Weldon Fuel Pumps
 

Has any one taken advantage of Weldons $500.00 trade in for your old fuel pump? Seems to good to be ture since new pump would have a Lifetime Waranty.

I think a new fuel pump from Weldon is over $1,000 so you will still be paying over $500 for a new pump. I think you can get a top of the line Aeromotive for about $350.

BUT would have a Lifetime Waranty and aircraft quality. Seems to me it would be good for the life of the car then some. But sure am leaning that way. I had heard through the Grapevine that FJ Smith had same pump on dyno for over 20 years.

I bought one at what I thought was a good discount but not this good of a deal.

I agree you sure do get what you pay for. I heard Weldon makes a nicely machined product. I am not placing any doubt in their quality and reliability but I would like to see the terms of their lifetime guarantee. Over $500 is a lot of money for a fuel pump.

To me it's a great way to get rid of something that's a pile of crap. Something like a Barry Grant pump. Spending another $500 to get a Weldon would be money well spent and it will keep the BG pump out of our landfills.

I'm really happy with my Aeromotive. But I may take a look at this offer. I like the warranty and from what I hear, Weldon is a quality piece. Question is is Weldon any better?

I agree with you Jeff. Is it $200 better than the Aeromotive? BTW are you going to Firebird next week?

The Weldon 600A which compares to the Aeromotive is only $325. It also has the lifetime warranty and is much quieter than the Aeromotive.

Yes they are well worth the money and there pumps will never wear out. They are made of harden tool steel and have no plastic or other components that can wear out. Call and ask for Jim Craig and he can tell you about the entire program. There is more to the program. They also pay in 2010.

Call them it will be worth your time.

Doubtful. Believe it or not, real estate is hoping again and buyers are buying. I had too many lean months to let anything slip through my fingers right now. But if my buddy Rob decides to come, I might go and help him out. Not that he needs it...

It was offered since that pump is an equivalent (flow-wise) of the most electric fuel pumps offered (and used) in the market today.

The fuel pump listed in the ad is not recommended for lower hp'd vehicles (below 1200 hp) -- that pump will support well over 2000 hp at carb pressure. Even though many individuals use large displacement fuel pumps for lower hp'd engines -- Weldon doesn't perscribe to that thinking. Think of it this way, if your motor on its worst day only can consume 100 gph of fuel, why are you "killing it" with over 400 -- you've got to do something with the excess and returning it only heats it up which can cause decreased engine performance.

Not saying that pump is not for everyone, but you'll be better off if you size it to the engine or application for reliability and consistency. Weldon's got a few options..................

I was checking out a 10 second D/SA 390 Mustang, and got to the fuel system, which was equipped with a 3/8 fuel line and a Holley Blue pump, I asked him about it, he replied it works, why mess with it.......

I wish I would have seen it before I bought the high dollar piece-o-crap Barry Grant pump and changed the line to 1/2'' can buy a lot of Holley Blue pumps for the price of some of these high dollar pumps, and service them twice a year......

You are correct, if it's not broke, don't fix it -- but there are economical alternatives available and you've got to do your homework. One thing about the Weldon, as long as you keep your fuel properly filtered (before the pump) -- you will never need to send it in for a "re-build", no such thing.................

Last July Richard Maskins chewed my *** on the whole Fuel pump deal on my new 572 he built for me. I was going to use my belt drive pump and he just let me have it, picked up his cell right there Engine, fresh off the Dyno and called Jim Craig. and said here order what you need. Jim dialed me in on a whole new kit, I went to E-town the following week and runnered -up in S/Comp in My Beretta. Weldon provides Racers the very best in customer service and the best products out there. If quality and cost is an issue then you need to find another form of racing. There is no way of doing what we do and using inexpensive parts. Weldon is the very best I've seen and they pay contingency- ON Time!

A consideration with class racing which many people do not take into account is not everybody runs a Holley carb with two needles, two seats, two bowls. So the option is not a blue pump and regulator. Not if your going fast at least.
Q-Jets have small bowls as do Autolites like I run. The WAFB's I believe are also small.
I've run the "standard" systems (as prescribed by the manufacturer) and have seen their limitations. I've heard the sales reps arguments that "this is all you need" and proven them wrong. There are improvements to ET & MPH in fuel systems. Some are not using the "accepted" systems and finding consistent power.
