"Live" from Belle Rose
Well, actually we are still in the driveway, but I got a new laptop, so I thought I would try it out and make sure everything is working. We are still a few hours from leaving yet. It is amazing how much stuff you have to do to get everything ready to race for the first time each spring. I just know I am ready to get out of Kentucky. We have had the coldest winter in lots of years here, so I am ready for some warm weather. In checking out the weather, it looks like it is going to be great. A little cold on Sunday, but 60 & 70's otherwise. If anyone is already there, feel free to jump on here and give us updates.
More later. Patsy |

Re: "Live" from Belle Rose
I heard from some of the guys at the track this morning. They say the grounds are in good shape with just a few damp spots. The air this morning was -100 feet with a barometer better than anything ever witnessed at Atco. Wow! Testing tomorrow.

Re: "Live" from Belle Rose
Good luck to all at the Belle Rose race. Hope to see a lot of you at the 4 Wides at Zmax at the end of the month.

Re: "Live" from Belle Rose
Final stages of Drag Pak # 16. Hope to load and go park tonight. Media day tomorrow with sheriffs, da's, and other local politicians and media people racing charger hemi powered police cars. Then test the new car. Gotta find a class first. First Magnum powered Challenger, one of 3 to be made, one of one now. This is the nicest car I have ever had in my too-many-years-to-talk-about racing life. That can't be correct english.

Re: "Live" from Belle Rose
First off, I am a MoPar kind of guy...
Second off, my bracket car is a 1972 A Body with a transplanted 360 Magnum, sporting ten pounds of boost from a Vortech centrifugal supercharger. I said all that to say this: I support MoPars every way I can, and cheer when they win. But a Stock Eliminator car that is "ONE OF ONE" bothers me on several different levels. Guess I was a tech guy for too many years, back when NHRA was run as a racing organization, not a business. Maybe if NHRA would let me put a 340 in my '72 Valiant 4-door (they actually could be ordered that way in 1972, only) I might have a different opinion... being on the advantageous side of things like that has a way of skewing your perspective... and as much a fan as I am, and as admiring of a 360 Magnum "Stocker" in 2010, I still can't get comfortable with ANY Stock Eliminator car that is "one of one." I'll get over it... someday. Good luck to the Teutons and kudos to them for having the cajones to run a 360 wedge, when everybody else is playing it safe and building a Hemi! Way to go, guys!!! Schizoid??? Guess I am.... :( |
Re: "Live" from Belle Rose
Hope it flys, Jeff. What engine management system are you using? FAST?

The nice thing about 1 of 3 is that they won't have to worry about the odds of any of the dozens of other guys who might blow the index away with the more popular 6.1 Hemi's. But that's just my view of the situation. While occasional heads-up runs are fun, I doubt I'd be a front runner in any heads-up confrontations in a well populated class. (But that's for a different thread/debate.) |
Re: "Live" from Belle Rose

Re: "Live" from Belle Rose
Well after a very long day of getting ready, we finally got on the road at 9 last night. We drove til 1:30 and spent the night in a nice Walmart parking lot in Grenada, MS. It was bad on the trailer, though. Drug getting in and out. And then we were back on the road at 6:45 this morning. It was 45 degrees this morning, so we were sleeping close last night! We should be at the racetrack by test n tune time, so we will let you know more when we get there.

