Re: The fastest car by class your vote
V/S Jack Larson's screamin' Ford.
V/SA Tight race. I think McNeal Freeman's 262 Caprice has the most potential, but Jim Mantle's Pacer seems to be constistently fast as does Mike Jeffrey's Dodge taxi cab, and Griffis Jr's 173 Pontiac is right there too. Gotta go with Mantle Pac(er)ing the pack for now though. Jerry PS: Tom, Good idea to help pass the time through the coming Winter Storm. |
Re: The fastest car by class your vote
OK Art, we can take care of that in quick fashion.
W/S - no contest - Ellis Buth W/SA Again, no contest. Gerald Nivens with the newer 140 Ford. DF/S- No contest - Nicole Stephenson's 3.8 Olds EF/S - Ron Scibenick's Topaz outran Polhill at the US Nats, although it's hard to tell from day-to-day with those little engines. Any disagreements on any of these slower than V stockers anyone? AF, BF, & CF are all faster than V. If not we're back to V/S & V/SA in stock. Jerry |
Re: The fastest car by class your vote
should i bite on this game (looking in my book at who is really the fastest in class)
|
Re: The fastest car by class your vote
This sounds like a "mine is bigger than yours thread" :~)
Can those of us who get Joe's Stats cheat and look the runs up? I bet that would spoil the fun. Is the next tread going to be about reacton times? |
Re: The fastest car by class your vote
Adger, It'll probably be a "my buddy's thing is bigger than yours" deal. "Nitro" doesn't have every run in NHRA for 2009, and everyone has a buddy whose been sandbaggin'. Wait until we get to the populated classes!

Mark....lol........your subtle humor made me laugh.. for those who dont catch the drift, ive seen what Mark`s mustang is capable of in V/SA
|
Re: The fastest car by class your vote
Maybe just national event times
|
Re: The fastest car by class your vote
I think I may know what kind of car is fastest in AA/SA....
|
Re: The fastest car by class your vote
Mark, Jerry,
I feel you guys are right on.. The Sand baggers real performance don't show up in Joe's stats. Most of them don't expose themselves or show their potential, except in testing or an occasional Class Run. It might be interesting to see how this tread plays out in relation to Joe's stats. Mark... how about "Inside, not Curve"? |

I know the fastest SS/IA car is sitting in my garage!!! The car is undefeated in heads up runs!!!

Re: The fastest car by class your vote
Hey Mark, Wanna race title for title?
P.S My thing is definitely bigger than yours. |
Re: The fastest car by class your vote
My money is on Joe,Nitro's stats may not show everything but I'd say Joe has the incrementals he needs to estimate how fast some cars could go. It's not to hard to figure out when you look at MPH during elims. you've got higher classed cars running 10-20 mph slow for their ET.and it's not hard to figure out who dials soft when they run dead on to .01-.02 above and MPH varies 5-10MPH.over 5-6 rounds.I must stink at driving cause I only run consistent flat out,and I can't judge to tighten up to .003 at the stripe, maybe there is special brakes that scrub off all that MPH without changing ET,LOL

Re: The fastest car by class your vote
Scroll down the U.S. Nationals Class Winner list to find the fastest in each class. Everybody else talks big with fish stories....

Re: The fastest car by class your vote
Friendly racer,
That's a good theory but hardly true. With over 800 superstockers in the country and only 160-170 entered at Indy I'd be willing to bet that some of the 600+ not entered could easily give some of the class winners a run. I can think of of a few that weren't at Indy this year. Rick |

First you'll have to set the record and go through teardown, so we'll know what that thing is worth. I'll try to leave you a few hundredths to work with. |
Re: The fastest car by class your vote
Gee wiz Mark, Denver? Nope, I was thinking the winter nats :-), And I have set the record and been thru teardown (aug @ Portland national open). It would be nice of you to let me have a tenth or so at the tree though. I assume you will be driving right? Should we go best two out of three? Any one wanna make a side bet?

I didn't know you set the record. That might be news to several other people: V/SA 14.51 09/26/09 Mike Jeffrey - Lexington, NE '80 Dodge Pierre, SD V/SA 92.21 04/19/08 Norman Griffis - Johnston, SC '84 Pontiac Cecil, GA How about an unofficial poll, right here: |
Re: The fastest car by class your vote
hey mark does your sled still fit v/s ??? if so he has the fastest v/s if not ...
wild bill andrews and the venerable "witch doctor" gets the nod... even though he hasnt run in last few years car is still there has gone over -1.15 on old indexes and has fresh motor. u/s see above - yacavone u/sa ... king kong... bob the caddy shaw hands down fastest car in class and in the country vs indexes including the new mustangs... ill bet $$$$ on a showdown :) jack mccarthy |
Re: The fastest car by class your vote
OK Steve, thanks for the info. That's what this thread is all about; braggin' rights with a little honesty thrown in.

Re: The fastest car by class your vote
JRyan
Bragging rights, Ha I got braging rights. I hammered Bob Shaw at the tree (albiet he was having major ignition problems) by .900 His Caddy is the fastest under the index car in the country. I was so far ahead I could see his front bumper. Now thats some bragging rights. Jack, now don't you go picking on these unknowledgeable individuals. Betting money on somebody while holding back a couple of seconds, I mean tenths. Other than Bob, you have got some serious players for U/SA: Myers, Remmington, Wright, Lacy, McCarthy, Tolson, Nees, Wong, Yacavone, I can't remember his name but the green Nova from FL, Koopman, Hardy, and anybody else that I am not aware of. Ron Ortiz U/SA oh! I forgot, Bob passed me in second gear and I watched his scoreboard light up. |

Re: The fastest car by class your vote
Jerry, btw, I Do have every run every person has made at a NHRA National event, divisional or National open in 2009, all you see in my stats book is everybody's best runs
BTW, No I'm not it was double the amount of work to try to figure out the system, I'm retired till end of Jan. lol I put a lot of time and hours and think and try to do the best job i know how to. And the sand bagging deal, i laugh when i look at the mph's at times when i get the stuff. |
Re: The fastest car by class your vote
No you don't Joe,
You don't have any from the National Open at Oahe Speedway. Monty Jones and Mike Jeffery both set records there. I don't know if it was their fastest runs of the year. But, I made my only runs of the year in SS/NA and I'm not listed in SS/NA and Kandra Vallani ran our SS/MA car and she's not in there either. |

Artie had a Plymouth Acclaim (Dodge Spirit) that ran -2.04 under the index. He is the king!
BTW That is the same car I had until this year and after being hit no less that 4 times I still ran -1.73 under! Jim |

Ed
Artie sold the van last I heard. |
Re: The fastest car by class your vote
I think Ed is refering to the CF/S Caravan that is owned by Bill Howell. He still owns it.
Yac, I know about that run, I was there, however it was not official. It was the CIC race. NHRA did not, and does not recognize that race. It's like a weekly bracket race. Jim |
