What will it take to get in Super Stock in Indy?

And how many of the SS/AH cars of the probably 26 or so that enter will make the show? I predict .76 under to get in and I predict 5 of the SS/AH cars will make the show.

It won't be like last year, there was considerable HP handed out after that race but then again, the GT classes will be as fast or faster, especially GTAA to GT/DA, the SS/AH guys will be beating on each other, SS/JA will be a dogfight w/ several fast cars, so here goes...

0.87 bump and Jeff...4 of the 5 SS/AH guys will be both Wescotts, Barton, and Daniels; don't know about the 5th one...

Plus an extra $60 for insurance if I remember correctly.

OK, let's see. $270 to get in, $60 for insurance, and to make it interesting, how many of the SS/AH cars that get in the show will actually show for first round?

Not much, there will not be much to start with in the oil pan!

Put me down for .75 under to get in.

I say .68 under will get you in!! Unless we get really good "Indy" air like last year!

Watch out for Tyler Hard if Ray finished his new bullet. I can see 6 or 7 really fast cars being there.

I'd agree with this, say it will be around 0.69/0.7 because it's safe to figure that the guys that were near the bump last year weren't holding anything back.

I'd say .75, if the conditions were as good as last year. Realistically, .65-.70 could be close to the bump.

29 SS/AH. I'm gonna revise my estimate to 6 in the show. That is a bunch of elephant motors in one sitting.

I would also say Perkins should make the show.

Jeff, I believe that there are 30 SS/AH; Harold Leiter Jr., car #342, is listed in SS/AA with a '68 Hemi Barracuda. The rulebook states "Class SS/AH restricted to 1968 Plymouth Barracuda and 1968 Dodge Dart with Hemi engine (automatic and/or manual). These vehicles restricted to this class only." I am assuming that the last sentence means that he can't move down to SS/AA. If his car info is correct, he should be listed in SS/AH.

Re: What will it take to get in Super Stock in Indy?

I f conditions are the same this year as last ,only 4 hemi cars would have qualified last year, because our index was hit by 15 hundreds.1.021last year 72.1 this year would mean,Hemi cars would have to go 8.579 just to qualify this year.

Re: What will it take to get in Super Stock in Indy?

I have heard a couple of things in regards to qualifying at Indy. I am hoping one or more of you could answer this question. Do they still put in all class winners into the show or is a straight qualifying under the index?

Thanks for your help!

Mike Carr 08-05-2010 01:12 PM

Re: What will it take to get in Super Stock in Indy?

It's the 128 quickest cars under the Index, unfortunately. It used to be Class Winners + Low ET qualifiers to make the 128 car field. For whatever reason, NHRA changed this in 2008. Winning Class used to mean something. Not anymore. Now, the money is almost non-existant for winning Class, and you may not even qualify.

There will be a flock of SS/JA cars make it.

It's strictly qualifying, class win dosen't mean anything anymore.
But when you look at the past ET's remember They get a shot first thing in the morning when the air is usually much better.
With your tough index you will need your A game
