Nice work Tim. Did you build Mike Ruff's car?

Re: Latest Pictures of Mac Reeves Drag-Pak Challenger
Yes, I am proud to be the race car builder for someone like Mike Ruff.
I Love you Mike and Shari :) |
Re: Latest Pictures of Mac Reeves Drag-Pak Challenger
You might want to bring it back from the body shop before they paint it and weld up all those EXTRA holes in the suspension brackets... You are only allowed one hole in each bracket. Just thought you would like to know before all that beautiful paint gets done and you have to ruin it welding..

Re: Latest Pictures of Mac Reeves Drag-Pak Challenger
Wow...that is a very liberal interpetation of the rules. That is not what I am reading in my 2009 rulebook as far as acceptable modifications...... I would have to see what a Stock Challenger looked like but it sure looks like a lot of suspension mounting points are completely fabricated. Looks more like a SS'er or small tire bracket car.....
Who approves this stuff? |
Re: Latest Pictures of Mac Reeves Drag-Pak Challenger
Nice piece! But........................ let's count the number of "attachment points" on cage/bar............. hmmmmmmmmmm More than 6???
|
Re: Latest Pictures of Mac Reeves Drag-Pak Challenger
Car will look just great,, and I expect it will run as good as it looks...
Yes, the 4 link is legal for Dodge challenger Drag Pak cars. Looks good Mac, keep the reports coming.. David The New Hemi Guy |

The Challenger has an independent rear suspension from the factory and just like all the previous independent rear suspension NHRA has allowed an approved design so that a solid rear axle can be used. Here are several pics of the factory stuff(hope these loaded correctly.

Re: Latest Pictures of Mac Reeves Drag-Pak Challenger
Hey guys dont get to excited.
The extra attachment points are for testing purposes only just like race pak data loggers in stock and super stock . The attachment points are straight from the Drag Pak Manual. Most of the Drag Pak cars look very similar under the rear. The new Camaros also have independent rear suspension and will have to be fabricated as well. |
Re: Latest Pictures of Mac Reeves Drag-Pak Challenger
I guess I didn't clarify the "attachment points" I was looking at. But, from what info I info I ever got regarding ROLL BAR/CAGE installations, for stock eliminator it was "limited" to SIX attachment to chassis, REGARDLESS of whether car has frame or uni-body. I was not referring to the multiple four bar locations; that's another story.
My apologies for the confusion. I still like these cars cuz ya don't hafta deal w/old, rusty stuff!!!! |

Re: Latest Pictures of Mac Reeves Drag-Pak Challenger
After seeing what was stock I see why this was allowed. I did not know what was OEM........Makes more sense than trying to make the stock stuff survive and is way safer. I was parked next to a well known Corvette SS'er during a race when it crashed. It had the IRS rear.........something broke and it went over the guardrail....

Re: Latest Pictures of Mac Reeves Drag-Pak Challenger
Looks awesome. You can't find a nicer car than a Takash car.
And for everyone thats crying about the car. Im pretty sure you can still go buy one and build it. Also I dont think he is trying to hide anything, since he posted pictures for all to see. |
Re: Latest Pictures of Mac Reeves Drag-Pak Challenger
It still has STOCK spring and shock locations as per the Book!

Sweet Mack....very sweet.... Sorry weve been busy trying to put Ole Blue back on the road with a very interesting engine combo, hell may even run it in GT :) Looking good..... |
Re: Latest Pictures of Mac Reeves Drag-Pak Challenger
I love it. hats off to the chassis guy......this is what class racing is all about.
not everyone wants to build just a stock bracket car. pushing the limits of the class are what the advantage is all about ,period end of story. With custom fabrication, the time, work and the thought that goes into your work always is going to threaten others and be open for challange. Davey Summa Summa Performance |

Re: Latest Pictures of Mac Reeves Drag-Pak Challenger
If I were you, I would ask about the adjustable attatching points for the rear suspension. I did and if I were you, I would also. Mine has one hole per point and is not adjustable. Other than that, they are the virtually the same. I know mine passes, and yours might be ok also.

Re: Latest Pictures of Mac Reeves Drag-Pak Challenger
From the Dragzine..com site "The 2010 Drag Pak Challenger, much like the 2009 version, will be a factory-developed body-in-white vehicle kit based on the 2010 Dodge Challenger SRT8. The car will feature a 1,000 pound weight reduction with the removal of major components and systems, a lift off hood with a functional scoop, Dodge Viper-style front seats that accommodate 6-point harnesses, and polycarbonate door windows.
Other features include a modified transmission tunnel, raised floor for solid axle conversion, solid engine mounts, shortened wheelbase, special modified K-member, lightweight drag race only front brake assembly, and manual rack and pinion steering. Engine packages include the 5.7-liter, 6.1-liter Hemi and 5.9L Magnum. The standard 6.1 Hemi features a forged steel crankshaft, forged 12:1 pistons, a hydraulic roller cam, .584” valve lift with 1.6 ratio rocker arms, and a special high ram EFI intake manifold with a 4-barrel throttle body. Both a four-speed automatic and 6-speed manual transmission setup are part of the package, although the transmission itself is not. As stated on the order form, the car requires extensive work following delivery, as it lacks a roll cage, safety equipment, wheels and tires, transmission, and many other components that make it race-ready." I did not realize these didn't come as an assembled car, but rather what would be called a craftsman kit of some sort. It mentions "raised floor for solid axle conversion" in the text. When Corvettes change do they modify the body also? Is it still illegal to modify the wheel well to fit a 9" tire in a car then? Is the Mustang actually a running car when delivered? |

shortened wheelbase, raised floor SOUNDS LIKE A REAL FX CAR FOR SURE!!!!! 2010 DP Challengers have only the 6.1l engine package.

Tim
beautiful job as always!!! Scott fifield |
Re: Latest Pictures of Mac Reeves Drag-Pak Challenger
Correct Peter, the 2010 comes only with a 6.1 and either stick or auto. Do you hear that sigh of releif?? That probably came from Gary Stanton, as building all three engines was a real pain...Even though there werent that many 5.7 and 5.9 ordered, they still had to built somewhat differently, parts tracked searately, etc.
Also to answer the question asked about wheels, 9 inch tires fit without modification if you have the right rear end setup. David The New Hemi Guy |
