Most Impressive car in Stock Elim.
Who has the most impressive car in stock elim.
I'm talking real car, not the under rated new crap. I'm talking about cars like Jim Marshalls Vette. Hammer |
Re: Most Impressive car in Stock Elim.
Hammer, before calling new cars crap think of the bigger picture, I'm sure that many people felt the same way in the late 60s and 70s about newer cars but calling them crap is being disrespectful to all the men and women who have worked hard to build a quality machines and we're richer for it. I'm glad to see new DP's and Mustangs(wish Government Motors would hurry up with the new Camaro) probably not happy with the advantage they've been given but can live with it. Did you try to buy a Vette lately or a Chevelle to build into a race car. Just tone down your adjectives when describing newer Detroit Iron.

Re: Most Impressive car in Stock Elim.
Underrated cars don't really impress anyone. I am usually the chasee and have ran a ton of A cars but none and I mean none pulled me like Fitzpatricks 6 pack. At the first cone I had him by at least 10 cars, at the stripe I didn't know who took it and my car rocked severly when he went by. I want that car!!! As of late the 283 of Wade Owens running 11.40 in K really amazes me, the most wicked motor I have ever heard in my 40 years was Keith Lynch's white nova with green flames at Belle Rose about 6-7 years ago. That motor was the most wicked thing I ever heard pulling into the barn for teardown. I really wanted that one bad!!! LOL

Re: Most Impressive car in Stock Elim.
Scott,,,,Have those two ever run each other before? I wonder how they'd do heads up. I don't know what Kevin's best numbers are, or Jason's. I'm sure they were under different conditions at different tracks, but that would be a good race to witness. I'd love to see that one.

Re: Most Impressive car in Stock Elim.
I'm thinking Jason's Plymouth is a 66,,not a 64.

Re: Most Impressive car in Stock Elim.

Re: Most Impressive car in Stock Elim.
I remember racing "Yo Kenny" Meile at Englishtown Nat. Event one year with four cars left. My tree comes down, I'm away clean, shift high gear, wave at Winston Vision camera, and look in my rear view mirror to see Kennys light. Kenny leaves clean and all that I can see is the ENTIRE bottom of the car. He put it up so high that it did a wobble on the rear valance. Well, I think that he's done, no one can recover from that and run the number, WRONG! He beats me and wins his first Nat. Event.
Now THAT was impressive and I don't impress easily! |

Re: Most Impressive car in Stock Elim.
I would have to say Wade's 283 Chevelle. Powerglide and a 283 going 11.40's. How in the hell did that combo get hp taken off?
|
Re: Most Impressive car in Stock Elim.
Steve Tarance V/S Chevy II. It won Combo 1 at the Union Hill many times. For those that have never been to the "Hill" Combo1 was like Comp, you raced off your index with no breakout.

David Barton's Coronet. Banging heads with the late model stuff and getting hp while trying...............
Wade (ps, thanks for all the votes!!) |
Re: Most Impressive car in Stock Elim.
Jim Marshall's Corvette and Bruce Noland's Camaro.
What these guys have done with a 8 1/2 : 1 low compression smog motor with a weak cam is incredible. Fred Vetter was on to this combo 24 years ago but then it was only rated at 265 HP. Now, with a 287 HP rating, these guys are still making it shine. However, with the new DP Dodges and soon the new crate motor Mustangs invading these classes, I believe it might have been all for naught. Not just the AA/S - B/S guys being affected now but it will ripple half way down the class structure as well. |
Re: Most Impressive car in Stock Elim.
Since I did most of my racing in Div 5 and haven't raced recently I am voting for an oldie, Richard Charbonneau's 427 Fairlane wagon.
