It isn't that cool if you have a D car in the same division.:>(
Looks like they're slowly working their way down the classes.Like the old movie The Blob.

It's a mis-print. He's actually driving their '67 Firebird in D/SA. Talked to him about some metering rods for it. Danny

What section in the NHRA rule book covers "crate motors"?

Or are we talking IHRA here.

Hope I didn't jump the gun. I didn't see all the cars go down the track this morning. Maybe he had a Mustang today but during the test and tune yesterday he was in the Firebird.

Time for GM to get the LS7 Zo6 motors legal for stock in the '98-'02 Camaros and Firebirds and also the late model GTO's....Hell, why not?? Just might even things up a bit if it were to happen..... WJ

Nope. I want a 2011 Z-28 with the LS9 Supercharged combo and I want it rated at 315hp. Now that would make things even.:D

It is the nickname those upset with the 2010 Mustang motors are calling them. I inquired about buying one of the motors and was told the one I want is available as components only, no crate motor.

So now let me get this straight. The 2010 Mustang isn't a "crate" motor car because you can only buy "components" and not a motor BUT the same 2010 Mustang that can't be tagged and titled OR bought off of a dealers showroom OR bought with said "crate" motor in any way, shape or form BUT can be bought with a Reid Powerglide to go behind the "crate" motor that can only be bought as "components" is legal in Stock?
No sane person could possibly defend this!

You can only buy the motor only as components. You can buy the car with motor in.

I could tag the car in colorado as a home built and get plates but I would probably have to put mufflers on it.

Who ever said I was sane.

My understanding was that the car could never be titled as a condition of buying it. If that is true how does it ever get classified as a stocker?

That is EXACTLY one reason why these limited production and incomplete cars should be classified as SUPER STOCK ONLY and not stockers. No one said they should never be allowed to race in a class legal catagory....just not as a stocker like the limited production, non emission and safety tested and incomplete '68 HEMI 'Cudas and Darts were and are classified to this day.

I can't wait till some "stupid rich kid" buys one, brings it home and tries to tag it. That should be a good lawsuit.

You could register it in OK, they dont have titles like other states do.

The new Mustangs have no VIN's.

Neither do the DP's but it would be easy to go to a junk yard, find a total, Get the VIN plate and title it as reconstructed. However the problem comes in if you wreck it. The car was never tested for safety or EPA standards. If someone finds out you could end up paying for the rest of your life.

Re: Bo Butner New Ride 2010 Mustang D/SA

It could be done....look at all of the "Kit CARs" and glass bodied (home built) street rods running around with assigned vins from the DMV. They are not emmisions tested or have air bags much less 5 MPH bumpers, etc. It could be the same type of registration and street rod tags assigned to them.

One reason for the F/X classes was because either the cars were not built to current at that time federal standards (or not enough of them had been built yet or ever built) plus some could not qualify for any stock or S/S class (2% altered wheel base MoPars, OHC Cammer Mustangs (rear wheels were moved up 3 inches), etc.) no mater how many were built. Thank you Farmer where ever you are.

I am a "Stupid kid" but alas not rich so this is just a mental exercise for me.

As X-Tech pointed out, home built and kit cars have their VIN assigned by the state. It couldn't be titled as a Ford product because they did not assign a VIN.

In Colorado you need receipts for the parts and have to pass a visual inspection they then assign a VIN and attach it to the vehicle.

Floyd, there a stiff penalty for transfering a VIN plate it would not be worth prison time.

If you have to sign an agreement not to title it when you purchase from Ford then the original purchaser could not do this.

I do not know if all states are the same, but the 2010 CJ Mustangs do have a serial number and do get titled here in South Carolina.

Bingo !

There's the new class designation for all of these so called "50-build" cars without vins and with "crate " engines that no-one can buy on Monday and register to drive on highways on Sundays. :D

....oops...or is that win on Sunday-buy on Monday. ?

"Factory Experimental" could not fit these new machines any better in definition.
