Tire Thoughts?
 

I'm looking for some thoughts and opinions on a rear tire:

I have a super street tube chassis car with a 15x15 wheel, and currently run a 33x15 Hoosier. I've been running about 8psi.

Another catch...to make s/st weight i have to hang about 300lbs of ballast in the trunk. I seem to kill the sidewalls after about 60 runs. I feel I should get more runs out of a set of tires.
Any suggestions on a particular brand/compound that would work good for me?

I ran a 64 Nova with 29 x 10.5 Hoosiers, the car weighted 3050 with driver..
Yes a big driver hahahah Any way, i had a problem with inconsistent 60' times. I was told to run tubes, it helped bunches. I would get over 80 passes on my tires.

Tubes could be worth a try.

no not chassis-ed... leaf springs and slapper bars.
Car left hard too. No Comments from the peanut gallery!!!! :D
left hard at Indy when the axle snapped too....

I'm not against running Mickeys at all. I run them on one of my small tire cars and they work great. What compound and tire preasure have you found work the best?

I remember the axle snapping....it must have been taxed too....lol

Great Tire, ran them on our SST Mustang in Div 3 for years. They have a Stiff Sidewall for better RT's on the pro tree and a soft compound. Our car was a tube chassis car and we had to add weight to make the 2800#'s. We ran around 6-6.5 psi and had no trouble.

We could get a whole season out of these tires, they don't need much smoke to hook!!!

MT has the stiffest side wall tire. Its not always listed but is a SS side wall (super stiff). Thes best there is for a heavier car.

I am working on something and trying to get back in the game again...
I will be at the track more this year for sure... you may see me in the Fuel pits with Greek or in my car..... either way i will be around or is that round. :)

Funny. I've been called worse, just today.

You don't have to worry about your tires if you drive the stripe like you did against me...at least not after the first round.
