Ken Etter injured in an accident at Fontana
Just got a call from Rod Greene, Ken is seriously injured from an accident this evening at the race at Fontana.
Don't know much more then this at this time - get your prayers out there to Ken and his family. |
Re: Ken Etter injured in an accident at Fontana
Bob Mazzolini called me said Ken was in a serious top end accident. Head-on into a wall. He had to be cut out of the car and was air lifted to a local Hospital. I will fill in more details as I get them. Send all your prayers out to Ken.

Re: Ken Etter injured in an accident at Fontana
It was a very ugly sceen. The left front tire was pushed all the way back to the driver door. Ken was unconscious when I first saw him, but was conscious when they were cutting the door open. Definately a malfunction, whether it be brakes or stuck throttle, is unclear.
Please keep Ken in your thoughts. |
Re: Ken Etter injured in an accident at Fontana

Re: Ken Etter injured in an accident at Fontana
I raced and lost to Ken the round prior to the accident. I hope he is half as tough as a person, as he is as a competitor. Then he will pull through this quickly. I am hoping for a speedy recovery for him and the motorcycle rider that suffered some pretty bad injuries yesterday also. Get well soon Ken.

Prayers to both guys. |
Re: Ken Etter injured in an accident at Fontana
This is terrible, Ken is in my prayers.
Is there a way to set up some kind of fund to help Ken with his upcoming medical expenses? I know he has been unemployed for a while now. Does someone who is unemployed qualify for workman's comp? |
Re: Ken Etter injured in an accident at Fontana

My son just talked to Ken this afternoon and although he had difficulty speaking, he sounded in pretty good spirits considering. We are going to see him if possible this evening. We will see about how he feels about any donations or help. I will post his acct. # if he thinks it is OK. Lord surely knows he could use the help..will see what he thinks about accepting it.

Re: Ken Etter injured in an accident at Fontana
We were with Ken today till 8 tonight....when he was awake his mind was pretty sharp and focused. The jaw/mouth/tongue surgery seemed to be successful although he sure will not be eating any solid food for a while. The Orthopedic Specialists will look at his Scans/X Rays tomorrow. I will post his Grandma's Bank Acct. # tomorrow night when we get back from Hospital.....he has been laid off too long and does not have a dime of insurance. Thanks

Re: Ken Etter injured in an accident at Fontana
Kudos to our RFC chaplain Mitch for going to the hospital and keeping tabs on the drivers. If it wasn't for him some of the ones that followed would not have known anything about their condition.
Thank you, Mitch, I hope you're around if, God forbid, anything ever happens to me. |

Contact info for DRAW from the web:
http://www.drawfasthelp.org/dw-contact1.cfm Here are the details for insurance coverage. http://www.nhra.com/insuranceinfo.aspx I suspect a phone call to his Division Rep would be the best place to begin: http://www.nhradiv7.com/ |
Re: Ken Etter injured in an accident at Fontana
That policy sounds like excellent coverage UNTIL the insurance underwriters start telling you that this isn't covered and that is covered only after you pay a XXX deductible and then there's a XXX co pay.I hope, for Ken's sake, the policy is as straight forward as it seems.
No one mentioned if he was air lifted out of the track. That's where the $$$ is.It can go into the 10s of thousands.I have a policy, through the Nat'l Rifle Assoc. that covers alot of incedentals, including being air lifted in an emergency. It's a scary but comforting thing to have, just in case. Again,a speedy recovery to Ken. |
Re: Ken Etter injured in an accident at Fontana

He is grateful for all proffered prayers and good wishes.
