Funny Car in Comp....?

Ok, so on the ride from Denver Im reading the rulebook for lack of anything better to do.

In the Comp section, it lists Funny Car....

But I cant find how/where it would fit.

Would it have to follow the same rules as an Altered ?

Where would say a 4 cyl Turbo Funny Car fall at say 150CI ?

Its really a random curiousity question, I cannot figure for the life of me where a Funny Car falls ? Under Altered, Dragster ? Where.

Thanks, this is really bugging me :D

funny car is in the ECONO ALTERED section of the NHRA rules book---TURBO not allowed in ECONO---not sure if they will let you run the turbo in a FUNNY CAR body in ALTERED tho---rules on the bodies are pretty restrictive too--best bet check with NHRA Div tech guy first then maybe Bruce see what he thinks --Comp387

There were 2 of them in D1 : Jake Crimmins and Bob Rossi . Both Olds Achieva's.

I didnt see the post.

What classes can the Funny Car body be run in ?

Still "pondering" it....otherwise maybe an altered....

I am toying with the idea of a 4cyl turbo FC and would like to move up to Comp Elim....Be cool, fun, fun to work on.....just something neat I think, Ive got my eye on a 78 Arrow body

House will be done by end of the Month and Dad has the DP under control now and with Keith driving for now....

So well I need a new toy :D And the DP has always been a bit slow for my tastes... So new car, new team of misguided mistreants and rejects, what could be more fun.....

Cheers

Chris

Sad to think this car will never be built.

i should of posted it here 1st,

i should of mentioned it when i had the chance, i remember about 3 or 4 years ago on the history channel, on modern marvels when they profiled "drag-racing" a guy on there had a funny car with a turbo'd on alkie 4 banger, in a funny car. i wish i would of mentioned it, it was exactly what droozie was talking about.

A bit of trivia for you, but in the 1980s before the IHRA had a PAFC division, the alky flops ran as S/F [Super Funny] and had a 6.40 index. One of them actually made it to the quarters at one race I was at.

Not that this would fit into any NHRA class, but an interesting 4 cylinder funnycar none-the-less.

Dave Bonbright's dual blown, flat-4 VW funnycar! I watched Dave drive this thing at Fremont Raceway back in the day, at one of the VW events.

Steve,,,How right you are on that. I'd not been in the Comp and Modified section for some time, so when I clicked on and saw Drooze's posts, it all came rushing back. He sounds so enthusiastic thinking about the possibilities of the turbo F/C, and even mentioning about the "house being done soon", so he could get on with his next project. So sad..
