Roy Hill Entry
How did Roy Hill's entry for Atlanta get approved?
|
Re: Roy Hill Entry
Easy, they only got 62% of the entries that were allowed for the race. Got a car, got a license, got $270, then come race.
|
Re: Roy Hill Entry
The rule is you have to have at least 1 grade point
|
Re: Roy Hill Entry
What does it hurt if he is not keeping anybody out? I think we may see the grade point deal change or go away. Very few fill up anymore, right?

I agree with Ed.... Plus its NHRA's race and they make the rules and make exception to the rules and that is all I have to say on that...... |
Re: Roy Hill Entry
Its all in who the hell you know !!!!
|
Re: Roy Hill Entry
May I ask where it isn't true, "it all depends on who you know"?
|
Re: Roy Hill Entry
doesn't being a past event champ get ya a free pass on entry ?
|
Re: Roy Hill Entry
Who could possibly have enough free time to worry about such crap. Did anyone try to enter and not get in? Move on with your life.

Re: Roy Hill Entry
I dont really care if he gets in that is just the way things work. But when I went from S/S to Super Comp none of my grade point counted so I had to go to Div before I could get in any Nationals this year, They can do what they want it is their ball game

Re: Roy Hill Entry
Jeg is a former World Champ, and can enter any event he chooses.

Re: Roy Hill Entry
PROVISIONAL ENTRIES
1. A driver with a valid NHRA Gold or Silver, card will be guaranteed entry to any National Event (card must have been earned in either Full Throttle series or Lucas Oil series – cards earned in ET or Jrare not entitled to a provisional entry). 2. The defending event champion will be guaranteed entry to the event he/she won. For example, last years Super Gas winner at the Finals would be guaranteed entry into this year's Finals. Entry is not guaranteed to any other event or category. 3. A former national champion (Pro or Sportsman) will be guaranteed entry to any National Event. 4. A Professional driver earning Top 20 status in the current or previous season will be guaranteed a Sportsman entry to any National Event. 5. Owner credits may be awarded in cases involving a driver change. The owner must have grade points from the previous year for the category entering. Owner grade points cannot be a combination of multiple vehicles, or combined with driver grade points. Division Director approval required. 6. A Sportsman driver within the Top 20 in National points, and still in contention for a possible Top 10 year end position, will be guaranteed entry to any of the final four National Events of the racing season (Dallas, Reading, Las Vegas 2, and Pomona). Driver must be in contention at the start of the event entering. 7. A Sportsman driver within the Top 10 in National points will be guaranteed entry to any of the final four National Events of the racing season. Driver must be in contention at the start of the event entering. |

Re: Roy Hill Entry
The quota for Atlanta was 100 cars. They have 65 entries for Super Stock. Who really cares if Roy Hill got in without a grade point? At least it's another car at the event!
|
Re: Roy Hill Entry
This is the first year that they are enforcing the gold card rule.... A driver that wins a gold card at the end of the year summit series ET finals can’t use that gold card in the Lucas Oil series or any national events for the following year anymore.

Sounds like a bad decision ,NHRA should encourage a Bracket car to upgrade to Stock or Super Stock and besides There are not that many Gold cards to make any difference ,if they don't go but if they do more money for the track |
Re: Roy Hill Entry
Mybe Kurt got him in.LOL
Seriously Who cares if the field is'nt full. One more thing. Roy did his time and it was'nt at no country club either. It happened nearly 30 years ago. Leave him alone and let him race. Besides as fast as that Ford is ya'll will have something else to b!tch about Friday. Chip Johnson Former Roy Hill employee & still his friend |
Re: Roy Hill Entry
Did anybody here Roy on Johnboy & Billy earlier this week? He was talking about the Mustang and the ROCK. Then the story on Competition Plus. He's good for a little publicity too...........

Re: Roy Hill Entry
Let me tell you a little Roy Hill Story. I'd have to look through my pictures to find the date, but, some time in the mid 1990's, Roy, myself and a couple other IHRA "PROS" were ask to do some PR for IHRA in Neb., before the Nats in Scribner. We got to meet the Governor, do some radio talk shows,TV, yada, yada, yada. The highlite of the deal was going to the Childrens Hospital. After the tour, which included a burn unit, Roy said, " We should buy these kids some gifts." I said, cool ...count me in. We went to the hospital gift shop. Roy, told the lady we needed some gifts for the kids. She said, which ones? Roy said ....EVERY KID IN THE HOSPITAL !!!!. ( after a quick check of my credit card limit .) I said OK let's do it. Roy made it happen ...we bought every kid in the hospital a gift of some kind. And, we took them to every room. Not one child was left out...Say what you want...Roy's OK in my book. It was one of the best memories of my racing career...Roy should get free entry to any event he wants. Jim Bailey

Re: Roy Hill Entry
As far as the car that Roy is driving, it is owned by one of our sports great supporters; James Finch. He has been involved in racing for many years starting in drag racing as a fan and the all the way to winning NASCAR events. James has pushed for keeping the history of drag racing by making sure that future generations have this information. Many of our great Stock/ Super stock drivers have been fogotten and James has worked to bring their stories out for all to hear. As for Roy Hill running this weekend who cares. That man has forgoten more of his passes down the track than most of us will ever even make. He did not take someones entry the feild... is not even close to being full. So let him race without yelling and screaming "not fair".
You have to look at what will it take to put fans in the stands for sportsman. This is what we all want and if that means NHRA allows a few "super stars" to run in sportsman then so be it. If a team has to do a drivers change for a national event, no one gets mad about that and alot of these drivers have no grading points. Lets stop worring about a grading point that actually means nothing anymore. LETS JUST RACE. Jeremy Waibel Triple J Motorsports & Machine NHRA STK 2231 NHRA SSTK 2232 NHRA E.T. 2230 |
Re: Roy Hill Entry
THAT is one reason the need of grading points to run a National event just SUCKS. As bad as the economy is the NHRA should be accepting all who wish to enter these days. Grading points are to insure racers will support the opens and points races so they can enter the larger events. The volume of racers in class legal cars is just not there anymore except for the INDY Nats.

He who has no skeletons in their closet has not lived a very interesting life. The problems start when you can't get the damned door closed on the closet.
