How about a manual rack&pinion. Lighter core support. Lighter engine accessories...my alt bracket and waterpump weigh a ton. They also make lightweight spindles for those cars I believe.

All I can tell you is that building a stock elim. car is a game of illusion, so use your imagination.

Well said!.....Rich, it's amazing how much weight you can save with a 24 grit disc sander applied to the right places. ...cheap but takes time ......Tom

remove as much of the crash supports behind the frt bumper as you can and still leave for bumper attachment. cut the crash supports out of the doors if you have a roll bar.

Bill, I thought my talk was good, I was trying to give this fella something to think about so that maybe he can do something unique with his car, so that he wouldn't get DISILLUSIONED.
WADE_OWENS, What shocks me is how well that car of yours runs, it has some magic of its own.
Bob Mulry, BITE ME!

I thought the Alabama acid dip was a car that had the paint stripped and left to sit behind the barn for a few years...

ideas to remove weight---Heater/AC components---batteries---water pump-- 4 or 6 cylinder radiator---all pulleys/belts etc not mandatory---power brakes/steering convert to manual stuff---clean out most everything under the dash---liteweight carpeting- consoles--door guard beams---scrape all the body sealer/undercoating off the underneath/ inside of body---aluminum impact bumper/s---Comp 387

No. And your not allowed to remove any bracing or supports from other areas either, like bumper brackets or bumper energy absorption parts.
