Battery ?
Any significant differences between the Everstart Maxx from Wal-Mart and the Energizer from Sam's Club? Both are priced at $75 dollars and have a 3 year full replacement warranty. The Everstart has a 9 year prorated warranty while the Energizer is 7 year. This is a 65 series size battery. I think the Energizer is made by Johnson Controls, not sure about the Everstart.
Thanks, John |
Re: Battery ?
Both are made by Johnson Controls!!!!--Check out Coatco Kirkland batteries --No PRO Rate when it comes to warranty---What you paid is what you get credited if the battery goes bad--Comp 387

Re: Battery ?
as a matter of fact "I believe" but I am not sure that Johnson controls makes Sears--Interstate Battery-Walmart-Kmart and a few others--- as was just said they just put a label on it for whoever is marketing them----Many different "brands" all on the same truck being delivered by Johnson Controls ----

Re: Battery ?
Costco is not an option as the nearest one is over 100 miles away.

Too bad 'nuthin' isn't a choice. I bought an Interstate farm battery with a 30 mo warranty. Dead cell at 22 mos. Went back and first they told it was nothing wrong with it. I beg to differ. Finally they put it on a 'low charge' test and it failed-dead cell. With the 'pro-rated' warranty, the difference was $105. I said "I didnt pay that much when I bought those batterys'. She said Interstate takes the MSRP and deducts the warrant. She said '....you can buy the battery straight out for $95.....' I'll pick something else. _________________________________ Andy Stone 1102 A/S 1112 SS/C |
Re: Battery ?
Really its much cheaper and less aggravating to just replace the battery everyyear with a NEW one-----just consider it part of the cost of racing ---its like buying new slicks/oil plugs etc. ---things do wear out---so its a $100, you probably spend that much in time and gas running back and forth trying to talk some clerk into giving you one for free or at a deep discount---F--- it just buy the damn thing and throw it in the trailer as a spare---Comp387

Re: Battery ?
My original ? was about Energizer from Sam's Club or Everstart Maxx fro Wal-Mart, this is not for my racecar & those are the only two I'm interested in. I also had an Interstate in my tractor which lasted about a year or so, replaced it with a cheap one from Wal-Mart which is still going strong after 5 years.

with the Wal-Mart battery, just go get one from Wal-Mart. I've had good luck with batteries from Costco, but I would be willing to bet that the Wal-Mart battery would be a good choice too. |
Re: Battery ?
I have an Optima red top now for 4 years,no problems.BUT during the off season I use a
Battery Tender on it and the marine battery I use in the trailer. The marine battery is now 6 years old and still fine. The fluid level does need to be kept after though.I also have a BT on my Dakota, which gets very little use in the off season. They cost about $50 on ebay, well worth the cost. |
Re: Battery ?
John,
I know there are more Walmart's around the USA than Costco's ... I have use Walmart for almost 12 years and never had any troubles returning anything .... Yes, they are located all over the USA, Costco is a good company, but I have to travel 100 miles to the next closet one in my area... There are three Walmart's with in 25 miles... Good Luck, think ahead , so when you maybe traveling............. |
Re: Battery ?

Re: Battery ?
Not exactly what you are asking but here is my 2 cents. ;)
Hands down, Deka Imtimidator. The one in my wagon served 5 years in a 454 dually before going into the wagon 3+? years ago. Alot of "battery issues" have nothing to do with the battery. The Deka is daul terminal. I make my own heavy gauge wire from the alt and go direct to the top post. Proper sized cables go a long way, most people neglect the nega/ground side, it is more important then the postive side. Do it once, right. All connections get Noalox on the inside/connection surfaces. After all connection are set they are coated with dielectric grease on the outside. In the imortal words of Ron Popiel, "set it and forget it". |
