What will it take to get in Stock in Indy?

Since the entries are running slow for stock, I will take .68 under. Subject to change, recalculation, or number of beverages.

Only .057 under? I think even I could make that bump! :)

Come on guys...we're talking Indy here. Single grade point will get you in and there will be 20+ CJ's and DP's. People can afford to tweak and not even enter until they see exactly what they've got at the LODRS the weekend before.

My young friend is being very nice. Even with the economy and sandbagging during qual., guessing .585 If the weather is as hot and humid as we have had so far this summer maybe Brannon is right at .465.

Even with the 3 tenths index hit i'll go out on the limb here and predict .87 If all the NEW cars show , if not i say .62. What do we win if we are right ?

110 Entered. 10 A/SA, 11 B/SA C/SA lagging, where are the H/SA cars, lots of stick cars. Should be fun., and 70 more to go.

When some of the G cars see you're entered they just may add some weight...LOL

119, 61 to go.

Re: What will it take to get in Stock in Indy?

124 (68.9%) this morning with 13 CJ/DP cars thus far and some "probable" names not yet entered...still looks like about 20 of those to hover near the top of the Q Sheet which going to definitely impact what it takes to get in.

Sunday 125 Entered. I might have to lower my estimate. Who is missing? 55 to go. Maybe the year for tow cars and rent cars.

And the last thing on my mind at night and the first thing on my mind in the morning is whether that grade point can be obtained in BG!

Looks like you'll have one less thing on your mind because it's gone up to 157 entries already and still over two weeks till BG, adding quite a few today when it opened up to single grade point folks. Sorry about that Jimi B. Myself, I'm still not pushing the entry button until I see what my most recent changes yield on the track, hopefully this weekend. Beginning to think the bump is actually going to be even tougher than last year and don't know that I can get to 1.0 under!

What's really interesting is the number of DP/CJ cars (23!) and that there are already 55 entries in AA, A and B classes....going to make for one heck of a show...looks like there's going to be a lot of disappointed racers when qualifying ends.

Stock is up to 165, and "Big Daddy" is now entered just like last year. Stock and Super Stock will be simply great!

Mark Faul is probably driving Jim Defrank's car.

Re: What will it take to get in Stock in Indy?

A couple months ago I checked Entry lists for Indy and it pretty much looked like there hadn't been 180 cars in Stock at Indy for the last decade. The year I try to squeak in when car counts have been ridiculously low its filled.

Thats pretty much the story of my life. Its pretty rare that I get away with something that I know better. There is no reason I should not of made it to the first divisional race this year let alone all of them, except my priorities being screwed up. Granted I did have a bad wreck that yielded me not walking for sometime, and some expense that came with that.. And some personal matters that left me a little unsure of what will make me whole again. I still had plenty of time to pull it off. When Chris died I really started to feel it. Someone that shared some of the same goals as myself, never getting the chance to see it come to fruition when he felt he was so close. I might of got my stuff together then... But it was too little too late.

I will take it as a lesson. A lesson I deserve. Most class racers might not know me, but I have been a part of lots of dragracing from Alcohol Funny car to Sport Compact. As a crew guy, engine machinist, etc.. I have done nothing but eat, breath, and sleep dragracing most of my life.. I have given up part of family business, given up a couple good women, quite a lot of bad ones probably since I was always in a garage or at the track when most college kids are out partying, and lots of other things that come with time and money... And the year that I set out to actually drive some real races myself I am the least focused ever. I have a pretty good grasp of what or why, and I can guarantee you that I will figure it out god willing.

I still have the chance to achieve 2/4 of my goals for the year. Not sure if it will be at BG, or the Opens left in Div 3.. Id like to do achieve them at BG as a 30th bday present to myself.. However what I am most concerned with is Big Daddy, and Jeg Coughlin running stock again next year!

You should not be deterred by the rapidly filling field; shoot for BG and just do it. There will be withdrawals that last weekend as there are two other LODRS races as well and several entered racers will run those and then determine they just can't make the 128 car field if they do go and will then withdraw. Course, if you can't run deep under your respective index then save your $ to get the combo quicker. Just my 2C.

Re: What will it take to get in Stock in Indy?

Yeah, that's pretty much where my mind is this morning. As far as times go.. I have ran very similar setups on this platform an I am pretty confident that I would be pretty high up the list. Of course I was pretty confident that I would have 4 grade points by now. ..

Larry Hill 08-16-2010 10:49 AM

Re: What will it take to get in Stock in Indy?

Jimi,
If you do go to Bowling Green to try to get your grade point for Indy, you need to get there as early as possible and get teched and go personally to Jay Hullinger and let him know that you want to get in to Indy. He could then call CA and let them know that you have a grade point, so that you could get in. And Jim is right there will be withdrawals right up until Monday.
