Re: SS/B is getting more interesting
So what does this factor to? This was from Denver this past week. #1 qualifier!
1 5251 SS/B Todd Patterson, Augusta KS, '10 Cobra Jet 9.387 10.67 -1.283 |
Re: SS/B is getting more interesting
We've had SS/B cars running 9-teens to 8-90's @ 147-148 MPH for awhile now.
Just goes to show you how much those CJ's are holding back on their ET as the MPH is just as good as those running in the 8's. Thanks to on-board computers we now have invisible throttle stops that can not be detected or monitored. That or they just spin the tires all through 1st gear! |

It also went 147 mph ... actual ... in Denver. That's unreal. Add: The 9.387 isn't its best run either. Went 9.320 in Rd. 1. 8.64 corrected. |

Re: SS/B is getting more interesting
The factor is not as acurate if the car is blown or turbocharged. Of course they are underrated, but the factor would be differant if all cars were pressurized.

Re: SS/B is getting more interesting
As soon as someone back halves one of these new ss Mustangs in SS/B where they can really get after it, they will run as fast as the hemi cars in SS/AH.

Re: SS/B is getting more interesting
I think Indy might take care of some of this problem with the Fords, though it may take 2 years to fix.

They are a "stock" as the new Mustangs and Challengers.
|
Re: SS/B is getting more interesting
plan to make old cars obsolete: Allow NEW cars at rediculous factor and act as if doesnt matter. Allow the frustration for the racers to affect ALL classes as the racers DO care about the fairness of factoring and the disregard for their fellow competitors.
A plan which has been in affect for MANY years... just more obvious when the New cars arrived. |
Re: SS/B is getting more interesting
At least IHRA has F I classes seperate . And a seperate class for the NEW Mopars and Fords. May be the only way we will see the older cars compete in the future.

Re: SS/B is getting more interesting
Starting to think Indy might be the place to be more than ever if your interested in S/SS. You may see the future unfold or the roof cave in depending on what side of the fence your on. Just think of all the DP and CJ cars that have not , lets say, come out of the closet yet. ----------------------------Oh yea, we loved the idea of no grade points for Indy so we decided, since the car counts have been low ---All DP & CJ can now enter. This is a JOKE --do not take this seriously !

Re: SS/B is getting more interesting
Todd Patterson is entered with his new CJ

anybody notice the mph of Todd Patterson's SS/B CJ? congrats goes out to him for getting to the finals in Topeka

Re: SS/B is getting more interesting
Steven, Roy Hill ran 158, when he qualified 1 at Cecil County. Roy was heavy on the scales also, so what do you think they can run at minimum weight if they had to.

Re: SS/B is getting more interesting
There's nothing like a soft horsepower factor to make a fast car.
|
Re: SS/B is getting more interesting
Guys that have been thrashing, seriously thrashing, on SS/B cars are hitting around 145 MPH. :(
|
Re: SS/B is getting more interesting
Saw a seriously thrashed SS/C go 146+ in the Bowling Green heat last saturday.
|
Re: SS/B is getting more interesting
If some of the NMCA guys had these cars, we would really find out how quick and fast they would be. One CJ guy in Stock said the only thing they had done to theirs was to change the front tires. They were #1 Qualifier!
How many other stockers are out there that haven't had every nut and bolt in the car scrutinzed for perfection? Nothing wrong with the cars or racers really, just the factoring by NHRA. |
Re: SS/B is getting more interesting
What does it prove to run that fast when your in such an under rated late model piece of blower crap other than the AHFS dosent work as intended and the NHRA screwed the racers of the old muscle cars ? Same deal as in stock with the AA's and A's and on down with 5.7 DP's. Put the HP where where they belong then you can talk s##t.
I am much more impressed with John Calverts 64 T-Bolt in A/S. |
