Weather forecast for Marion, SD, this weekend looks great. Sunny skies with temps in the high 70's, low 80's.

For class racers who have not had an opportunity to race this year, what better place. 2 days, 2 races, 3 qualifying passes each day plus elims.

The worst case, 8 hits. A good way to shake off some rust.

Remember, $1000 guaranteed to win each day plus round money starts with first round winners.

Class racers from the Twin Cities, St. Cloud, Omaha, Lincoln, you can leave after your morning plate of eggs and still be there in time for the first qualifier at 3 pm Saturday. If you are really good, get there by 5, one hit and race at 6.

So go load the trailer right now and we will see you this weekend at Thunder Valley.

Ron

Anybody know who won or did it get rained out ??

JRyan 05-20-2007 07:12 PM

Beautiful weather! Rick said there were 28 cars on Saturday, and 29 today.

The winner on Sat. night was Rod Negebauer and Jon Christensen was runner-up.

Sundays winner was Dennis Nelson with Rick Ryan the runner-up.

I hope to be there myself next time, and hope to see more of the Minnesota cars there too.

Jerry

Wow Jerry that's one heck of a great turnout for so early in the season just think how many cars will turn up at TVD in July or at Interstate with all the Minnisota. racers when is the date anyway in Fargo anyone know??

novassdude 05-22-2007 01:05 PM

The race at Interstate Dragways will be the 16th and 17th of June. Hope to see every one there.

I'm sure more information will come in the weeks leading up to the event, but does anyone in MCR know what the payout will be? How many qualifying runs each day? Sportsman laddar or Pro laddar? Are the scales working at I-Drags?

See ya in Staging!

Isn't the S/ss combo at Interstate Dragways in June a official *USA* S/ss Association event not a Midwest Class Racer's event or have they both joined forces that weekend[:-smilearound-:]??? Talk about a big payout if they have probley be a good $2,000 to win with 32 cars each day???

novassdude 05-22-2007 03:32 PM

It is a USA race for sure it is on there schedule. I would love to see each group involved. I believe that they did a race together last year at Thunder Valley. One organization running each day would be fine with me.

Rick Ryan 05-22-2007 04:21 PM

As of the moment Sunday is a USA sponsored race.
Ron and the MCR are working to try and get some funds for Saturday. We also plan on throwing some money in for Saturday and I also have a couple others possibly interested in adding to the purse.

Zenzen is right, I am tuckered out, but not from beverages, just old.

A couple of points I want to address. First, the two races this past weekend at TVD were great. Thirty different cars raced, 28 qualified on Saturday and 29 on Sunday. Congrates to winners Rod Neugabauer and Dennis Nelson also runnerups Jon Christensen and Rick Ryan.
Also some thank yous. The Nelsons brought three cars, Dennis in his SS, Marlene in her stocker and son Denny in his beautiful B/SA Mustang. Captain Koppien had his entire fleet of 4 big block Chevies there. The guys from Belle Fourche, SD who drove 6 hours to get there. The current Division 5 stock champion, Brett Spears and his dad. Not one complained of $3.40 a gallon gas, all said they had fun. Two more thank yous. Melinda Koppien for handling the qualifing sheets and elim sheets in the stagging lanes, as always a great job. And Glenn Rapp and his crew from Thunder Valley. They worked hard to keep the race track working and the show to run smoothly. Yes, everyone scaled after every pass.
The second point about Midwest Class Racers. The money that is contributed by MCR doesn't come from some magic money tree. It comes from donations rasied from indiviuals and businesses that love drag racing and believe in class racing. It all gets put back into the stock/ss combos.
We have been fortunate enough to kick in a little in the past to both Pierre and Kearney races, but the majority came from their local sponsers. The majority of MCR money will always go to the races at TVD because thats where the money is raised.
As far the Interstate combo race in June, MCR has NOT had commited any money. I had a brief conversation with Jerry Ryan and told him I would talk with the others to see if we felt we had any money to contribute. Its a two way street, hard to send money in that direction when only see a limited amount of cars coming to TVD. Fargo you might be surprised at the money you can raise by just asking.
We at MCR have dream of seeing at least 50 cars for our two shows at TVD. The payout increases to where the winner gets $1,500 and R/U $775 and as always 1st round winners get paid. This dream would be easy if half of those that said they will show up.
Remeber to mark your calendars for July 7th and 8th and September 15th (USA bonus money) and 16th. Iam sure there will be a Saturday nite racers feed at one of these weekends. With Midwest Class Racers its about having fun.

Ron
