I just talked to two of them late this afternoon,
and they said for sure 1:00 to 6:00 Thursday.
I tried to rent the track Tuesday and they
wouldn't let me.

Forgot to post:

For the Tulsa LODRS race will be parking cars, 24 hours a day, starting at noon Tuesday. No lines, no stacking. Pay at the gate and personel will be there to park you.

Kinda overkill, but they didn't ask me.

Hope this helps.

The new A/Fuel team of Fair and Smith, that I'm associated with, is going to do the test and tune and make their last license pass.
Any hotel suggestions?

Adger, there is one just north of there, same street that runs in front of the race track. I'll make a call and get you the name and phone number. I'll post it here in case someone else needs it. There are several close to the airport which is only a mile from the track.

OK, I just called. It's the Best Western Airport, ph 918-438-0780. Be sure to ask for the Racers rate, I was told it's $59.00 a night.

Adger, are you coming? If my arm and shoulders will let me get the engine back in the car I'll be there. Look me up if your there.

Adger -

We got a hotel room at America's Best Value Inn. 1 mile or so from the race track. Racers rate I believe was $45 per night. Number is 918-438-5050. Have no idea if it is nice or not.

Michael

Thanks Ed..
Yes I'm planning on it. If my health keeps improving and the round of tests on the 23 are good .I'll be there. It's been too long since I had a "FIX"
The A/fuel deal is a "Real FIX, TOO" I was able to be at Red River last weekend with the team to test.... OH Boy!!!
I'm keeping my fingers crossed and hope to be able to see some of you guys there.

Not nearly as humid as Houston, Not being used to that humidity I sweat like a pig when I go there. Don't think I could live there. Guess you get used to it.

Now the website shows gates opening Tuesday at 6:00 pm. Haven't talked to anybody in person about it since Thursday.
Seems strange, but that is what they said, and put on the TRP website.

Michael, I drove past that one on the way to the track yesterday afternoon. Looks nice, it's about 600' closer to the track than the best Western.
Mine is still not fixed. Went 10.50 yesterday, last year in 3500' air it ran high 20s to low 30s. Might not even run this one either. Very embarrassing. I've replaced everything I can think of. Out of ideas. 125 MPH, should have been 128. Real slug.

I stayed at that America's Best Value when I ran at Tulsa a few years back. Don't remember there being anything wrong with the place. Super close, cheap, and the lady was very nice as I recall. I would definitely go back.

Re: Tulsa LODRS?

We planned on being there, but the car has developed a nasty driveline vibration. Hate missing close ones. Good luck.

BTW - We were going to be there, but there's a Jahova's Witness conference there and all the hotel rooms are taken, a least that's what I was told. Everyone get rooms???

Mike, I just checked rooms for Tulsa, Comfort Inn airport, Comfort Suites airport, Econo Lodge airport, all have room. Tom

That's where I'll be too. I haven't stayed at that particular property when working an event at Tulsa, but there was one year I wish I had. I stayed at the Ramada next door, which used to be a Holiday Inn and the place was still in transition....a not-so-smooth transition.

If you are flying in to Tulsa (I know almost none of you guys do because you can't pack a stacker in your checked luggage), and you can find a room right there on Garnett, it's the only event I've ever worked where the airport, hotel and drag strip are all close enough to each other that I didn't needed to put any gas into the rental car after working a 3-day event.

I'm looking forward to seeing my division 4 friends this weekend!

Adger, if you hang out with Ed and my name comes up just remember. He's old and probably doesn't remember stories as they really happened any more. haha
You guys have fun. I am stuck at work this weekend and won't be there.

Will,
LOL We are all getting into that Can't remember age..Was looking forward to seeing you again.
It is looking more and more like I'm not going to make it to Tulsa.
Health just isn't improving and the heat is murder on my lungs. I'm not pulling the plug yet, but tomorrow will tell the tale when I go in for evaluation at the Dr.
Got to look forward..
Maybe that "OLD Dude" Bob Dennis will represent us old guys.... :~)
Later,
Adger

Re: Tulsa LODRS?

Will,
Thats great.. you will have to tell me about it sometime.. memory loss due to 99 car racing accident has erased almost all of my boat racing past. I vaguely remember staying with my wife at your house.. Can't remember if it was WW1 or WW 2.... (Wrong wife) .. that is more you can fill in the blanks on. It's sad, but I can't even remember what either one of them looked like.
I guess that is good since I have RW1 (Right Wife #1) Donna....
Well we will have to get together some other time... Not healthy enough to do the Tulsa gig. I've had to pull the plug on going. Hope to see all you guys down the road, somewhere...
Adger
