Live From The Sonoma LODRS
 

We just got done running first round of qualifying for the Sonoma divisional. The second round of qualifying will also be the first round of the Phoenix make-up race. That will start right after Super Comp which is running now. I will try to keep you up to date on what's happening this weekend. I'll also try to get some pictures posted. Hopefully I'll be busy today going rounds in the make-up race. :)

I got pulled out for the single first round and what do you know? There was an odd amount of cars so I got a bye run. Jody won first round also. Jim Meador even won a round. Things are looking good so far.

They just called Super Stock for their first round of the make-up race.

First round Super Stock from Phoenix was just completed. Harold was asleep at the wheel and let Jimmy DeFrank and Mike Blackstone go to the burnout box together. They are both in SS/BS. They didn't notice it until they both did their burnouts and were approching the starting line and it put up 9.65 on both sides of the scoreboards. They were backed out and another pair was run, then Jimmy ran a different opponent and Mike ran the pair after that.

Something weird happened in the last match-up between Don Keen and Stephen Negrini. They both had different dial-ins by about a second I believe, but they left at the same time. I don't think Keen was that late. I'll let you know what happened when I find out more about it.

Toby, congrats on yours and Jody's first round wins, but I'm wondering why wasn't Angelo Phillips & Raul Vargas listed in the qualifying for the Phoenix race...they both were entered in it, but weren't shown in the final qualifying post for the runoff today, or the 1st rnd ladder??? Who else showed up there for the Phx. runoff that was omitted from the 1st rnd???

Yes, both Raul and Angelo ran in the Phoenix race. Angelo lost to Jim Meador first round when he couldn't run the number. I don't know what happened to Raul, but it looked like his car was on an open trailer at the scales. I assume he broke something.

The final qualifying and ladder from Phoenix is based only on the winners of the first round. The first round is random pairing. Similar to how the super class categories are done except we are laddered by how far we run under the index first round. I believe there were 63 cars first round.

That wasn't Raul's car I saw on the trailer by the scales. It was still there after I ran second round. They must be getting a chassis cert. done or something.

Well, we are down to the semi's in Stock. Larry Gilley races Chad Loge and I race Jody.

They just called the the 4th round of Super Stock to the lanes.

They finally ran Super Stock. In the semi's Tony Mandella races John Winslow Sr. and Ryan McClanahan gets the bye.

Stock is supposed to run after Super Gas which they are running now. There's a 7PM curfew though. Don't know if they will be able to get elims done tonight.

They just postponed the semi's and finals in Stock and Super Stock until tomorrow. We're supposed to run our last qualifier tomorrow morning then they will run the semi's and finals before the alcohol cars.

I talked to Don this morning and as I suspected they weren't entered in the Phoenix make-up race. I thought they had dial-ins on the board, but it must have been their indexes.

They just ran the semi's in the Phoenix race. Tony Mandella races Ryan McClanahan in the Super Stock final and Larry Gilley and I face off in the Stock final.

You carded an .004 rt., and didn't win??? He was lucky, and Toby your day in the winners circle will certainly come (especially with lights like that), and soon!!! :)

Furthermore (and just as importantly), you certainly entered the Top Ten in Div. 7 in points with that effort, and hopefully you'll be able to stay there (plus go higher in future races)...I wish you would've made strides towards a repeat (if not better) for todays Sonoma race, but you still have Bakersfield & 'Vegas forthcoming, so go get 'em there...and thanks for the photos/news from the track!
