Locking Trans Dip Stick
Does anyone make a flex assembly that will pass the rule for locking transmission dip sticks. We currently run a unit purchased from Mancini Racing and the stick is sealed with o-rings and fits tight, hafta really tug on it, to get it out. The standard tube style will not work in our Avenger because the mid mount is in the way. Any suggestions?

Re: Locking Trans Dip Stick
I went to my local U-Pull It junkyard and got a couple locking dipsticks from newer GM vehicles. You can then cut and weld your dipstick to the locking one, remark the locking dipstick to your length or put your dipstick in your trailer and use just the locking portion of the locking dipstick in your dipstick tube if it is the same diameter.

In my Avenger i had the same issue! no room! i just installed a short dragster style it's fine. once you install the propper fluid amount no need to check it after that, so why have it in the way....

Re: Locking Trans Dip Stick
I think Lokar has a flexible locking dip stick for both engine and trans.

Re: Locking Trans Dip Stick
Lokar has a flexible dip stick tube but its a pain to install. You have to remove the pan, so you can bolt it to the case. Of course it doesnt push in easy , you really have to work with it. I was replacing my non locking Lokar dip stick tube with the locking one and the bracket doesnt match up. So you have to drill new holes for the bracket. All this and its not easy to read, i dont know why other than the tube hangs so low in to the pan. But its flexible, its got that going for it. oh yea its also over $110

Lokar makes one for the 350 turbo. Dave Smith at Pro Trans and me turned down the pan nut and slotted it to tighten it. No problems so far. ss/as 6777 Rick Paton |

Re: Locking Trans Dip Stick
If you just need the stick....all GM dipsticks look exactly like that.
I used to work at a chevy parts dept. Just ask the parts guy to take you the parts bins under section 4.020. They are under $10. There are a couple size ODs, so measure what you need and stop in to the Chevy dealer. If they only have long ones, you can drill out the rivets and whoala. Clark |
Re: Locking Trans Dip Stick
The chevy one cad is talking about is the way to go . Just compare them side by side and cut to length or trim then etch or scribe the full/add line on it ! Hope this helps.
