We are in line, and there are about 100 rigs in front of us. They started pulling rigs in about 9:30. No rain yet, but they say it is coming. The forecast is not good for today, but the rest of the week and weekend look okay.

The schedule for the sportsman is a little unusual. There will be no eliminations until Saturday, expect for comp. For now it looks like Thursday ss will get one qualifying round and then goes to class, stk gets two qualifying rounds and they are done until Saturday. Super gas and super comp get one and another one on Friday. I could be wrong folks, but this the info I have for now. When I get teched in I will look for the schedule and confirm this.

Thanks guys, I will be here all weekend with reports. The rain has come, its a steady light rain and it should be gone by tomorrow.

Below are the schedules for Thursday and Friday. I will get the Saturday and Sunday later, but you know it will probably change like it always does. Man was I off, the schedule is nothing like I thought

Besides the pictures I take, and I know they are not great, John DiBartolomeo from Drag Racing Action Magazine http://www.dragracingaction.com/ will be sending me pictures at the end of each day. John takes great pictures, can't wait.

Wow, only 58 s/g cars at E-Town. I guess many like myself have had enough and are sitting out the Nats.

Morning everyone, as you can see by the photo's the sun has not come out yet. They have been drying the track for the last hour, and it looks to be in good shape.

I don't see any reason why we should not be able to start on time today. The local weather is calling for a sunny day with a high of 80. The weekend also looks good.

As I type this, the sun is trying to come out. After my first round of qualifying, I will be back with pictures and hopefully something more interesting then a weather report.

My pleasure Don. They called stock back to the lanes so I did not have time for pictures, but I will later. I talked to a few super class guys and they said the track is great. Its a little on the humid side, and its partly cloudy..... temp is 80.

So far the day is going smooth with no oil downs or issues..... be back later.

Super Gas is in running now. I was talking to the drivers, and there telling me the track conditions are great.

I also ran into John Asta and Mike Sawyer. They had a bet on the Flyers and the Bruins in the playoffs. Well Mike wanted to let everyone know he paid John his $100, although it was paid with nickels, now that's funny.

I tried to get some shots from the stands, but my camera is junk. Check out Scotty Albercht's Corvette. I know most have seen pictures of Scotty's car, but check out the tail light shadows that are painted in the bumper. I heard the car is for sale, man I wish I had the money, this is one bad *** car.

As I type this it started to sprinkle, I think we are going to be done for the day. Super Gas is done and Super Comp was in the lanes, about half ran before the rain.

We are getting some text messages from the track and it is not good news......

Re: "Live From" NHRA SuperNationals Englishtown, NJ

I'm also getting Text Messages from the track and they are telling me it's not good news either. It was Neal Parker from Millville, NJ and his Excavator Alky F/C that went into the sand

Re: "Live From" NHRA SuperNationals Englishtown, NJ

I did have a chance to see what the audio problem was. With all the has happen I am sure its not as important.

Unfortunately there was a fatality here, and the track has been down for some time. Racing will start at 4:00 starting with Motorcycle.

Super Gas and Comp are done for the day. Super Stock and Super Comp are schedule to run later, but that could change.

Its tough when you loose someone at the track, its very quite, somber like.

I will post more details later. I think we would all agree that the family comes first and I would not want to post rumors or speculate on such a tragedy.

As I typed this NHRA has released the name of the driver. Neal Parker age 58 died of injuries when his Alcohol Funny car did not stop and hit the retaining devices. Condolences to his family.

I think it's even worse when you know the person well. I grew up watching Neal race at Atco raceway as a little kid. He always had some of the coolest cars. Before he went TA/FC racing he used to have a 48 Blown Fiat that he used to do Exhibition runs and sometimes bracket race at Atco. When IHRA came out with Top Dragster Parker ran that and was actually the 1st Top Dragster to run in the 5 second range. He always drove on the edge with that car and actually had a few nasty accidents with it. I was actually just talking to him and the crew at Maple Grove cause Neal is from Millville and we're from the next town over Vineland. He was talking about how they just upgraded to the carbon fiber blower and were going to try to run with the big boys in TA/FC this year. One thing about Neal was he always has a stinky cigar either lit up or just in his mouth. Sucks that this had to happen and at E-Town of all places, which already has a bad reputation after Scott died and they went and improved the end with sand and catch nets to have this never happen again.

I remember them days with Neal at Atco.... I have some great memories of racing Atco with them and then heading to Cecil for the next days race... He and my dad were good friends, and I had the pleasure of getting to know him when I was up there racing... I saw him at afew IHRA races after we moved... He was a great guy and will be missed by many...

RIP... my friend...

Don,

Sorry I did not get back to you sooner, internet access today is very slow.

No sportsman ran between the pros, we are all done, except for the pro's. They are ready to run the second round pro session after pro mod, which is running now.

Good morning everyone, its mostly cloudy 6:45 in the am. Why I am up so early I do not know. But since I'm up, I might as well give a report and post some more pictures.

First out today will be Super Gas and Super Comp. All the other sportsman will not run until late in the day. When I get a detailed schedule I will post it.

Freddie,
He's doing good, turned 62 shut down the shop and is living the American Dream - Racing and watching Oprah at 4 everyday. We might be down your way in October depending on how things pan out with points. He's 9th in D-1 S/G and were skipping Leb Valley so we might drive down to Silver Dollar if he's in the top 10. His goal before he retired was to put a double digit number on the side of the car so we will see. I'll let him know you said hi.
