Pomona stock entries
Looking at the entries it seems the field is at max and not one Mustang and only two DP cars.I don't see either one entered under the drooze banner.Unless it is entered by a former or current world champion or former Winternats winner.Veddy interesting.

Re: Pomona stock entries
Were good....
The car may not be but driver and reg are taken care of..... That way .... well... youll see.....itll be fun for the whole family :) I DAMM Near shot myself in the foot with another post here and said where he could be found in an interesting and pretty impressive stat, but a cross of those lists would have probably given it away.......The Hail to the Champs, I think or Dec 14th edition.....but hes in there.....and like I said the stat alone woulda given him away......almost blew it.....almost. Hes having as much fun with it as we are.....you guys make him smile every time you yank my chain..... Up for a bet Ed ? IF We make Pomona that is, the car as you know is a bit behind schedule now, and Ill already owe John Irving dinner if we dont make it. Or if he runs further under. Interested in a little "wager" on our driver IF I dont blow the car up in testing ? You may not .... damm nearly did it again....you really havent figured out who it is yet ? I dont have anything in mind on a bet.....so throw some ideas, stakes and what exactly to wager on.:D Quote:

And if Ed is playing around and yanking my chain in good spirits like I think he is, whats next you gonna tell him he shouldnt be or we should be more seious or respectful or what he should be doing ?.....WTF dude you really need to lighten up.....being so...serious/negative really isnt good for your health, if I were you Ide see a Doctor about that. Re: Pomona stock entries
Well put X-tech man. Dooze get a life and stop posting every three mins. We all love class racing but you are trying to fit in way to hard. You don't get more points for posting 5 times or more a day.

Re: Pomona stock entries
I think Droozie is going to set another record without knowing it... 352 post already and still going .I wonder what the record for post is and who has the most ? Can anyone beat 347 in 4 months ? I am going to make a list and keep it updated...LOL just post your total and I 'll update the list..LoL
1. Drozie (352 post dived by 4 months= 88per month or 2.93 per day , not really bad) 2. next person to type 140 wpm 3. ? 4 ? |

I just want to see droozie race Irv heads up. And I will bet he can't run within a tenth of Irv. That is if Irv keeps has car at B/SA weight .
Class racer record holder most posts with in a five month period Doozie Barberton OHIO posts 347@ 150 days (346 of them point less) |

Sweeettt....Do I win something ?
In as much as a life, sorry I have temporarily suspended my life until after Gainesville. In as much as points, I get air miles depding on my internet usage (im wireless and half are from my phone anyway. Sheesh Ed , did the Post Police gater a Possee while I wasnt paying attention ? In as much as Irv goes....hell if I can run within 3 tenths of him on our first outing Ill be drooling blabbering (more than usual) happy.....Im not that screwy....hes top dog in a DP...simple. We made a lot of choices gear, converter, headers etc based on what he was doing , its what worked.....sorry Irv...I copied :) I still dont know if were running A or AA yet...will depend on the rest of the field. AND A SCJ Will be there, probably 2. Which is one of the reasons well probably run A while we can.... Life ? HA.....sorry none to get..........until after Gainesville then Ive got my eye on an Aprillia "Works" bike....its calling me...."Chris I wont kill you.....Chris......I need to be raced....Chris....." The meds were supposed to clear the bike voices up but eh.....salright.....The car hasnt started talking yet....but I swear I hear it whisper....."if you build it they will be jealous" ..... Apparently Ive seen field of dreams too many times 348 and Counting ! Quote:

Re: Pomona stock entries
Is your car behind because you are waiting on parts or because you spend too much time on the internet? Its none of my business but if you dont show in pomona or the car cant run the number I have a feeling you are going to get it BAD from these guys you might want to get to work if you got the parts.

Re: Pomona stock entries
Im behind because My dad was in the Hopital with pneumonia and clots in his lungs because he quit taking his damm Cumaden so he could pass medical in Oct, and he never restarted it.....thatll teach him, then I spent the next 11 days in Cincy hospital with my son because he had a small bowel obstruction.....But everyone is good now, the old man is somewhere sailing in the Carribean and my son is driving me nuts as usual.
Not a whole lot to do sitting in a hospital room I gotta tell you...... So that was my last 2 weeks. (and hence the increased quantity of posts) Off for fastners.... Quote:

Re: Pomona stock entries
Drooze,
Glad to hear everyone is doing better, now get racing and good luck out West......... |
Re: Pomona stock entries
Drooze; I've got to thank you. See, I've been feeling badly and down in the dumps the last few weeks, but you.......with your cheery and positive attitude, plus not taking your critics too seriously, has put me in a better mood. All the best on your racing efforts, and I'm glad your dad and son are feeling better too!
Oh yeah, don't take Eddie too seriously, his bark is way worse than his bite. Deep down, he's really a sweetheart. But you know how those " Kelvinator " racers can get. |
Re: Pomona stock entries
Lol...thanks Don....
I have to ask "Kelvinator" racers ? Never heard that one before....like as in Refrigerator ? Can you race those ? Noone told me, lol... Quote:

