Is this the fastest MPH for a stocker, how long before these cars make the Hemi SS/A cars look like go karts, Paul.

I saw the SSBA Mustang go in the 8's at 152 at Belle Rose.

I agree about Don, I think the guys that have the other CJ cars love him too.

I say "Put yer foot down Don! Go get it! :)" and welcome to SuperStock....

Until God forbid he runs over a FWD or a V or W car in the traps. As they said on Rawhide "head em up move em out" They belong in SS. Yes I have driven a Ford lately.

I remember all the people with slow stockers that complained about adding AA/S and AA/SA because of the closing rates with cars running 135 +..................well we've eclipsed that by 10 thanks to ford. Where are all the slow cars complaining now?

Was this run made when the AHFS was in effect?

Chad,as one of the slow guys (94-95 mph) being passed at 40-50 mph is a big concern.
I don't have a roll bar and 5 point harness.Maybe I'll have to go for the +- $1.000 to do so.

Well Chad,I don`t know who was complaining, but I love running against the really fast cars. I like racing against 170 mph dragsters too,so 145 is nothing! I`m only running around 80 to 85 mph too.

Gee Ed -- I've seen you in many combo eliminators at E-Town with cars faster than this and you didn't seem to mind -- why now ?

BTW - Tommy will put your bar in for much less ..............unless you're putting in the 12 point Pro Stock Booth & Arrons deal ...............

Jack, roll bar, tilt out side bar, jacket, pants, belts.Add it all up,over $1,000 probably.I've run only about 3 S/SS races. The difference in times and speeds is not something I feel is in my favor. As one who likes to throw down money at the tables I'm sure you could see my point.
I've seen a few of these fast cars in action and it's kind of uncomfortable in my mind.
Seems like the older you get the more you're aware of your mortality.
Jared, some people have called my car a funny car.

Ed:

When have you ever been passed by a stocker doing a buck forty five?
Maybe a Super Stocker or two...
Those speeds might put out your stogie...LOL.

Ed -- So let me get this right -- its OK if a 69 Camaro AA/SA passes you at 136 but a Mustang AA/S at 145 is uncomfortable -- maybe its time to go back to Street Eliminator ........ if you want things in your favor .

Jack, let me make it clearer. The A cars going 136 WERE a concern to me.Now the AA
cars are almost 10 mph faster. It's tough enough making it close at 41 mph,50 is another story.Where did I say I wanted some sort of concession for the mph discrepancy?
I deal with situations as they come.Remember the red light bull$hit?I said I was OK with the way it was.Wasn't looking for any favors.
And I have no inclination to run street eliminator.
Hi Jimmie,I quit the cigars a few years ago.But these AA cars might peel the decals off my car coming by.

Ed -- Thats' fine with me as we need all the Stock/SS guys and gals we can get .A smart guy like you should have some real fun every now and again dialing soft against one of these and then dragging your front bumper thru the lights at ninty whatever MPH.............I'm just sayin' ..................well you know !

Re: Don Fezell #2 9.514 145.53 WOW

Stock Eliminator is far from the only class with big differences in mph between cars. Every racer knows the risk of being on track and if you don't feel safe then improve your own situation.

Ed, you say you don't feel comfortable out there, but your car has no bar or harness? If it was such a big deal, then why not put that in there and feel safe? I've raced plenty of S/SS combo races and have had to run SS/AH cars and modified cars running well over 150. I'm sure you have as well so why complain about a car going 140?

There is no rule that says you can't add a roll bar or cage, proper harness, firesuit, fire gloves, full-face helmet, HANS, etc. I'm not making a joke either. Until you've exhausted all the options, don't complain about safety. Yes, it can get expensive to have said equipment, but you are the one on track and if you don't feel safe then it's money well spent.

Evan

When I had my Z/S at 80.00 mph I ran against alot faster cars like every Sunday at Cecil. Some back then ran 130.00 + . Come on ED it will be "OK".

But the BIG deal is 145 MPH equates to an 8 second run at best, OK, I'll even give the guy a break and it should be a 9.10 at worst.
So either the car is terribly inefficient or he's got the throttle stop set for AHFS avoidance.

Re: Don Fezell #2 9.514 145.53 WOW

I woud think the 145 mph would figure around a 9.30. The dragster I used to drive would run around 9.20`s at 145,and the Mustang has the supercharger giving it the bigger speeds.

For what it's worth, when I went 8.9's in the Belvedere, it went 144-146 mph. The Mustang won't go a 1.18 60', but it should still be an easy 9.1-9.2 car.

Re: Don Fezell #2 9.514 145.53 WOW

Imagine a Mustang hitting a great Big Impala Estate Wagon at over 140mph the Mustang would be history and the Impala would be ready for second round with just a little bit of duck tape. I love fast cars but I enjoy the slower class even more. The Mustangs and Challengers are just catching up and passing all the Camaros and Firebirds with LT1 And LS1 motored cars that have been dominating the class in the past. Remember this is Stock Eliminator where men are men and aren't afraid of something new, it's just going to make you work harder. Look at Al Corda, Woodro Josey, these guy's aren't afraid to change brand, type or technologies, Billy Nee's can make most tuna can competitive. Bring on the new Camaro v6 and v8 now I'm really looking forward to the future. I wouldn't want to see the Mustang leave for Super Stock, we need the new blood. Just my opinion and I know what people say about opinion. Claude Ruel

Yeah we'll see how that plays out.
I think in the next year or so that some new combos in the new cars will start to dominate the middle classes.I think that you will see the older cars fade slowly away.In the long run it might be what actually saves S/SS for the future.

Evan,I think you missed my point.I wasn't complaining about the speed I said I had a concern.Big difference.Someone in a J car ,for example,can whack me,not as hard as a
AA car can though.I've been concerned about that since day one. When I bracket raced in the dark ages I ran street elim. then pro et.Back then Pro ET was 11.00 to 11.99 not the bull$**** they run today. And no electronics then. That was fun.Today racing has degenerated into a cut throat high dollar pi$$ing contest.I do it only because of the friendship and acquaintenses I've made in the last 11 years.
Mark my above sentence about the state of racing now says it all.
