IHRA is using the old indexes. They didn't take the 3 tenths that NHRA did.
Doug Patrick has always gone fast with that car.

I know first hand Doug has busted his arse on this combo and should be proud of his accomplishment. I don't think there are others who've worked this one so he's pretty much in control of it.

Hats off to him and congrats on #1 qualifier.

Not even close. Remember he just gave himself (Sorry Doug!) 4 horsepower last month. I think that was due to a run in Seattle and another in Sonoma.

Al, I got a new IHRA paper yesterday, and the evidently lowered the SS indexes two tenths instead of three. I don'tknow what the stock indexes are, the the SS indexes are down two. Mine was 11.30, now 11.10. Mine is now 11.00 in NHRA.

Not to take anything away from the guys running this combination, but 250HP, now 254 is a super soft joke! Any other 350 combination GM or otherwise is carrying alot more HP. NHRA dropped 25 HP off this Olds combination about 1997. The stick shift version of this 350 carrys 25 more HP because the cam is a little bigger. Believe me, that cam ain't worth 25HP! Doug's car is fast, but it should be at 254.
My 360 Mopar, with only10 more cubes carries 30 more HP, he's got a gift!

Drag race central qualifying showed them not changed on Friday . They are not going to be changed unless something like this happens.

I think Ed looked quick and saw SS/J which has always been 11.10, not SS/JA which is still 11.30 as always...

Great Run and Yes it 's super fast car, there are several but his is the fastest ... Plus he runs Fast everywhere he goes....

Tom,

I think the 360 ci mopar's have been thrashed alot more, plus that was a very popular combo... Now you have the 340 & 318 combo's...

Damn, it didn't take long for this to take a compliment into a bash.... Didn't see the "soft" complaint coming from a guy running a 360. LOL.

I will give Doug credit, he has taken that car everywhere to race, so he isn't hiding from anyone that might want to take him on. What is wrong with that?

My only point was 10 years or so ago that Olds 350 was rated at 275hp. Someone was smart enough to get it dropped, or NHRA was dumb enough to drop 25hp off that combination. That's alot at one time!
All of the GM 350's of that vintage are higher than that by far. My only point was it doesn't take as much effort to go that fast when the HP is to the low side. These guys are taking advantage of a good thing.
Like I said, I have nothing against the owners, I'm sure they are all great guys and work hard., but those are the facts.
Sam Murray has the same motor (bigger cam) and his is 275hp, and at one time was 280hp. Now his car is REAL fast with an honest HP figure.

Tom Young, I'll help you out the 72 Buick 350 has a hp rating of 270. Remember this is the same motor in the Skylark that grandma drove to bingo every Sat. night.
