"Live" from Norwalk

We are finally on the road again!!! First of all Larry said to apologize to all ya'll for keeping me off the racing circuit for so long. That is what happens when you lose an engine and most everything in it. Between working and being very careful building this new engine it has been what seems like forever. It has been a little over 3 months since the engine failure at Belle Rose, but hopefully this one will stay together for a while because we have big plans for the summer!

Well we left our house at 5:10 this afternoon and hope to get to the other side of Cincinnati before we stop tonight. So we should get to Norwalk by noon or so tomorrow.

I will be checking back in with you later.

Patsy

Jim, I don't think Jack is entered for this race! Thanks everyone for the good wishes.

Sorry to see that Hawk and Cook withdrew. They always had a good breakfast over their way.

I am so ready to just get some down time and relax a little. Oh, BTW, for Jennifer McCormack and Jim and Pam Marshall--I have the fixing's for some Dreamsicles, including a new icee machine. And for Jim Bailey, I have some Absolut and Diet Cranberry juice. And for anyone, I have some frozen strawberry and mango margeritas. I haven't tried them yet. Hopefully they will be good. And of course, lots of wine and beer. So come on over and introduce yourself.

Re: "Live" from Norwalk

Well, it is a beautiful morning in Lebanon, OH. But what an adventure to find this Walmart. We have a map that has the Walmarts listed, so we were going to stop just north of Cincinnati at exit 19. But we didn't find it. We have an older Garmin that doesn't show a lot of new addresses. So we came on to exit 32 into oblivion. I finally put the address into my computer and a half hour later we finally found the Walmart at 1:15 am. So we are just now getting up and at em.

The weather looks fine here, but a little cloudy.

Thanks for the good wishes guys.

Yeah, Danny, you just might see us in a couple of weeks if the car runs ok this weekend. We are already entered in Seattle and will enter Sonoma and Denver after we see how the car runs.

More later.

Larry & Patsy -- Glad you're back on the "Tour" - enjoy yourselves this weekend .Maybe you can take some of the pressure off my back - and let everyone know they can rest easy as I'm not entered in the Norwalk race this week.................

Re: "Live" from Norwalk

Hey Jack, maybe we will both show up at the same race some day and finally meet!

To anybody already at Norwalk--what are the pits like? Has it been raining this week to where they are muddy? Do we still enter thru Lender's Lot?
Thanks,
Patsy

Well we are here finally! 565 miles. We are in Linders Lot. We are 2 rows over from being parked. It is hot and muggy, but not nearly as bad as the 97 degrees we left home in KY. It is about 85 and humid and overcast.

I hope Bill gets his trailer fixed.

Larry, the Walmart at exit 32 is only about a mile from the highway but you needed to go west to get to it but I take it you went east. At any rate, if you traveled east on rt. 122 you passed by my house. My graphics business (lettering, wraps & such) is just off exit 29 if you are ever passing through stop in.
Good luck & thanks for your track reporting.

Larry & Patsy, Tin Cup said "you ride her till she bucks ya or you don't ride her at all". Glad to hear you are back in the saddle.

If possible please take a picture of Fast Eddie and Drooze together (no cropping allowed, lol).

Good luck at the races and keep the reports coming.

Well, we got parked, teched and credentials. Got back and got the car back in the trailer before the bottom fell out. It really poured for a while, but then let up. Mike Fuller just got parked and teched in between showers. It looks like we are fixing to get some more. We are under a thunderstorm warning now and it is sprinkling and thundering. I haven't been out and seen anybody yet. Janice Fuller, Larry and I have been trying out the strawberry mango margeritas and they are GOOD!!!

More later.

Yes, Ed F. promised he'd get James P. and Chris Wertman in the picture w/them all as well....although it makes interesting (not always good) reading when things are quiet here, I'd like to see Chris & James sit down and enjoy a couple of cold brewskys together at Norwalk, and bury the hatchet that's been sometimes flying thru the air on the site.....Wishing everyone there this wknd a trip to the final round....along with excellent racing weather.:D WJ

Re: "Live" from Norwalk

Just got back from a wonderful dinner with Mike and Janice Fuller at an italian place in Sandusky called Danny Boys. It is at 6207 Milan Rd. I had the best fetticine alfredo ever. It is probably 10 miles from the track and well worth the drive.

We met the famous Fast Eddie this afternoon, but Drooze wasn't here yet. Keith Lynch is going to be driving his car. I am sure with Keith driving, he will run it all out. They let people in tonight past 6 and was also teching past 6.

The water all soaked in pretty well and I haven't seen anyone getting stuck even after all the rain.

One thing I have noticed here is they let the spectators camp here inside with the racers. I haven't seen any problems with it yet, but it doesn't seem like too good an idea--except for the track to make more money. I guess that is why there are only 60 stock and superstockers here, so they can have more room for the spectators to camp.

We have not seen a schedule for tomorrow posted anywhere. We are assuming that we start with stock in the morning at 9, but nobody knows for sure.

Well we have had a long day and a short night last night, so I think it is beddy-bye for us for tonight.

I will get out with my camera tomorrow and get you some pictures. I haven't seen James Perrone yet, but Fast Eddie said he didn't want his picture taken with him!

More later.

Patsy,
Go hang out with the campers. Lots of fun to be had there. They love the racers and for the most part are looking for a good time.
Good Luck with the weather too. Looks like bad storms up there.
I can honestly say I never went to Norwalk that it did'nt rain.

Make sure you keep your motor home, and trailer closed up and locked at night and when Larry is running. Do not leave ANYTHING outside. Put your golf cart away in the trailer. Not all of those campers are honest and mean well. You will hear lots of stories of stolen golf carts taken on joy rides by the drunks in the middle of the night. .

THE LEGEND 06-23-2010 08:46 PM

Re: "Live" from Norwalk

X-techy,
The golf cart stories I heard were actually racers whom had consumed too many adult beverages.
Norwalk has really good night time security also. I remember one year my wife nad I got pulled by the security for going to get water for the rv after midnight.

XTECHMAN is dead on with an "0" Lock everything up during your qualifying because these scumbags watch and know your class and when you go to the lanes they will rip you off! Last year a very good friend of mine was running super gas and when he came back his wallet and credit cards and 700.00 in cash were gone from his trailer. They tracked the thieves through the credit card to find them having a field day at Walmart and a gas station. YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED,

Anybody know how many Grading Points it took for Stock at Norwalk and when was entry cut off date??
Thanks

Larry Hill 06-24-2010 07:33 AM

Re: "Live" from Norwalk

It is overcast this morning and 2100'. Lots of rain and storms last night. They were out early with the jet driers so hopefully the track is good to go. Oh, there has been a "Droozemobile" sighting by Larry a minute ago as he went out the motorhome door! All sportsmen get 3 runs today starting at 9. We run 2 rounds tomorrow starting at 8:30. They haven't called us up yet, but should soon. It has been sprinkling a little, but the radar looks good. Thanks for the warnings about the campers and others. We are parked in the middle of super gassers, so someone should be around when we are running.

More later.