BTW- the weather this morning at 7:30 CST --55 degrees - a whopping 70.1 % humidity - barometer at 30.08 - vapor pressure at .28 and a final DA of plus 441 . |
Re: "Live" from Belle Rose
We pulled in yesterday to Belle Rose. Dave Crouchet is our guest Crew advisor and tells everyone we are ok even if we are Yankees.
Pat pulled is to a very nice pit spot near Tom Moock, Jim Marshall, Bill Feist, Jim Roberts, Dean Oliver and Dennis Oliver. We are expecting Wade Owens; Bill and Tim Dyer are bringing their Stickshift Moostangs also. More coming in. Track had a side wind going, but the air will be good for sure. If you are on the fence on whether you should go, I would suggest loading up and coming on down! Dave took us into town for Seafood last night. There was a guy shucking oysters so fast down there, we were afraid to get to close! I am pretty sure if I tried it, I would lose a couple fingers straight away! We were able to service the car yesterday and hopefully see if it runs today. As usual, we changed everything and drove here to test. the test and tune should be great! Will try to post on what we see. |
Re: "Live" from Belle Rose
Can you enter the race at the gate.
Just checked entry list: super stock-35 stock-43 comp-12 |
Re: "Live" from Belle Rose
Yes you can. Most racers wait and pay at the gate so if the weather looks bad, they will not show up. I am guessing that half racers don't pre-enter. I know a lot of locals don't. Come on down, plenty of crawfish for ya.
|
Re: "Live" from Belle Rose
We're here!! It is a beautiful day here at No Problem! Getting ready to go up for test n tune. Lots of people here. Yes, you can enter at the gate. Have already seen a lot here that were not entered earlier. We are down in Mopar corner. The Buckners, Jerry Davis and more. If you come down, come by to see us. We are on the next to last road on the right, I think.
More later! Patsy |
Re: "Live" from Belle Rose
have fun to all at the track from all of us in Sunny Arizona where it almost never rains unless there is a race or My Son In Law Brian Van Poppel shows up to race <lol ;):D:)

Re: "Live" from Belle Rose
Do any of you Drag Pack owners or builders know if someone is building a SS/GT out of one of these cars? We did a FWD conversion but never really liked it that much. Just doing some mind racing.
Thanks Jay |
Re: "Live" from Belle Rose
Well, I had made another post about how we had gone 10.21 in A/SA, but didn't leave very good. Teuton was having shifting problems. Well I don't know what happened to that post, but I now have good news and I have bad news. Teuton went 10.50 at 127 for the good news. The bad news is we blew an engine. So now I guess we get to party all weekend!! And withdraw from Charlotte before Monday. Oh well, that's racing. He doesn't know yet what happened. He decided to have an Absolut on the rocks before he looks at it!
More later. Patsy |
Re: "Live" from Belle Rose
Oh that sucks!! Sorry to hear that. Look forward to your reports! Thank you.
|
Re: "Live" from Belle Rose
Jack,
Yesterday morning, Jimmy Marshall said the barometer was better than anything he had ever seen at Atco with an altitude of -100 feet. As you know, he's been to Atco a few times. |
Re: "Live" from Belle Rose
Dang,,, Larry V. and Patsy, sorry to hear about the carnage.
|
Re: "Live" from Belle Rose
Larry, sorry to hear about your motor, although ther is an upside. Since you no longer have to worry about racing you can spend more hours drinking. Was Jeff in his new challenger or his super bee? If it was his challenger that has to be the fastest H/SA run of all time.

Re: "Live" from Belle Rose
Jack,
Jimmy said it was better than anything he had ever seen at Atco. Not the best that Jack Matyas had ever seen. We are both reporting what we have been told by two different people who were using different gauges and possibly at different times of the day. I just received another call from a racer at the track who says Jeff's car is supposedly in H but there is no class designation on it yet. |
Re: "Live" from Belle Rose
In SS/AH Jim Daniels went 8.30 & 8.33........:-)

Re: "Live" from Belle Rose
any other hemi cars run? thanks, Dyno

Re: "Live" from Belle Rose
Well, we just got back from a great seafood dinner at Landry's. At least we can still eat and drink a bunch.
Jeff is in his beautiful new blue Challenger. The prettiest one I have seen yet. I think it is still up in the air what class he is running. Larry says our block has 2 holes in it and so does the pan. He just pulled it into the trailer and will look at further when we get home. I guess we can watch college hoops this weekend. Murray State which is 40 miles from home beat Vandy this afternoon and Kentucky just beat East Tenn. GO WILDCATS! I will get some pics tomorrow. Thanks for the condolences. Patsy |
Re: "Live" from Belle Rose
Teuton goes 10.50 @127 in H/SA?
Holy Sheep Poop, Batman, that's 1.65 under out of a new car that hasn't even been sorted out yet! Me thinks there might be some 350 Camaro guys/gals rolling their eyes right about now..... |

Re: "Live" from Belle Rose
We made 3 runs. Good thing. We needed them. Ran ok in J stick, but we made some real changes for tomorrow. This is a great race! I wished I would have had more time to watch.
Too busy adjusting the clutch and getting tires mounted and some other adjustments. I am not sure what to do with this air. I have some drill bits in the trailer for the jets I guess. LOL. |
