IHRA and the DP

Ok, any IHRA Gurus here wanna chime in on this it would be appreiated.

On of my favorite local tracks is an IHRA track....

I have heard the CJ's and DP's have their own class in the IHRA ?

What is it ?

Will / Can an NHRA Comp Liscence cross over to the IHRA or do I need to "recert" as in passes etc ?

Im not looking at making a move away from the NHRA but for some of the events in our area it would be nice to race with my friends who almost exclusivley run there and under the IHRA banner (if any)

Any tips / hints would be great for getting all the "ducks" in a row paperwork wise.

Cheers

Chris

Re: IHRA and the DP

IHRA still has seperate classes for EFI / Carb cars. The CJ's which fit only in AA are alone in AA/FI and AA/FIA. The DP will share classes with the LT1 & LS1 cars as they do now but within the FI class structure, just no carb cars.

So right now the DP cannot compete ?

Cheers

Re: IHRA and the DP

DP should be able to run at the same weight break it runs NHRA, just the class letters are different.

See you in Chicago next weekend.

Cool....yeah we hope to make Chicago....I think it will be sans Mandie :( She has a Gig, shes trying to reschedule, but it was my screw up on dates and times of events, actually it wasnt a screw up it was a change from our plans.....It was an added event, we had originally just planned on Bristol and Norwalk....but....well see....

And if we miss it , it will probably be the first time its NOT because of the DP .... lol ...

It will be because of things more important that Racing....the kids and that Im 100% fine with....So is the old man....

But were shooting for it.....

I don't see why not. With the 5.7 you should be able to run the following. Note that the fuel injected classes have one pound weight breaks.

B/FIA @ 2915

C/FIA @ 3220

D/FIA @ 3525

Cool, 3220 would be the lightest I can go, does the IHRA have a Problem being Overweight ?

No. I am always a good bit heavy for class. As long as you don't break the rules in regards to ballast I don't think they will say anything.

I don't know that you need it unless you can make a sub ten second run.

No chassis cert required in stock. Pay for a membership, car number/license and your entry fee for the race at the gate (not in advance) and have at it. You will find the IHRA people VERY helpful. Just ask them if you have any questions.

to the darkside??? Just kidding.

I have been around longer than the IHRA and have no problems running there.

Thanks to all for the good information.

It is nice to get welcomed somewhere, instead of attacked.

Ask for Danny Waters or Hank Blankenship if they are working the race you happen to enter. . They will help you with what ever questions you might have and they both love stock and super stockers. .

From IHRA.com

7/29/09

Addition to Fuel Injection Classes: AA/FI and AA/FIA are added to the class structure for Stock Eliminator. The 2 classes are reserved for 2008 and later accepted factory muscle cars. No existing FI cars may remove weight and enter this class.

Class Break is 7.50 to 7.99. Class Index is 10.85 1/4 mile and 7.00 1/8 mile.
