That's pretty funny about taking the body panels off the antennae stands. Love it!

Re: AHRA SG now were talking

I've seen a Brogie roadster run in SST, back in the early 90's in California. It was a plain white one, IIRC the guy's name was Blair. He had a rear "bumper" mounted on it that was a round tube about 5" diameter. When they upped the weight limit to 2800, he apparently just added more lead inside that bumper.

Just lowering the indexes won't change much except to eliminate a lot of 10.90 racers, at least here on the West coast. If you really want to change things, then make a rule that throttle stops cannot be controlled by a timer (only by a mechanical switch on the shifter).
