Re: Drooze
I don't know about drooze, I lost the handle on his leash, so who knows where and when he will show up.
But I am in Atlanta with the MegaManiac (I mean the car, not necessarily drooze) Last I saw hime, he was searching a field with a flashlight trying to find Altanta Dragway. David The New Hemi Guy ________ Suzuki Gr650 Tempter |

Re: Drooze
Gary, good luck at the races. Be good be safe. You have to carry the ASRA flag for all of us still dreaming about Spring, asphalt and green grass.
Please let every one know when you finally meet the Drooze in person. It seems impossible to me to have someone post 5,600 threads, some of them quite lenghty, build a car, blow up two engines, leave home to race and end up a week earlier than the race was scheduled. We'll see you when our season starts. Mike Cleary SS/IA 1389:) |
Re: Drooze
Hi Mike, Nice to hear from you. I have met the drooze in person. Seems like a nice guy.We wll be getting our first TT in a few minutes. Take care Gary

My "Hero" of mythology is Sisyphus, smart enough to trick Hades only to be punished by an eternity of rolling a stone uphill to have it roll down lather rinse repeat. Step 2 get the car dialed in right, Im thinking it will take this weekend and another T&T, I am thinking Im going to need a second battery using 8 20 amp igniters for the coils and jumping a .060 gap Im lacking amps and getting some cut, were working on that today, if not tommorow Ill go with some 12 amp igniters I have. Just all the fun of setting/wringing a new setup out. Plus Ive got a LOT of em noise from, well lets say "nuclear option" items....Ive got some shielding to do....have roof flashing and windows screen as well as mylar covered bubble wrap resady to build some faraday cages in the car. First I need to isolate the noise thought. But all fun.... Met some great people, all great people, well 1 dick but hes not a stocker :) 5600 posts....sheesh 690......ok now 692.........5600.....damm If I got paid by the post maybe. (You forgot my bout of pneumonia, and being in the hospital with my son for weeks in the middle of that all ...lol) Cheers Chris |

Besides, I wont say its how you play the game, rather IF you play that what the loser usually says..... I got my grade point to Gaineville, and had time while going down the track in the Pacifica to change Neil Diamond tracks to Cracklin Rosie.....(seriously) |

Thanks Gary and Rich for the info. Drooze does exist!!!!.
Now my next project is the Loch Ness monster and the Sasquewatch, then I can rest. Have a great safe weekend. Mike Cleary SS/IA 1389:) |
Re: Drooze
Neil Diamond???
Damn thats whats wrong.......get some Nickelback the hell in there.....the car will go faster...... and the world loves a winner..........losers not so much... |
Re: Drooze
I take it your Pacifica is an AWD model, to have to run Q/SA? I assumed they were all FWD until I just looked it up. In either case, I still have a hard time believing that's all the faster it went. My bone stock Turismo went 20.45 the first weekend out (and then Billy Nees touched it!) I think we got a rental Stratus into the 18's before, too! Get to work! :p

Oh, and since you didn't come up as a DQ for fuel.... I hope you took the cat off the Pacifica before you swapped over to race fuel!

Re: Drooze
man i had to look up what the heck a 2004 Pacifica was, now was it a 215 ci, 234/250 or a 250/250 combo, lol
yikes !!!!!!! |
Re: Drooze
Pacifica?

Re: Drooze
Pacifica == Grade Point, mission accomplished.
My Truck wasnt in the Guides and Stewart was gracious enough to offer to bring a Super Gas car down to tech for us but I found the Pacifica was in the guide, the right 3 stickers, NHRA, Lucas etc and some Q/SA and 3132 Shoe Polish.....and who said I was running leaded race Gas :) Quote:

Re: Drooze
Were good, still having fun, havent had much testing (5 passes) under the car total, same tune that ran 10.87 yesterday did 11.6 today,,tune isnt the issue, amps and EMI are....those are on me, weve got solutions in play for both.
I dont see a turd I see a Drag Pak I built with my own hands, it will get to the low 10s and then into the 9s those arent questions in our mind, 1 issue at a time we need to resolve and well get there, you get there by doing it thinking about it, were "doing it" is it perfect no, is it a "turd" far from it,that would seem like a comment from the "Penut Gallery" and nothing more. Some people know, some pretend to know what is actually going on with a situation, we actually know, you are pretending. Simple...you have speculation and theory, nothing more, no actual knowledge of anything really going on, that is a fact, you can purport to, but people here in general know how to smell BS when they hear it. Im not sure if its jealousy, paranoia, just being a general ballbreaker or what the issues is...no matter we are here TRYING, to succeed you need to try , to try and fail is better than to try to downtalk someone else from an armchair, Were happy, our sponsors are happy, are we jumping for joy no, but we are learning and having fun, what else is there to life ? Just my 2 cents.... Quote:

Rich seems to break my balls at every corner, calling the car a turd was "uncalled for" I dont know what his issue is, the only thing I can muster is hes another one of the people.....well, I really have no idea, Ive tried to be as nice as possible, that over at this point, now it simply goes to ignore mode. You might be jealous if you were a V/SA car :) But speed wasnt what I was talkling about, rather the fact we did it, or the fact that people like yourself wish us well, or maybe hes jealous of my Hat ? I really have no clue..... |

Just so you know Chis.....I am no armchair racer..... I've raced for 40 plus years on and off........built engines.....raced a few cars...won a few races.....and helped others......You don;t need to lecture me about what it takes to race.....I do and have for years and years and on a blue collar budget........ If you had not written so many posts there wouldn't be anything for me to say other than a new guy looks like he's having trouble sorting out a new car...... The Turd comment was made strictly in fun......sorry if it struck a nerve....I'll leave you to chase it on your own....... |

