The car is still the same as when we raced it. Minus motor. I'm going to do a motor for it. And get some replacement front parts. Maybe go with the Caltracs. And bars.
The car will only be 45 pounds heavier than when we ran it years ago.

Tex drove it I built and tuned it. It worked out great.
We finished number 2 in Div 1 in 1979 but won the world finals at Ontario, CA.
Then we won the W.R. Grace Cup in 1980

Save a few dollars for a pair of binoculars.....then you will be able to see the Mustangs tailights as he/she drives away from you........You might be able to see the DP with just regular glasses....

A lot of smart people told me similar things in 1974. Guess wo was right?
I believe it was someone on here that once said I couldn't make a car run with out Turbo. Well my only turbo is attached to my tow vehicle.
Well Right now I'd be willing to run any DP or Cobra Jet index to index for a large sum of money.

Right on! Yes, a '70's term but I'm old enough to still use it...:)

What are the details on how you found the car? Or did it find you? An interesting story perhaps?

The owner came down to talk with me at Concord. When I ran 6 tenths under at 46 mph he was convinced. But It took me till today, after reading all the whining and crying.

In 74 my dad ran one of those in SS/E with a Hemi 4 Speed. That year at Gainesville they won class and there was like 18 cars in the class back then. It also paid good money back then to win class as I guess you guys know.

Louie Lafreda had a lime green hemi superbird. That was our major competition back when we started.

Too bad it's only an April Fool's Day joke. :( However, if I were a man of great means, I'd I pay YOU to recreate the car then suprise you by giving you the keys and title as a present.

Art and or M68,
What was the big complaint back then..
Guys putting the T/A fiberglass hoods on the 70' Hemi
Challengers.

Oops, just found out that in late 70', T/A fiberglass hoods were available on 70' Challengers, when the factory ran out of 'shaker' hoods.
And in 71', the T/A fiberglass hood was an option for the
Challenger.

There weren't near as many whining crybabies back then. A lot of people thought we were a full factory backed car. And that we could run much faster than what we did.
And that little bit of misinformation won us some races. The most memorable was Indy 1980.
Not in the final. That was against Al Provost and there was no fooling him.

ART,
We called them the 'PICAYUNES".
Now I remember, the big complaint, the guys with the 'shaker' hoods on the 70' Challenger's and Cuda's were molding the scoop to the hood with 'bondo'. To ensure a better seal, and gain a little more height on the scoop. When the SS/D and SS/DA cars started cleaning up, them
'PICAYUNES' protested..

There was some hanky panky going on with hoods back then. At Indy one year we pulled up next to a certain Challenger superstocker in the inside oval pits. The man just grumbled never said a word, threw all his stuff in or on the truck (the key word here is THREW). And took off. For another pit spot. You would have thought we had the bubonic plague or something. He left us so fast we wound up with a complex. LOL We showered the day before honest. And there were no Axe murderers in our crew. Maybe an old hitman but no Axe murderers.
