Check the Clarion Inn in Speedway -- got a room two days before the Brickyard, can't believe lodging for the Nat's would be any different.

Re: Nationals, where to stay

I have never stayed at the Motel 6 in Speedway, but a couple of friends of mine said it was a dump and they would never stay there again. The Clarion only has a few rooms left and the prices range from $75 a night to $125 a night depending on which night it is. I have stayed at the Red Roof Inn in Speedway in 2007 and 2009 and it is great because it is only 4 miles from the track. Unfortunately a lot of people agree with me; it has been sold out since January! This year I am staying at the Red Roof Inn on Victory Drive in South Indianapolis. I stayed there in 2008 when the Speedway Inn was sold out and it is just as nice as the Speedway location, but you have a 21 mile drive to the track. However, it only takes 30 minutes because you are on a Highway for most of the trip.
Online you can get a room there for $50 a night every night of the Nationals. Hope this helps!

I stayed at an area called the Pyramids last year (1st time). Comfort Inn. Nice and fairly convenient. It's Interstate to the road in front of the drag strip and takes about 15 minutes. I left around 7:30-8:00 each morning Wed-Friday and didn't have any problems. there is a short cut over to the road but can't remember the name, I think it runs by a little private air strip. Probably saves about 5 to 10 minutes on the drive. Good luck, wish I would find out I could go back this year. Go to Expedia and search for motels, they will have a lot to choose from around Indy.

Check out the hotels in Brownsburg, IN. There is a Hampton Inn, Comfort Inn and Holiday Inn Express.

The Super 8 in Avon is just 8 minutes from the track and is pet friendly if you need that......

That is Hwy 421, also called Michigan road. I have stayed at this exit, 421 and I-465, on either side of the road atleast 30 times between the Nats and the Div 3 race. Rates are reasonable and places to eat that are close. The shortcut you refer to is 38th street, goes past Eagle Creek Airport and it changes names to Girls School road? and that runs you to Crawfordsville road. Go west and you are at the track in three minutes.

I'll jump in and promote the Michigan Road exit off of 465 also.
Plenty of hotels and the best food around.

Josh, you are about 11 miles west of where I am at the Red Roof Inn South. We are both right off of I-465W / I-74W. You are 11 miles closer to the track than I am. Online, rooms are still $50 a night at the Red Roof Inn; so the question is, is it worth it to pay 10-12 dollars more per night to be 11 miles closer to the track. It's a 21 mile trip for me (it takes about 30 minutes) from the Red Roof Inn; so for you Josh, it's about a 10 mile trip. See you at Indy.

I hope that you noticed the cancellation policy; in order to offer such a low rate, all money is non-refundable. If you have to cancel for any reason, you won't get a refund.

Re: Nationals, where to stay

For anyone who is interested, try this link, http://www.smartbizsavings.com/. It is a great way to save on rental cars, motels, and many other items. With their discount I got my room at the Red Roof Inn South for $39.99 a night from Tuesday Aug.31 - Monday Sept.6. Without the discount it is $49.99 a night; that's $60.00 saved for my 6 night stay.
