New Grade Point Deal?????????

Now that nhra has let Kurt Busch enter the Gators, Will they change the ruling on not having a grade point to get in a non full field, or revert back to the old rule.

There was a post on another site that said Kurt's car was teched at Commerce so it seems he does have a grading point!

Re: New Grade Point Deal?????????

OMG! Can we please put this to rest already!

1. No one was bumped, the class wasn't full.
2. He is running super gas, not stock or super stock. With a car that is going to be tough to be competitve.
3. He apparently got a grade point in Atlanta.

There is no real bad side to this. Someone in SG has probably got an easy ride into 2nd round AND the sportsman will probably get some well deserved attention!

My post is not about Kurt getting into the Gators
It is how they (nhra) will handle this situation in
the future. Will anybody be able to get in an event
without a grading point.

Boy, some must have a boring life to bitch about Kurt Bush running super gas, this may be the first pair anybody ever watch.

As a young lad growing up at the track and around some great racers, I was told every time we discussed something related to NHRA never use LOGIC..... But, I will say it anyways, You would think with low car counts they would remove grade points for now..
Probably some of the best advice givin huh!!!

SC1317 03-11-2010 11:57 AM

Re: New Grade Point Deal?????????

Hammer, we both know that NHRA will not change the grade points. Their reasoning "probably" that if they remove them that less people will go to divisionals. Can't have that, less money (sarcasm).

It also "appears" Busch got his grade point. That kind of takes away the basis for asking for no grade points.

I really hope I get to meet alot of the people this summer that I get to have all this fun banter with. Makes the NY winters go by a little faster! So please, if anyone is out and about in D1 this year, look me up. I'm one of those cars that no one watches! LOL

I have heared alot of reference to people seeing Kurts car at the divisional. But I have not herared one person say they seen him at the race. I would think to get a grade point he would have to be with his car.

As long as a "crew chief" has your comp license, signed tech card, and a car, you can get through tech...hence a grade point.

Right or wrong, that's the way it is.

Isn't the driver REQUIRED to sign the entry ? So he'd need to be present ??

Re: New Grade Point Deal?????????

Thats what I thought don't they ask for you drivers license? I could really care less if Kurt races I was just curios how you could get a grade point with out being there. If that is the case you will have people pulling all kind of stunts to get grade points with out going to a divisional race.

Re: New Grade Point Deal?????????

I don't want to start a fuss but with all the car counts low at all the races why not do away with grade points and allow open fields or fill the field with grade point owners and if there are any open slots fill them with first come/first serve non-grade point racers?

Just wondering

Because it's too logical

I've been saying the same thing since the car counts started dropping with the economy.....after the one grade point cut-off open it up to zero and keep it open through tech-in....JM.02

Makes perfect sense to me.

Re: New Grade Point Deal?????????

Obviously NHRA is trying to support the tracks that agree to run Divisonal races.
Surely Divisional car counts are dropping because it takes less grade points for Nationals.
No grade points required by IHRA.