That was 11 runs ago, And look where I wound up. My car was a turd 10 runs ago. What a difference 10 runs can make. Nitro Joe is going to have to update his top guns. LOL And you only have 5 on it so far. |

Re: Drooze
Chris and Dave: Half-dozen passes, brand new racecar, a few bugs.....most EVERYONE goes thru this....keep plugging, get the seat time, tomorrow's another day....things will come together. There's a helluva lot more people here that want you to succeed, rather than to fail, you both know that.... WJ

AND I got (and the old man) to sign an "Autograph" today if you can believe that....lol. Probably the last and why it was wanted I dono, cant forge a check with it.well you could but the bank would bounce it :)...Ill know I really made it when its on Ebay :D I have had at least 6 or 7 people (outside of anyone Ive met here, come up and say "You dont know me but weve been following you" and pat us on the back) I was really suprised....lol...very, saw an NHRA guy walking up to me in Staging, and I thought, oh crap what did I do, for him to say the same thing....and shake my hand and continue on...that was cool. (and really cool I didnt do something (again) that got a :"HEY What are you doing" last one of those was about 4 years ago...lol) Thanks WJ were gonna keep on plugging going to SGMP after for some real , wrung out testing........and its on the way to Gainesville. The old man needs to get more seat time (and me too) like you said, it looks like after I get it there Ill have to peel off to Ohio for a few days and handle some things with my son , I dont think Ill be back till friday so, Wed well get him all set up for Thursday....then back..... Thanks WJ, needed that......and some sleep, and apprently some sun block I got a bit of sun today, or wind....not sure which, but Im red as a beet. |
Re: Drooze
Want my .02?....Quit blamming yourself. Like it or not, don't let Toyota dude's tune an EFI Mopar. Your car should have ran a WHOLE lot quicker.
I know what these new Hemi engines can produce. BTW, You know as well I do, I make a good part of my living building and tuning them. |

Re: Drooze
Once again, I have to give you guys an A for effort. For most of us, new cars have to be sorted out. Very seldom do they run fast right out of the box, although we always hope they will. You'll get there and I'm sure sooner rather than later.
I was born and raised in Akron. If I still lived there, I would enjoy coming around to lend a helping hand or at least give moral support. Unlike Garlits, Jeggie or Roy Allen, I know you guys did do the majority of the work yourselves. That's what sportsman racing used to be all about. Not just showing up on race day with your helmut in hand. |
Re: Drooze
An 8.99, yes I think in a year they will be capable possibly, youve ever put your hands in one of the Drag Pak motors, and know what the numbers on the spec side (not the blueprint guide) but flow numbers and dyno numbers of these engines then yes.... well I can tell you there are about 5 other guys right now who were sharing R&D info with that all agree between us well have 6 cam profiles and 5 different configs of headers as well as the trans stuff all by Gainesville....soo....much more effort than we could afford to do on our own or them on their own.....do any of us think its guarenteed ? No, do we think its possible , yes......are on the Im not saying its a lock, Im saying its possible I believe with some R&D and running out.......They are already with the few out there at 9.7s and fat. soooooooo......Probably the way they are theyre already good for 9.6.
Like I said to someone else my favorite quote is from Einstein "Wether you think you can or not youre right" so, in as much as you building one youre right, in as much as me building one Im right, were both right see how easy that was Timeslips coming Pomona to Gainesville Irv, the blog is http://newhemiracing.blogspot.com, I did it so I could track build progress and show others what they will be up against in terms of those like us who choose to do the rest of the build themselves with their own hands. Stupid shtuffzzz like this will get in the way of that and the like. In as much as having no clue goes.......Its late and Im tired so maybe I took what you said the wrong way. If not, Ill be happy to wager Our car will be faster by Gainesville than any of your DP builds Name the stakes something friendly and in good spirit. Lunch, Dinner, a Ball Game. I heard you were doing a few more builds is that correct ? (Mind asking who for Zeeeee list ?) Well see in a year from now if I was right, and youll see our timeslips dont expect our combo to be dialed in and wrung out till Gainesville.....Its looking very possible well be showing up at Pomona untested. Would be a real kick to you guys if the guys who dont know jack run faster the first time out than Warford did wouldnt it Cheers Chris Drooze: her's you quote from a while back, I don't guess you showed up Warford. Now you know ther's more to it than typing a 160WPM on a keyboard..Post your time slips as you said. Good Luck |

Re: Drooze
Lol...thanks irv...touche....just like your rant about "disrespecting" the other DP owners....by adding HP ? Lol....whos got it under review ?
Right now weve got a rod hanging outta the pan.... Probably the biggest oildown all weekend, that I feel bad about I wanted to grab a mop and start cleaning it up myself..... But live and learn, new motor will be ready to go as soon as I can get my hands on some pistons. Everything else is sitting waitng, then itll be my motor. And well....well continue to have fun. Were still having fun, could be more fun, well...it will continue. Were not "going away" , , well still keep I got an 10.87 timeslip...lol...Im gonna frame it :) Youre right we didne beat Warford, or you, we may have set a record though for the slowest DP pass...It woulda been nice, but weve still got some gremlins to sort out on things we did differnt. Well get em sorted out and have fun doing it , doing it all ourselves. As far as being quiet...nah aint gonna happen. Were having fun, if you were here youd see that even with a rod in the bottom of the pan, all is well Dad is healthy and weve got more stories in our life. THAT is worth more than anything..... Cheers Chris |