Re: Pomona stock entries
Ed is Don picking on you I got your back LOL.
|
Re: Pomona stock entries
Drooze! I thought you were older, but for your info American Motors used to be the builder of Kelvinator Refrigerators (spell) , hence the AMC's called Kelvinators, or Ramblers, or Kenosha Vibraters, etc !
Why don't you just tell who is driving your car ? It's not a big deal, Just have a good time racing !...........Later.......John |
Re: Pomona stock entries
Cause its too much fun to keep it quiet :D:D:D Noone (well some) dont believe it anyway....itll be that much more fun, AND If I fall flat on my face and break something in testing it wont reflect badly on him, that was my idea......but hes with us for a while early in the year so.....there will be Gainesiville....
Im 38.....so a little young, AMC was in its death throws by then.....I had a 64 Rambler I drove to death....2 dr looked like a bar of Ivory Soap, had white fresh paint and light blue interior....AND A TORQUE TUBE ! On a 64...And vacum wipers...No wonder they went out of business....lol.. I get it now.....AMC, Kelvinator.....gotcha.... Quote:

No, if something happens and Pomona is a Wash a couple point/div in Florida then Gainesville..
The westward trip is supposed to hit both for us, we wouldnt go except for that plan....to far to drive and then back to our coast for just 1 event. But if today was any indicator Pomona is looking good....mad work done today. Quote:

Re: Pomona stock entries
Now I am old enough to not only remember Kelvinators but I had the distinct pleasure of working on many Ramblers of the day.......They were a bit behind the times as I recall. Still had flathead engines when everyone else had OHV's. They aslo used some really ancient stuff in the front end and had the last closed driveshaft-torque tube arrangement that I recall. I had an old lady customer with a Rambler wagon......manual trans and a flathead. She used to ride that clutch to death and I changed it more than once. Disconnect the entire rear and roll it rearward to get the trans and clutch out.....
I do recall an old Rambler that layed in our station for a good long while with a 327 ohv V8 and I think it had a 4 barrel carb. It was an AMC engine not a Chevy...... I also worked on postal vehicles some and Jeeps later in my mechanic life......AM General built the Post offfice vehicles out of some the cheapest parts they could find......Maybe they still build them ? Now Jeeps were my real favorites back in the mid to late 70's.........I worked in a dealership...Pontiac-Jeep-Subaru.........Seemed to me like the Jeeps were built with almost anything AMC could find laying around.......you just never knew what was under that hood !!! LOL.... GM was doing the same thing though........Pontiacs had all kinds of engines under the hoods.....A class action suit was won over that one...... Kelvinators were actually pretty good refrigerators I think............. |

production cars that year. There's probably a bunch more I can't think of off hand' The torque tubes were only in the Classics and Ambassadors in 1964 I think. Then for 1965 they were gone. The trunnion front suspensions were a bit fugazy, but the AMX's and Javelins had them even used them through 1969.FYI ALL Gen 2 (287-327) and Gen 3 engines (290-390) were high nickel content including the heads. All 390 and 401s had steel cranks and rods. They were available in FS Jeeps,Ambassador,Rebel,AMX and Javelins.Granted the Borg Warner autos left a lot to be desired, but in1972 the Chrysler TF became the std.auto across the line.SS Amx's can still hold their own despite the lack of extensive parts and R&D over the years.Even my 6 cylinder can run pretty quick for a granny car engine. So yeah Antique Motors Corp belongs in the archives with the dinosaurs. |
Re: Pomona stock entries
Ed.......you are a wealth of knowledge on those old tankers!
I have to admit I thought the fastback Javelin was a nice looking car around 1970 or so. I was with my wife one night in a dealership getting a price on one. I was wanting to buy a new car and those Javelins in the right color looked good to me. My best friend at the time bought a 340 Duster all in black and it went some low 14's at Island. I had a '67 GTO and was wanting something new. My eyes were bigger than my wallet and I came to my senses and kept the Goat for a while longer. I got tired of adding fluids from all the leaks it developed and sold it to a future NY Yankee pitcher.......Wish I had it back now! P.S. I did fix the leaks before I sold it.......Rear main seal and front disc brake calipers were always weeping......That car was loaded and mint and chirped the tires on the 1-2 every time ( trubo 400-his and hers shifter) Crager SS's |
Re: Pomona stock entries
Rich, the older I get the more I forget.I knew a whole bunch more years ago.The only way I remember some of this stuff is when I get prompts and then the info comes back to me.There are some things that suck about getting old.

Re: Pomona stock entries
In 1974 I bought a blue 1970 Javelin SST had a cold air hood and a big spoiler on the back with Mark Donahues signature on it.They called it a Javelin T/A. Paid 1500.00 cash for it (I borrowed from my dad) It had a 360 with a big AVS carb T/F trans Chevy dist, and yes, vacum w/wipers. I dont remember how many miles it had but they must have been hard miles. This thing was fast as hell but stayed broke all the time.I loved it, and was a beautiful car, but I couldnt afford to keep it running. So I swapped it for a 69 Mach 1
Man those cars were cheap in the mid and late 70,s |
