History on Dodge Material

I finally met Bob Marshall a couple of weeks ago at the Indy divisional, which he did very well at, and was wondering if anyone could let me know more about the history there.

The Family, the car, cars, etc. I have a pic from Bowling Green in the 1980s and there were 2 big Mopars, Team cars?

I was just wondering. Their whole family and crew seemed great.

Re: History on Dodge Material

I remember seeing Bob Marshall and Bill Weekly with Dodge Material cars in the mid 70"s. This was at a 1/8th mile track in Proctorville, Oh. by the Name of Riverside Dragstrip. Usually Ray Christian was there also. I always loved seeing that big Hemi beat up on those Chevys! I still see him at some Chrysler Classic races and that car still hauls the mail. If youhappen to be at National Trails you stand a good chance of seeing it.

Didn't some of the older Dodge commercials ask viewers "Are you Dodge Material"?

Chris,
I believe you are right. Dodge also had an ad campaign in the mid 60's touting the Dodge Rebellion. I wanted to call our old wagon "Dodge Rebellion" because I always thought Bob's cars were cool, but Zac,being a youngster, didn't think it was as cool and he drove the wagon.
Bob Marshall has been around forever. He would run almost anywhere there was money to be had.I remember watching him in a final round bracket race at Columbus back in the late 70's against a 16 second Comet for $1000 with his big Hemi. Big money back then.
Craig is a chip off the old block too. They love to play mind games with the competition and that makes them that much more enjoyable to watch and compete against. Just ask Beard.
Also to note is the paint scemes on the Dodge Material cars are timeless. They have not changed since I can remember, but never look outdated. That in itself is quite rare.

Bob Owned (still owns?) a Shell station right off the 70 interstate freeway on the east side of Columbus when I went to High school there. I drove past that station every morning and afternoon going to and from school. I watched him race at National Trails from 1971-up. When I had my Stocker he was always at whatever track we went to for divisionals. That was/is a really nice car and it makes me glad to see him still campaigning it.

Duster 408,
I also spent many weekends watching Bob Clean up at Riverside. A lot of regular attending Hemis. Bob Marshall, Bill Weakley, Dave Mosley, Gene Boitnott, Gale Fink, Larry Hice, Frank Madden, Bob Porter, Slim Howard, Phil Roar, Hagen Endicot, Bud & Dewey Cook and many more.

At the present time Bob and his son Craig are racing 4 cars. Two 65 Dodges, one of which is a real A990 car, the other a clone. They usually run SS/BA and SS/BM. They also have a Duster which is doing very well in stock as well as the SS/CM Pontiac.

The Bill Weakly's stuff was mostly used Marshall parts. The first Dodge Material was painted white with red & blue trim.

This is neat....I basically was going to go up like a rube newb and ask....

It was obvious they had a serious program and history and I vaugley remeber seeing some of the cars around Ohio as a kid, but I couldnt be sure, now I am. Cool....

Are these the cars you're talking about? I haven't found a picture of the Pontiac yet.

Yep, Sorry I can't seem to get this pic any larger. In the background is Bob standing in front of his car when it was still white.

Frito.
I remember Hice's Dart, loved the stripes on that deck lid. I was at Trails for the anniversity race and thought I saw two different Dart Sports. Of course Bob's was the quickest. I spent every Saturday night at Riverside, those were the days.
